Robert De Niro Cast in Neil Burger's Thriller The Dark Fields

This probably isn't the movie you're thinking of - different title. Variety announces tonight that Robert De Niro has joined the cast of Neil Burger's upcoming suspense film The Dark Fields that's in development at Relativity Media in partnership with Universal. This, however, is not the same movie as The Fields (aka The Texas Killing Fields) that stars Sam Worthington and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (though Cooper was once rumored for a role in that as well). The Dark Fields - this one with De Niro and Cooper - is a thriller about a NYC writer who comes into possession of a designer drug that gives him newfound intelligence and success.
De Niro will play a brilliant financial mogul who begins pursuing Cooper's character. Since that description is a little vague, another synopsis from a previous article says that Cooper discovers "some mysterious men are in pursuit as he realizes the full potential of his intelligence comes with unforeseen dangers." Sounds kind of creepy and mysterious at the same time and I'm interested based on that plot alone. The script was written by Leslie Dixon (Hairspray, The Heartbreak Kid) and is based on Alan Glynn's novel of the same name. German filmmaker Neil Burger, who directed The Illusionist and the Iraq war dud The Lucky Ones, will start shooting this in Philadelphia in May. I like the cast so far, let's see who else they sign up for this.
