Rutger Hauer Starring in a Full 'Hobo With a Shotgun' Movie
Wait, what? There's a full-length Hobo With a Shotgun movie in the works?! Yep, there definitely is, and it actually starts shooting up in Halifax, Nova Scotia this very week. For those who don't know, Hobo With a Shotgun was originally the "fake" trailer that won the best Grindhouse trailer award when that movie was released a few years back. It was directed by Nova Scotia native Jason Eisener who also happens to be the guy who brought us the brilliant Treevenge short. A full-length feature version of Hobo is now in production up in Canada and even has an awesome actor to play the hobo - Rutger Hauer. Now that is great casting.
Ain't It Cool News broke this casting story earlier today with express confirmation from Eisener himself, so it's definitely accurate. Rutger Hauer is the Dutch actor who has starred in everything from Blade Runner (as bad guy Roy Batty) to The Hitcher (the original) to Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie) to Sin City (as Cardinal Roark) to Batman Begins (and many more I didn't mention). Since this literally is about a Hobo With a Shotgun, I think it's okay to say that Hauer will definitely kick some serious ass in this. The guy who played the original hobo in the trailer will at least get a cameo, but we're not sure who else in the cast yet.
You can check out the original trailer below. It is pretty awesome, so watch and get ready for a feature length version of this bad boy to go with Robert Rodriguez's Machete, now scheduled for release September 3rd.
