Transformers

With only vague details on the story and a plethora of photos from on-lookers nearby various sets in Chicago, we're still very much in the dark about the forthcoming Transformers sequel. But being in the dark is exactly where we're heading anyway since TFW2005 discovered (with confirmation from Collider) that the title for Pink Floyd's Michael Bay's robot fighting bonanza is Transformers: The Dark of the Moon. It doesn't exactly reveal anything about the plot, but without referencing the previously revealed, spoiler-filled opening to the film, it might reference the last three days of the lunar cycle, when the moon is not visible in the night sky.

Remember, in addition to franchise stars like Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel and John Tuturro, new cast members include Patrick Dempsey, Alan Tudyk, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand and Ken Jeong. We also know some new robots take the form of a fancy Ferrari, and pictures have spotted various heavily modified race cars and more. And while it hasn't been confirmed, Transformers: The Dark of the Moon might be Michael Bay's last foray into fighting robots. The director previously said, "This one really builds to a final crescendo. It's not three multiple endings. As a trilogy it really ends. It could be rebooted again, but I think [Transformers 3] has a really killer ending." We'll find out when the film gets released on July 11th, 2011.

I wonder if the DARK OF THE MOON is becuase of the rumors that aliens and alien base's have been found in the craters and dark side of the moon, that is why NASA has never sent a shuttle mission to the moon ever since Buzz Aldrin claimed to have seen Alien bases and UFO's on the moon.

Dumb title for a dumb franchise by a dumb director.

Im surprised that all the webs outlets are running this story without official confirmaiton from Mr. Bay and the studios. Dark of the Moon just sounds ridiculous and I'm betting that a change of title is annouced here very shortly to get the record straight. I'll be very surprised if this is the final title, it just doesn't roll off the tongue or have the same shorthand as ROTF. we'll see....

I hope the movie is long...like Inception long because i heard they are cutting out all the stupid childish jokes, and coming in full heat, darker story, and finally Shia having a actual fight scene with Patrick Dempsey, also the stunts look really sick...so sick they'll split your head open(no pun intended)

Hmmm! So much criticism from the get go, and yet, we'll all be lining up! I'll be checkin' this flick out! 🙂

@ Darren ..... yeah man. Super uncool with that comment.

yankeescf04 on Oct 6, 2010

He he @ Tether. I wonder if it's a Decepticon or Autobutt. Here's a better Dark Side of a Moon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d78K4rCEfAo Totally took 10 acid and am flying around my house transforming into particles. Who knows maybe Bay is a Pink Floyd fan?

Crapola on Oct 6, 2010

seriously? Michael...just stop. You killed my childhood, you made Starscream look like a freakin gorilla, megatron looks like a magnet with a bunch of metal attached to it. JUST STOP! you did enough dammage

tHeH1t on Oct 6, 2010

I think the whole "DARK SIDE OF THE MOON" thing references Unicron. I imagine a team up of sorts (autobots & decepticons) against a common foe...

The Transformers crew is in Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach, Fl right now filming at Kennedy Space Center. (I live in Merritt Island, right down the road) and I work next to the building where the cast/crew are staying at (Cocoa Beach Hilton Hotel). Didn't have much to add other then I saw Michael Bay get coffee and that they're filming a bunch of big ass scenes down at the Cape.

Really? Michael Bay?? Really? He will just ruin the whole movie again. Most probably he will use the his "car chase" technique. Ohh I cant wait for the slow motion part, there is so many you would want it more. I cant think any more nicer way of saying this but. He is gonna FU*K UP the movie again!

HanDsomepig on Oct 6, 2010

I vote to have Darren's comment removed, as it is cruel and insensitive and adds no value to this topic. That being said, I look at the Bayformers separate form the traditional Transformers we all know and love, that way I can enjoy them without biased comparisons. I am looking forward to Transformers: DOTM..there I did it...the acronym...I think It will prove to be epic. Bay does listen to the fans to some extent, and many have said they have cut out the toilet humor, but the casting of Ken Jeong is troublesome, I have a feeling he is Wheeljack :(.

Mayhem on Oct 7, 2010

I just hope they finally include the Transformers robots in disguise theme song in this film during the opening and end credits. The audiences will jump out of their seats!

Tellar Calcagno on Oct 7, 2010

28

@23 Yeah I was thinking Unicron too. You'd think if so many people watch these movies they'd know about the original lol.

Kevin Ottison on Oct 7, 2010

29

The WHAT dark of the moon?! Such a lousy title for a lousy film. Thank you Mr. Bay.

Manuel on Oct 7, 2010

I think the title is fine, It's better then having a title beginning with Revenge which many movies have had.

TigerClaw on Oct 7, 2010

@ 30 Tiger Claw: or 'Rise of something or other'
