We haven't heard much about what Spanish filmmaker Rodrigo Cortes will follow-up his film Buried with, but Variety has details on his next project, titled Red Lights, that he wrote and will direct. Actors Robert De Niro and Sigourney Weaver are both attached to star in this new psychological thriller that focuses on a psychologist (Weaver), and her assistant whose study of paranormal activity leads them to investigate a world-renowned psychic (De Niro). The independent production will start shooting in February in Spain and Canada, as it's set in an "unidentified big US city." I'm really liking the sound of this project so far. Read on!
Producer Adrian Guerra explains: "Red Lights follows the steps of Buried in allowing us to make a highly commercial, bold and compelling film with great production values and Hollywood stars but keeping the creative control from Spain." Not many other details are known about Red Lights, like what the catch is that makes De Niro's psychic character so interesting, but I'm intrigued. If you couldn't tell in my interview with Rodrigo Cortes, he's a fascinating guy with a lot to offer, and I'm already looking forward to seeing what he comes up with in Red Lights. And in the meantime, be sure to go see Buried in theaters while you still can!
