Pierre Morel / EDF

In October we heard that Taken director Pierre Morel was a top contender to possibly helm Universal's action adventure movie Ouija, centered around the creepy "game" board used to communicate with spirits. Well, Heat Vision reports the director presented his take on the Hasbro adaptation to the studio yesterday, but apparently Morel is also in talks to direct another recently reported feature. The director may actually find himself working with producer Sam Raimi for EDF (or rather Earth Defense Force) a story which sees Earth devastated by an alien attack only to build-up their forces again to fend off a second alien horde.

Though Warner Bros. is quite keen on having Morel take on EDF, apparently they're waiting to see what happens with Ouija. Since the supernatural action adventure is a high priority for Universal, that project would likely get off the ground before EDF, but Warner Bros may not want to wait until that project is finished to get to work on EDF. At least the new Dune adaptation won't be holding him back anymore. Since the surprise hit Taken swept the January box office off its feet back in 2009, Morel is quite a hot commodity. Speaking of which, the director apparently still has a sequel to Liam Neeson's ass-kicking crusade in his future, so he has plenty of options for his next project. Which would you like to see Pierre Morel direct next?
