WORTH WATCHING
Watch: First Five Minutes of The Disappearance of Alice Creed
by Alex Billington
July 4, 2010
We normally don't condone the viewing of actual clips from movies because I believe they ruin scenes which are best experienced in theaters in the proper context of the movie. However, I'm making an exception today to feature the first five minutes of The Disappearance of Alice Creed, a British crime thriller about two guys who kidnap Alice Creed (played by Gemma Arterton). We featured the official trailer back in April and I gave the film a solid 7.5 out of 10 in my review from the Toronto Film Festival. It's a great film and these first five minutes are some of the best, setting an intense tone that should make you want to watch the rest.
Watch the first five minutes of J Blakeson's The Disappearance of Alice Creed:
Two men fortify a nondescript British apartment so it can serve as a prison, then kidnap a woman and tie her to a bed. Before there's even time to react, we're plunged into a nasty situation, but not a simple one.
The Disappearance of Alice Creed is written and directed by up-and-coming British filmmaker J Blakeson, who made his feature debut on this after a few shorts. It first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and also showed at the London Film Festival. Anchor Bay Films is distributing in the US. They'll be bringing The Disappearance of Alice Creed to limited US theaters and VOD starting on August 6th later in the summer. I highly suggest seeing this!
