Scott Pilgrim

An epic of epic epicness. Where is that tagline this time? Empire has debuted the second brand new poster for Edgar Wright's highly anticipated upcoming movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, based on Bryan Lee O'Malley's awesome comic book series. Unfortunately this poster is not at all as impressive or as creative as the original teaser poster that was first unveiled back in March. The tagline is not as awesome, their pose is pretty dull, plus its got a bunch of faces/heads and that's it; this is not at all the kind of poster I was hoping we'd see. Maybe there will be another few posters released before the movie comes out? I certainly hope so!

Scott Pilgrim vs the World Poster

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is directed by brilliant British filmmaker Edgar Wright, of cult classics Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz previously. The screenplay was co-written by Edgar Wright and actor Michael Bacall and is based on the Oni Press comic book series of the same name. The story follows a Canadian boy named Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) who must defeat his new girlfriend's (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) seven evil exes in order to win her heart. We've been following this since it was announced and as a fan of the comic books, I'm very excited. Universal is bringing Scott Pilgrim vs. the World to theaters everywhere on August 13th!

The poster's perfectly fine, but if it hadn't been for Edgar Wright in the director's chair, I probably wouldn't think twice about the movie (haven't read the comic book, so I have no prior interest). That said, knowing Wright's ability to combine genre convention send-ups mixed with legitimately exciting action has me ready to see it on opening day.

Wright's a talented guy so I have the utmost faith in his adaptation skills as his original screenplays are some of the best of the past decade. I had no idea that he wrote The Adventures of Tin Tin: The Secret of the Unicorn, but now that I do, that project just got even more interesting. I can't wait to see this, I've been holding off on reading the comics so that Wright can introduce me to Mr. Pilgrim first.

I think its a better poster than the first. And its a pretty obvious poster to make, showing who "the world" that he is against is made up of. I like it. might look into the comic book series soon.

I am definitely looking forward to seeing this. That being said, you better see it quickly because I sense a bomb (amongst mainstream audiences) and will out of theaters in a couple weeks. Although the newest trailer did a much better job at selling the movie than the teaser did.

#5 You really should read what you write first, MILF wouldn't even be correct with that phrase. Sniff paint much?
