Day of the Comet Trailer

Our friends at Ain't It Cool News found this awesome trailer for a French film called Le Jour de la Comete, or Day of the Comet in English. As described by the filmmakers themselves, this fun fantasy/sci-fi flick is an homage to the "Back to the Future generation" of the 80's and films like The Goonies and Gremlins. They also mention Creepshow and Tales from the Crypt, but I think that reference only means that this is just an anthology film. The story is about three kids who makes wishes when they see Halley's Comet but it leads to disaster, so they "therefore have a day to repair the damage." It looks like it'll be a lot of fun - check it out!

Le Jour de la Comete, or Day of the Comet, is co-directed by Cédric Hachard, Hervé Freiburger & Sébastien Milhou. According to the information on their Facebook page, this will be hitting DVD and TV in France this year, so it's actually more of a straight-to-DVD B-movie, but that doesn't mean it won't show up at festivals here in the US (maybe Fantastic Fest?). This was produced by Forge Productions, Pulpstation, and Viking Productions. We don't know much else about this and it's not even listed on IMDb, so we'll just have to keep our eyes and ears open for more news. That is, if anyone wants to know more? So what did you think?

  • I think this looks pretty bad, god I miss Independent American Cinema... These European trailers can get a little too crazy and abstract for my tastes sometimes.

Wow leave it to the french to ruin a good movie

What do you mean by that Jimmy Love? Personally. i love french cinema. Maybe i just watch the good stuff, but i have never seen a french film i haven't loved. Furthermore, i can't really think of any foreign film i've seen that i didn't think was great.

  • Crazy enough to work...although I think the 80's style helps sell this a good bit. I just bought a "mobile" had me chuckling. Looks like a fun romp, I'm in!
