WB is Remaking 'Lethal Weapon', 'Westworld' & 'The Wild Bunch'?

Lethal Weapon

"I'm getting too old for this shit." A whole bunch of remakes, yes more of them, in development at Warner Bros just made themselves known thanks to an exec leaving the company. THR reports that an executive VP at the studio named Jessica Goodman left and her projects that she was working will move to other execs. So what did she have? In addition to remakes of The Dirty Dozen, Oh God and Tarzan (some of which we have heard about before), other remakes she was working on were Lethal Weapon, Westworld and The Wild Bunch. Too many remakes, give it a rest! But that's not it, as some of them are in active development.

Another Full Trailer for 'Red Riding Hood' with Amanda Seyfried

Red Riding Hood Trailer

"I've never seen a beast as strong as this..." Warner Bros has released another full-length trailer (on Apple) for Catherine Hardwicke's Red Riding Hood, the new "gothic" take on the red riding hood story starring Amanda Seyfried, as well as Gary Oldman, Lukas Haas, Billy Burke, Virginia Madsen, Shiloh Fernandez and many more. This isn't any more impressive than the first full trailer from last year, that is to say, it's not really that entertaining at all. Not really sure how many people are going to be interested in this, but give it at shot. The best part is Gary Oldman, but he's always great. Check it out and let us know what you think?

Robert Downey Jr Leaves Sam Raimi's 'Oz The Great and Powerful'

Wizard of Oz

Though we got confirmation last year that Sam Raimi's next film would be Oz: The Great and Powerful, an origin story about the infamous Wizard of Oz, it sounds like he'll be doing it without Robert Downey Jr. Though the actor had previously been attached to the gestating project, THR reports he has since dropped out of the project and Disney is now in discussions with Johnny Depp to take over the role of a young illusionist with a grandiose attitude who is forced to flee a traveling circus. His hot air balloon is swept up by a tornado to the land of Oz, which is run by two magical wicked witches. More below!

Mike White No Longer Directing 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies'

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies / Mike White

Last November we found out that actor, writer and director Mike White (who wrote and starred in School of Rock and directed Year of the Dog) had signed on to helm Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the gestating adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's zombie-infused telling of Jane Austen's period romance. Now the project seems to be without a director yet again though as Deadline reports White was forced to drop out of the director's chair because of a preexisting commitment at HBO (likely involving the series "Enlightened" for which he already directed the pilot). Sadly scheduling did not allow White to do both.

Sacha Gervasi to Write/Direct 'Hitchcock & the Making of Psycho'

Sacha Gervasi / Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho

They're going to make the "Making of Psycho" as a feature film? That could actually be pretty damn cool to see. 24 Frames is reporting an interesting story regarding British filmmaker Sacha Gervasi, who directed the doc hit Anvil! The Story of Anvil, who is apparently (in discussions) to write and direct a project called Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho that is about, as you guessed, the legendary filmmaker and his quintessential 1960 black & white horror flick. Details aren't all confirmed yet, but the project is in the works at Montecito Pictures and will be based on Stephen Rebello's 20-year-old book of the same name.

Sony Picks Up Neill Blomkamp's 'Elysium' + Plenty More New Info

Neill Blomkamp

The newest sci-fi project from District 9 director Neill Blomkamp titled Elysium has been in the news quite a bit recently, from casting and more casting. Well, Deadline has posted a big update with lots of new info on the project, including that Sony Pictures won the rights for distribution (expected because they were also behind D9) and that it's set 100 years in the future, but that's almost all we know. But one of the coolest little bits of news to come out of this is that Syd Mead, a designer who worked on various sci-fi classics like Blade Runner, will design the sets for Elysium. Neill has been pitching to studios this past week. Read on!

Release Date Shifts - 'John Carter of Mars' vs. 'Prometheus' in 2012?

John Carter of Mars

This seems odd. Disney has announced a few release date shifts for two major projects in 2012. The first is John Carter of Mars, the epic sci-fi Edgar Rice Burroughs adaptation directed by Andrew Stanton. It was originally scheduled for summer on June 8th, 2012, but The Wrap says Disney has moved it to March 9th. Not a big concern - except that Fox just scheduled Ridley Scott's Prometheus, that Alien-prequel-turned-original-sci-fi project, in that exact same date. Uh oh. Two humongous new sci-fi movies going head to head in 2012? One of them is going to move out of that spot, that's for sure and I'm expecting it to be Prometheus.

Watch: New Featurette for George Nolfi's 'The Adjustment Bureau'

The Adjustment Bureau

Ohhh what happened to this flick... It looks good, why is it getting dumped?! Moviefone has debuted a new full featurette for George Nolfi's The Adjustment Bureau, the latest upcoming Philip K. Dick adaptation starring Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Terence Stamp, John Slattery and Anthony Mackie. This was supposed to be released last year, but was delayed until March, and we haven't seen anything from it since the first trailer. I just think this has a great sci-fi concept behind it and some sleek filmmaking courtesy of Nolfi, I just hope it's as good as it looks like it could be in the end. You can watch the new feuatrette below!

Ewan McGregor & Eva Green in the First Trailer for 'Perfect Sense'

Perfect Sense Trailer

Without love there is nothing. One of the many films premiering at Sundance starting this week is one called Perfect Sense, a romantic "thriller" of sorts staring Ewan McGregor and Eva Green. Like many films at the fest, I don't know much about this, but MTV debuted an early trailer for it and it looks phenomenal, so much so that I had to stop watching (so as to not ruin any of it). The concept involves "what it means to love and be loved in these turbulent times." It looks like a charming romance about two people who do find love in these otherwise crazy times. This looks gorgeously shot and riveting for a romance. Can't wait to see this!

Anne Hathaway Officially Cast as Catwoman in 'Dark Knight Rises'!

Anne Hathaway / Catwoman

Out of almost nowhere, Warner Bros decides to drop some confirmation on two major roles in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. The nice was announced in a press release and apparently the two roles cast today are roles no one expected. First, Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle, the altar ego of Catwoman! "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story," Nolan said. And second, Tom Hardy, who we already know is in the cast, has been confirmed as the villain Bane, another very odd pick most didn't see coming.

Joe Johnston Talks First Cut of Captain America: The First Avenger

Captain America

We just got our first very good look at Chris Evans in the full costume for Captain America: The First Avenger last week. It wasn't mindblowing but the action shot above (see the full version right here) really gives Captain America an old-time war hero kind of feel (and I like that). Photos are cool to see, but we're still waiting for the first trailer to show up. Meanwhile, director Joe Johnston has already finished the first cut of the film, and it's no surprise that he's very complimentary. Johnston sat down with Hero Complex and said, "I just looked at the first cut and there is so much entertainment value — it’s just flat-out fun to watch."
