Sound Off: Disney's The Sorcerer's Apprentice - Your Thoughts?

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? Arriving in theaters everywhere today is Disney's huge summer blockbuster, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, an imaginative live-action interpretation of the classic Mickey Mouse Sorcerer's Apprentice scene from Disney's Fantasia. It's directed by Jon Turtletaub, stars Nicolas Cage and Jay Baruchel, and is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. How does it live up to the last few live-action Disney fantasy movies? Is it a good summer popcorn flick or just mediocre? How was wacky Nic Cage? If you've seen it, leave us a comment and let us know what you thought of The Sorcerer's Apprentice!
To fuel the fire, I saw this a couple of weeks ago, and I enjoyed it at the time, but it isn't really anything I've been looking forward to seeing again since then. It's another one of those "meh" entertaining, fun summer movies, with some great moments, shot wonderfully, but it just doesn't stick. There's nothing that makes it truly unforgettably entertainment, just a bit of light, ditzy summer fun. I was considerably impressed with Jay Baruchel and even Teresa Palmer, but Molina was lackluster and so was Cage. It's fun, but it could have been more epic and a lot more enthralling, but maybe that's asking for too much from a Disney family film?
What did you think of Sorcerer's Apprentice? An entertaining Disney flick or just mediocre?

It's okay. Not exactly a classic like the Percy Jackson film though.

It's not as bad as you might expect, but it's not as great as it could've been either. Some moments shitty, some moments great. Nic Cage was great throughout though.

Percy Jackson is a classic?!?!?! #1 is banned from ever commenting on movies.

You need to remember that this is a fun family movie. It was what it was supposed to be. BTW, Jay hanging the Molina's hat on the fence at the end totally means there is going to be a sequal with Molina as the villain.

The best part of this whole article is #1's comments that Percy Jackson is a classic film ... Thanks #1 for getting my day off with such a great laugh ... LOL

I had free passes for the Midnight.....so when I walked out after about 20 minutes of Cage screen time , my opinon of Cage's "talent" has changed..............he is so much worse than I had percieved. Could very well be the worst of all time. And Barachel.....I cringed at every frame he was in. * On a lighter note, guess I better go rent the BD of "Percy Jackson". I had no idea.

Percy Jackson IS a classic of: 1.) How not to shoot a movie, 2.) How not to cast a movie, 3:) How not to write a movie, 4.) How one should not fund a movie.

I went in with low expectations and came out surprised and actually enjoyed it. I despise Harry Potter films (sorry fans), I should say the films themselves are done well but the whole thought of there being a school for wizards is just a lame concept to begin with (IMO). At least S.A. goes about it at a different angle with a sorcerer finding an apprentice and teaches him. I'm not comparing the two movies just sighting the differences of movies that are about sorcerers and wizards. It actually reminded me more of a Star Wars Ep I/II with a Jedi master teaching his young padawan (sp?). Another plus to this movie is that it's filled with many action packed scenes that are visually stunning and it's PG. Great movie for the kids 10 and under especially if they're not into animated movies. It's a fun movie, very predictable but most Disney movies are. I was disapointed when many of the clips from trailer were NOT shown in the movies. I was waiting for certain lines that I never heard. I guess they'll be on the DVD. I'll probably get the Blu-Ray when it comes out. Enjoy it, the kids will like it and it's a nice change from the animated movies.

Don't read peoples comments if you don't want to read spoilers

I think the only thing that would make me see it is if before the movie, they showed the actual clip from Fantasia. To the ppl that saw it, did they do that? Cause if im seeing this, I demand a news real and cartoon to go w/ my movie.
