The Town

They're already running TV spots for this? I guess it does arrive in the next month. The first TV spot for Ben Affleck's The Town, his upcoming Boston-set crime drama, has been uploaded to YouTube for your viewing pleasure. Yes, this still looks a bit like Heat, but I don't care, I really want to see it, I've got faith in Affleck as a filmmaker, and I think it looks damn good. The cast alone has me sold - Jeremy Renner, Jon Hamm, Ben Affleck, Rebecca Hall, Chris Cooper - all in a big love-triangle-ish crime movie? Awesome. I still prefer the trailer but this is a good teaser for the movie that will hopefully keep your interest piqued until its released.

Watch the first new TV spot for Ben Affleck's The Town:

As he plans his next job, a longtime thief tries to balance his feelings for a bank manager connected to one of his earlier heists, as well as the FBI agent trying to bring his crew down. Based on Chuck Hogan's book.

The Town is both written and directed by Boston native actor-turned-filmmaker Ben Affleck, who made his feature directorial debut with the drama Gone Baby Gone a few years back. Affleck co-wrote the screenplay with Peter Craig (Waterbug) and Sheldon Turner (Up in the Air). It's based on Chuck Hogan's novel Prince of Thieves first published in 04. Warner Bros will be bringing The Town to theaters this September 17th.

trailer was better. i'm into this movie and think it's going to be a good watch - although i don't think it's fair to compare it with "heat"........i doubt it will measure up to that.

Ben Affleck is talented and this definitely looks like a hit! Glad to see him back in an intense movie
  • That may have been the worst TV spot I've ever seen.

Bah....The Town's overrated.  It doesn't live up to all the hype that it's given.
