Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer

It's a hell of a year for documentaries. Another one to add to your list of docs to see by the end of the year is Alex Gibney's Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer, an investigative inside look at the downfall of former New York governor Eliot Spitzer, who resigned after a prostitution scandal in '08. Spitzer appears in Charles Ferguson's Inside Job and I've heard some refer to Client 9 as an unofficial sequel to Inside Job, in that it looks at this story of what happened to him when he started to fight against the greedy CEOs who control Wall St. Magnolia debuted the official trailer on Apple and it looks damn good. Check it out below!

Investigating the sex scandal that forced New York's Governor to resign, Gibney has revelatory interviews from Spitzer, his most frequent escort and his Wall St. enemies that bring new perspective on his downfall.

Client 9: The Rise & Fall of Eliot Spitzer is written/directed by Oscar winning documentarian Alex Gibney, of the docs Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, Taxi to the Dark Side, Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, Casino Jack and the United States of Money as well as Freakonomics. This premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and is being brought theaters by Magnolia Pictures starting on November 5th.

Alex Gibney's film on Spitzer is a total propaganda piece designed to whitewash Spitzer and his betrayal of the public trust. Gibney even utilizes an actress to play an "anonymous' prostitute who denies that Spitzer cavorted in black knee socks in the boudoir-----a total Hollywood contrivance. The New York Post confirmed with an FBI source that Spitzer frolicked with call girls in his droopy black hosiery! This movie---like the companion book-- is a totally intellectually dishonest con-job. Spitzer is a 24 carat phoney and a serial law-breaker and hypocrite. oh shut up number 1. spitzer was against the big wigs on wall st and was a walking target. he had sex with a call girl. he used public funds for it. bad decision. but compared with the robbery wall street committed on the american people it was NOTHING! and it would have been better if spitzer never fell.

I liked Spitzer. He spoke the truth to power, and right wing conservative losers again run their mouth on stupidity, just like they always do. Like Clinton, I do not give a damn about another man gettin' his booty. Conservatives are a joke.

I agree with 2... When you're playing this game the first thing they do is attack your credibility and in this case, it worked and they got Spitzer out of their business.
