Get Low Trailer

Sony Pictures Classics has debuted the first official trailer for Aaron Schneider's Get Low starring Robert Duvall, Bill Murray, Lucas Black and Sissy Spacek. This period flick is some kind of half-comedy, half-drama about a hermit who hosts his own funeral "party" before he's even dead. This trailer isn't that great (it's too cheery), but I can assure you it's a fantastic film. I saw it in Toronto and loved it (9 out of 10 in my review) and then Brandon saw it at Sundance and also loved it (8 out of 10 in his review). It does have a great story, but it also has great performances (Duvall could get an Oscar) and great cinematography, too. Check it out!

A movie spun out of equal parts folk tale, fable and real-life legend about the mysterious, 1930s Tennessee hermit (Robert Duvall) who famously threw his own rollicking funeral party… while he was still alive.

Get Low is directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Aaron Schneider, who directed the short Two Soldiers and was a cinematographer previously. The screenplay was co-written by Chris Provenzano ("Mad Men") and C. Gaby Mitchell (Blood Diamond) and is based on the real-life story of Felix Bush. It premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year. Sony Pictures Classics is bringing Get Low to theaters on July 30th this summer.

Lucas Black will always be the kid from "Slingblade". But I love the fact he finding good roles. Now if he could just do a film set out of the south and out of a street racer......
