Watch: KNB's Behind-the-Scenes Video for 'The Walking Dead'
One thing I love about my job is that I often get an intimate look at the behind-the-scenes and technical side of filmmaking. Over the years I've come to love and appreciation the work that KNB, a legendary special FX company, does on all kinds of movies. If there's any blood or zombies or vampires or any creatures involved, KNB probably did the make-up for it. They're the best of the best and I don't often have a good opportunity to highlight them, which is why I'm breaking our own rules to feature this fantastic behind-the-scenes video created for AMC's adaptation of the zombie comic series "The Walking Dead" (from Bloody-Disgusting).
Watch a behind-the-scenes video about "Bicycle Girl" with KNB for AMC's "The Walking Dead":
KNB EFX Group is run by make-up/special effects veterans Gregory Nicotero and Howard Berger (also originally founded by Robert Kurtzman). Nicotero specifically appears in this and it's a rare opportunity to see him working on turning an actor into a zombie and it's awesome to see. AMC's "The Walking Dead", based on Robert Kirkman's popular comic book series, tells the story of the weeks and months that follow a pandemic zombie apocalypse. Old world Sheriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) travels with his family and a small group of survivors, constantly in search of a safe and secure home. This is one TV show that I cannot wait to see once it debuts in October. You can also find the teaser trailer from Comic-Con still on YouTube.
