Official Trailer for Indie Comedy 'Peep World' with Michael C. Hall
It's still indie week with Sundance going into its last few days, so we've got another delightful indie comedy trailer to run. IFC Films released the official trailer for Peep World, a dysfunctional family comedy about four siblings whose lives are ruined when a book exposes all of their secrets and embarrassing problems. It stars quite a few great actors: Michael C. Hall, Sarah Silverman, Kate Mara, Rainn Wilson, Judy Greer, Ben Schwartz, Taraji Henson and Ron Rifkin as the dad. This looks like one of those amusing indies to watch one summer evening when you want to laugh with friends -- or maybe your family. Enjoy!

Sundance 2011 Quick Reviews: 'The Convincer' and 'Perfect Sense'
The end of the world has been foretold over and over in many movies, and more often than not, it really does end with a bang. But in Perfect Sense, the world, or at least humanity, feels the effects of a crippling epidemic. We first meet Susan (Eva Green) after a tough break-up, suddenly a more immediate concern presents itself in her scientific field of epidemiology. A Glasgow man has turned up after experiencing a hysterical crying fit only to discover that upon calming himself, he was suddenly without the sense of smell. Then she learns similar cases have turned up in Britain, France and Italy all within the past 24 hours.

Watch: Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer in 'Beginners' Trailer
I hope it lasts... Focus Features has debuted the first official trailer for Thumbsucker director Mike Mills' new film Beginners, starring Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer, that first premiered at the Toronto Film Fest last year. Plummer stars as the father of McGregor who, after being married for 44 years, comes out as being gay. This actually looks incredibly charming and extremely entertaining, I'm sad I never got to see it. I've heard great reviews, too. It also stars Mélanie Laurent, who always melts my heart when I see her. I really suggest watching this trailer, you might find yourself sold already. Watch the trailer below!

With Viggo Mortensen in place to assist Snow White and Charlize Theron in line to terrorize her, the fairytale beauty has yet to be cast. When news of Mortensen's casting surfaced yesterday, it was said Universal was interested in finding a fresh face in the way Paramount found young Hailee Steinfeld for True Grit. Well apparently Deadline and THR have some new information that pegs Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) and Kirsten Stewart (The Twilight Saga) as the contenders.

Javier Bardem Has Officially Been Offered Lead Role in 'Dark Tower'
Yesterday we heard some surprising news about who might lead the anticipated adaptation of Stephen King's Dark Tower series. While Viggo Mortensen and Javier Bardem were considered frontrunners, the same source who brought those names to light also discovered that Christian Bale had become the top contender. Well, apparently Universal Pictures thought otherwise as Deadline reports that Bardem has officially been extended an offer to play Roland Deschain, the last living member of a knightly order of gunslingers, and humanity's last hope to save a civilization that will crumble unless he finds the Dark Tower.

Watch: Stunning Visual FX Demo Reel for Aronofsky's 'Black Swan'
Although it didn't receive an Oscar nomination in the Visual Effects category, anyone who has seen Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan knows that there are some incredible visual effects used seamlessly in the movie. They're also very key to the story and the film just wouldn't be the same if they weren't as amazing as they are. Look Effects (via RopeofSilicon) recently debuted a fantastic effects reel and behind-the-scenes look at the CGI work that went into the film. The site fxguide also has more extensive reading on all the effects. It's mesmerizing to watch and should leave you more than impressed. This has big spoilers so watch out.

Discuss: Art is Subjective, But Does an Objectively Good Film Exist?
I've written a lot about movies. I've written a lot about Art as a kingdom, for that matter. And as we are all aware, it's all subjective. Not only is what I write filtered through my experiences, my likes and dislikes, my emotions and personal connections, but what every observer of Art feels is laden with their own filters. This is why we naturally gravitate toward critics and reviewers who share the most filters with us. When we read them, they speak for us. Sure, it's just confirmation bias. And I'm sure you all, like me, also seek out opposing viewpoints, too, but if we have no voice of our own finding one similar can be a powerful thing.

Harvey Weinstein is Going to Cut 'King's Speech' Down to PG-13?!
Are you ready to be disgusted? Yesterday, an article hit on the LA Times saying that Harvey Weinstein of The Weinstein Company, the distributor releasing The King's Speech, was considering re-editing the film and removing a few key scenes where the language used originally gave the film an R-rating. Apparently the $60 million its made so far (well above 127 Hours' $11M) wasn't enough, and they want to make even more, so they're going to cut it down to a PG-13 or even PG rating so that "kids" can go see it. In no way is this an acceptable idea, if they change it to suit the MPAA's rules, they'll be ruining the integrity of the entire film!

Mark Heyman Writing Sci-Fi 'Age of Rage' for Director Marc Webb
We know that director Marc Webb (seen above) is currently out directing Spider-Man for Sony, but that also means he's got some big projects lined up. Fox Searchlight has another one in the works called Age of Rage, a "sophisticated sci-fi project" that Marc Webb is attached to direct. Heat Vision reports that Mark Heyman, an executive from Darren Aronofsky's Protozoa Pictures who help co-write Black Swan, is now attached to write the screenplay. He's already set to write Machine Man for Aronofsky as well and is known for his expertise in "elevated genre," as this kind of project is referred to. So what is Age of Rage all about?
