Nicolas Winding Refn Directing Ryan Gosling in a New 'Logan's Run'
More news from the "no way!" department. Deadline reports that Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn has secured the directing job on Silver Pictures' remake of the 1976 sci-fi Logan's Run. But that's not all, as Refn comes attached with actor Ryan Gosling, who is making his tentpole movie "leap" and starring in the sci-fi flick as Logan 5, a "Sandman" whose job it was to put to permanent sleep those who try to escape mandatory death. It's obvious that studios have wanted to get Gosling back into the mix since The Notebook in 2004, but he's been staying on the edge with indies and working with directors like Refn and Cianfrance.

As promised, following our Ed Helms interview, here's the second half of our chat with the team behind Fox Searchlight's Cedar Rapids (watch the trailer), hitting limited theaters this weekend. At Sundance a few weeks ago, we got to interview Miguel Arteta, the Puerto Rican filmmaker also of Chuck & Buck, The Good Girl and Youth in Revolt, who directed Cedar Rapids. He was a fun guy to talk with, and we talked about how they shot the film and made it so entertaining yet charming. Watch the interview below! "This is kind of the Wizard of Oz of insurance."

Amber Heard Top Choice for 'Red Sonja' with Director Simon West?
Comic-Con 2008 brought some slick posters featuring Rose McGowan as female barbarian Red Sonja, but of course, since then this project hasn't made much progress and it seems producer Robert Rodriguez and McGowan (the filmmaker's wife) have since fallen away from the project. However, Empire has news of the project gaining steam again as producer Avi Lerner revealed Simon West (Con-Air) is attached to direct and Amber Heard (Drive Angry 3D) is the top contender to play the titular sword-wielding, bikini-clad barbarian. So what's been the hold-up? Lerner says, "We didn't want to start it until we'd finished Conan."

Finally An Official Trailer for Russell Brand's New 'Arthur' Remake
Bitterman, watch this trailer! Due in theaters in less than two months, Warner Bros has finally unveiled a trailer on Yahoo for Arthur, the remake of the 1981 comedy classic, this time starring Russell Brand as the wealthy, drunken playboy. This has all sorts of wacky stuff in it, as he is a billionaire, so why not throw in everything they can? In addition to Brand, Arthur stars: Helen Mirren, Jennifer Garner, Greta Gerwig, Nick Nolte and Luis Guzmán. Yea, we've seen a lot of Brand on the big screen already, but this is supposed to be his great new comedy. I don't know if all these rich scenes will work, but it looks okay. Watch below!

Jason Statham Circling Adaptaton of Andy McNab's Novel 'Firewall'
No, this project has nothing to do with the financial face-off between Paul Bettany and Harrison Ford, but rather it's an adaptation of Firewall, the third book in Andy McNab's 13-book series following Special Air Service (SAS) soldier Nick Stone. Eric Bana had apparently been interested in the role, but Deadline now reports Jason Statham (The Transporter, The Mechanic) is now in the midst of circling the action thriller which is now going by the title Echelon. The story follows Nick Stone as he finds himself caught between the Russian Mafia and western secret agents trying to get their hands on the Echelon computer program.

Watch: Mild Promo Trailer for Wacky Martial Arts Indie 'Bunraku'
Ohhh boy, this is going to be good. If you didn't hear, there's a film that played at the Toronto Film Fest and at Fantastic Fest that was pretty much either hated (or walked out of) by many, or loved by few. It's another extremely stylistic martial arts spaghetti western, but the best part is that it's over 2 hours long and features Josh Hartnett as "The Drifter" as well as Woody Harrelson as his confidant, The Bartender. We saw it, never reviewed it, but our friends at Quiet Earth just found a promo trailer for the flick and it is damn good. Bunraku is best enjoyed if you are tripping acid, so be prepared for some wacky, weird shit in this. Enjoy!

Snyder spoke with SFX Magazine (via ComingSoon) recently and actually opened up just a bit about the kind of Superman we'll see in Superman: Man of Steel come 2012. "My feeling about Superman is that I've been a fan of the character for a long time. But the question for me was always, 'What can you do with Superman in a modern world?'" Then Chris Nolan and David Goyer finally came up with the perfect answer.
