Piranha 3D Trailer

How fast can you swim? Earlier this week we re-published the original teaser trailer for Alexandre Aja's Piranha 3D that showed in front of Avatar last year. However, Dimension Films has finally debuted the official theatrical trailer for Piranha 3D that's longer, deadlier, and funnier than that first one. As insanely cheesy as this looks (how many women in bikinis can you spot?), I've got to admit that it just looks like pure fun, like a true throwback to the horror of the 70's. I know this definitely isn't for everyone, but some of you may find that this looks frickin' awesome. And holy crap, it's SO good to see Christopher Lloyd again!

A tremor under the surface of Lake Victoria in Arizona unleashes scores of prehistoric piranhas, an event which rallies the local sheriff Julie Forester (Elisabeth Shue), who risks everything to save her townsfolk.

Piranha 3D is directed by French horror filmmaker Alexandre Aja, of High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes (the remake) and Mirrors previously. The film's screenplay was co-written by Alexandre Aja, Josh Stolberg (Good Luck Chuck, Sorority Row), Pete Goldfinger (Sorority Row), and Grégory Levasseur (High Tension, P2, Mirrors). The Weinstein Company will be bringing Piranha 3D to theaters starting on August 20th.

Are the piranhas an allegory to the droves of people that will probably see this film? Hehe on the other hand it's good to see the Doc again

Jacksion on Apr 30, 2010

Looks like a slightly higher class of SyFy original movies. I'll be there opening weekend!

Hooper's inboard is about to get turned into an outboard, while Donny Donowitz sprays beer at chicks.

Rick on May 1, 2010

I'm actually gonna say that this looks a hell of a lot better than the original. I'll see it. It looks like a fun movie to see.

arjones on May 1, 2010

Looks like fun...not sure if I want to see it in 3D or not. Looks cheesy enough...I wish my drive in had 3D for like $8 since their reg price is $4.

Looks like one of those 3/10 rated movies that is actually fun if you watch it with a lot of people and mock everything that's going on.

pleasepleaseplease on May 1, 2010

I havent seen a movie with such tone confusion sense Natural Born Killers. It doesn't seem to know if its dumb fun (the original Piranha) or serious horror (Jaws). Lets not forget this is from the acclaimed director of Mirrors, easily the worst member of the splat pack.

was that eli roth in the trailer? the guy that was holding the squirt gun at 1:41

matthew on May 1, 2010

#12 and #27, I thought that looked like Eli Roth too! This trailer had me cracking up. Especially the very last scene with the girl and the pack staring at her. It reminded me of Alien.

xCloudbox on May 1, 2010

^ Yep that is Eli Roth. He has a "cameo" in this as the wet t-shirt contest host. Definitely is him! đŸ™‚

Alex Billington on May 1, 2010

Wow! I just saw the trailer yesterday during the nightmare on elm street previews... STUPID!! Haha a guy in the theater yelled "stupid!" right after the trailer.. Then the predators trailer was on, he said "now thats better!" and he started clapping. Lol

Mini Jaws!

I have no fucking idea how the guy who directed the brilliant High Tension (Switchblade Romance)...can go on to make this straight to dvd style bullshit! Since when do fish roar?! File this one next to Final Destination part 3 and 4 and My Bloody Valentine.....not scary, not funny, not worth your cash! Wait for it on cable.

vegasdanny on May 3, 2010

Umm.....anybody else notice Richard Dreyfuss in the boat?

Rob on May 9, 2010

Must be horror

LED Display on May 9, 2010

I was in Havasu last year when they were making this film. a herpes virus had killed off all of the Carp, and there were huge dead fish floating everywhere. Another stupid 3-D horror waste!

saunie on Aug 9, 2010

Are you kidding? PIRANHAS ROAR!!!! hahaha its getting great reviews, even Rotten Tomatoes its at 80%?! Can't wait, DYING to see it. Fave review so far lists the reason to see it Reason 2.) Tons of gory scenes in which prehistoric, ravenous fish chew on shrieking people, most of whom have it coming for being A) obnoxious, B) selfish, or C) really, really hot. YES!! Rest of the Review:
