Wesley Snipes Set to Star in Martial Arts Comedy 'Master Daddy'
Don't let the title fool you, this doesn't really sound that bad. Although he's been talking about the return of the Blade series and another J. Edgar Hoover film with other members of the press, Wesley Snipes is also lining up some other projects. Variety reports that Snipes will both star in & produce a martial arts comedy called Master Daddy. "This multi-racial action comedy is a mix of Kung Fu Hustle and Meet the Parents," Snipes said. That doesn't sound too good. Tayrona Entertainment is cofinancing with Snipes' Maandi Media Entertainment, with production beginning this fall for release sometime in 2011. But there's more - read on!
Not only will Master Daddy star Snipes, but the film will feature cameos and performances from dozens of other martial arts and fighting arts stars including: Chuck Norris, Chiba, Frazier, Gracie, Hung, Inosanto, Jaa, Rhee, Kim, Lee Mosely, Bob Wall, Rampage, Anderson Silva and Ron Van Cleff. Additionally, musicians Rock Steady, Jabbawakkies and Quest Crew will perform in this. That's why I think this might actually be pretty damn good. I mean come on, he's got Chuck frickin' Norris, that already means he's got a leg up on The Expendables. Oddly, Variety doesn't say who's writing or directing, so we have no clue who is handling the filmmaking side, but I'm assuming it's not a big name or we'd know by now, but we'll keep you updated!
