Creepy-Looking Leighton Meester Searching for New 'Roommate'

The Roommate

Psychos need not apply. Does anyone remember that fun trailer for that new cheesy horror flick called The Roommate starring Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly? The one where Meester and Kelly got a little intimate then presume to stalk each other and start dressing alike as well. Yea, I'm not really interested in seeing it either, but I do appreciate a good poster or two. This one, though, may not be that creative, but it's at least an intriguing concept. IMPAwards recently revealed another poster for the movie and it's basically a "Roommate Wanted" ad disguised as a movie poster. Will it actually convince anyone to see this? I doubt it.

Danny Boyle's '127 Hours' Gets a Big Oscar Nom Push Next Week

Danny Boyle's 127 Hours

Although it officially opened in theaters on November 5th last year, Danny Boyle's new film 127 Hours is still playing, and it's not doing too well, unfortunately, but it deserves better. Box Office Mojo reports that it's earned $11.1 million so far, well below Black Swan ($77M) or The King's Speech ($49M). Expecting that James Franco, who stars as Aron Ralston, and others involved will get Oscar nominations next week when they're announced Tuesday, January 25th, THR reports that Fox Searchlight is expanding its release from 76 theaters to 600 theaters on January 28th next week. Hopefully this will get some folks back into theaters.

Clint Eastwood Set to Direct Beyoncé in Remake of 'A Star is Born'

Clint Eastwood

It's been a while since we had an update on the development of the remake of the 1954 musical A Star is Born (which itself was a remake of the 1937 film of the same name). We'd previously heard that Gerard Butler might be up for the lead male role to star opposite chart-topping singer turned actress Beyoncé after rumors of Russell Crowe's involvement seemed to be false. Now we have big news for the gestating musical though as Deadline reports Clint Eastwood will not only produce the project for Warner Bros., but he will also direct the film from a script by Will Fetters (Remember Me). But what's going on with the male lead?

Sundance 2011 Kicks Off Tonight & Our Coverage Begins Today!

Sundance Film Festival

Another year, another Sundance Film Festival, but I absolutely love this fest, so despite all the cold and snow, I'm always happy to return. I'll be attending the fest for my 5th year in a row, along with our writer Ethan Anderton, attending Sundance for his first time, which is always exciting. I always imagine I'll see as much as I can before the fest, but when I get here and start trudging through the snow I'm reminded why it gets harder every year to see five films every last day. We'll also be providing interviews and video reviews and more, so expect lots of Sundance coverage for the next few week as well all of our normal coverage, too.

Russell Brand Ready to Rock for Adam Shankman's 'Rock of Ages'

Russell Brand

After being offered a role in Adam Shankman's big screen adaptation of musical Rock of Ages, it sounds like Tom Cruise is very close to finalizing a deal to play a bartender who gets to rock out to a slew of classic 80's song from all the best hair bands of the time. But while that deal isn't official yet, the project may have landed another great name who has plenty of experience with rocking out. Deadline reports Russell Brand is circling the role of Lonnie, a guy who runs an 80's rock club called The Bourbon. It sounds like this is the same club where Tom Cruise would be belting out rock hits while reliving his bartending days from Cocktail.

Content-Filled New 'Battle: Los Angeles' Viral Website Discovered

Battle: Los Angeles

One movie coming up this spring that has built a lot of buzz thanks to some awesome trailers is Battle: Los Angeles, the Black Hawk Down-alien-invasion flick starring Aaron Eckhart. A viral for the film kicked off at Comic-Con, but it wasn't much besides a website and posters tied into the 1942 Battle of Los Angeles UFO event. However, our cohorts at MovieViral have been following each and every new reveal in the viral and discovered a major new viral website packed full of content located at unidentifiedenemy.com. Most of it is badass alien imagery and details on their weaponry and technology. Yea, you've got to check this site out.

Cool New Photos for Paul W.S. Anderson's 'The Three Musketeers'

The Three Musketeers

While an all-new take on The Three Musketeers in 3D sounded like fun, we weren't thrilled when Paul W.S. Anderson was hired to sit in the director's chair. However, a decent cast combined with a couple promising first looks has made me a little more optimistic. Now two more photos have just cropped up showing some of our characters in action. The more contemporary re-imagining of Alexander Dumas' classic story follows the hot-headed young D'Artagnan who joins forces with three veteran Musketeers to prevent the villainous Cardinal Richelieu from seizing the French throne and engulfing Europe in war.

Sacha Baron Cohen's 'The Dictator' Hitting Theaters in May 2012

Book / Sacha Baron Cohen

Last November we found out that Sacha Baron Cohen would be reuniting with his Borat and Brüno director Larry Charles for their first non-mockumentary film The Dictator. The film was said to follow a goat herder and a deposed foreign dictator who gets lost in the U.S.. But today Paramount Pictures announced a slightly different logline along with a theatrical release date of May 11, 2012. Apparently Saddam Hussein's best-selling novel Zabibah and the King inspired the story which sees a dictator risk his life to ensure democracy will never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.

Will Smith and His Daughter Willow to Remake 'Annie' with Jay-Z?

Will Smith / Willow Smith

Since his production company Overbrook Entertainment and son Jaden Smith fared decently at the box office with their remake of The Karate Kid, producer and father Will Smith is now looking to team up with his daughter Willow Smith (already famous for her popular song Whip My Hair) for another remake. Variety reports the father-daughter-duo are working with Sony to develop a remake of Annie, the 1977 Broadway musical about a spunky little orphan girl who desperately wants to find her parents. In addition, rapper Jay-Z (who worked with Willow on her hit song) is in talks to collaborate on the music.

New Photos, Poster, Interviews & More from 'X-Men: First Class'!

X-Men: First Class

Yesterday, the floodgates on Matthew Vaughn's highly anticipated comic book movie X-Men: First Class opened, much to 20th Century Fox's chagrin. Apparently the first photo of the cast that arrived, which most people didn't like, wasn't the way Fox or Vaughn wanted to introduce everyone to these new superheroes. So in response, numerous articles have been hitting the web featuring interviews, teaser posters, numerous better photos and much more to appease the fans. Despite that first look, I still think this looks awesome, I have faith in Vaughn. And you'll see why there is not much to worry about with in a few new photos below.

Watch: Official US Trailer for 80's Coming of Age Film 'Skateland'

Skateland Trailer

Sundance 2011 is about to kick off, so it's a trip down memory lane for me to watch this, since Skateland premiered at Sundance last year and that's where I saw it. The film is a vintage 80's coming-of-age drama starring Ashley Greene, Shiloh Fernandez, A.J. Buckley and Haley Ramm and more. It follows a group of kids and explores how their lives change when the local roller rink shuts down. It's actually pretty good, but nothing incredible, but this new official trailer from MTV sells it very well. In fact, I want to see this again, looking forward to rewatching it. Oh but watch out, because Ashley Greene will melt your heart.
