Spielberg is Shopping a Script About Jackie Kennedy Onassis
by Ethan Anderton
March 18, 2010
Though he hasn't decided on his next directing gig, that doesn't mean Steven Spielberg isn't a busy man as LA Times' 24 Frames is reporting that the director/producer is currently shopping around a buzzed about script that focuses on the late First Lady Jackie Kennedy Onassis (seen above), wife of President John F. Kennedy. The script comes from journalist, author and former "Today Show" producer Noah Oppenheim and focuses on the days immediately following the assassination of JFK from her point-of-view. Since HBO is a lead contender to buy the script, it remains to be seen if this will hit theaters or just on the television.
Since Spielberg has a great relationship with HBO (his brilliant new mini-series The Pacific just debuted last weekend), it seems like HBO will probably get the project, but this is Hollywood and anything can and will happen. Either way, the lives of the entire Kennedy family have been the subject of numerous television and film adaptations, but with Spielberg being involved as a producer, this isn't an ordinary project. Since he hasn't chosen a new project as a director, maybe he can take it upon himself to helm this one. We'll keep you updated on this either way, since it sounds like an interesting project. Anyone looking forward to this?
