Now that you've seen it, what did you think? Arriving in theaters everywhere today is Disney's huge summer blockbuster, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, an imaginative live-action interpretation of the classic Mickey Mouse Sorcerer's Apprentice scene from Disney's Fantasia. It's directed by Jon Turtletaub, stars Nicolas Cage and Jay Baruchel, and is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. How does it live up to the last few live-action Disney fantasy movies? Is it a good summer popcorn flick or just mediocre? How was wacky Nic Cage? If you've seen it, leave us a comment and let us know what you thought of The Sorcerer's Apprentice!
To fuel the fire, I saw this a couple of weeks ago, and I enjoyed it at the time, but it isn't really anything I've been looking forward to seeing again since then. It's another one of those "meh" entertaining, fun summer movies, with some great moments, shot wonderfully, but it just doesn't stick. There's nothing that makes it truly unforgettably entertainment, just a bit of light, ditzy summer fun. I was considerably impressed with Jay Baruchel and even Teresa Palmer, but Molina was lackluster and so was Cage. It's fun, but it could have been more epic and a lot more enthralling, but maybe that's asking for too much from a Disney family film?
