Director David Frankel & Meryl Streep Head to 'Great Hope Springs'

Meryl Streep and David Frankel

After making a rather enjoyable romantic comedy in the form of The Devil Wears Prada, director David Frankel and star Meryl Streep are set to collaborate again. Deadline reports the duo will work together on Great Hope Springs, a comedy from TV writer Vanessa Taylor that focuses on a couple who puts their future in the hands of a marriage counselor for one weekend when their relationship hits some serious bumps after 30 years together. We first heard about Streep's involvement with the project last June, and though Jeff Bridges was rumored to play her husband in the film, the actor is not actually attached to star.

Blake Lively to Lead 'Sex and the City' Prequel 'The Carrie Diaries'?

Blake Lively

There's no denying that plenty of people love Sex and the City. However, with the most recent film sequel, even the most die hard fans could be heard expressing their disappointment (and the lackluster box office numbers clearly mirrors their feelings). However, HBO Films is apparently still keen on keeping the legacy of Carrie Bradshaw alive in the form of a feature film prequel based on author Candace Bushnell's recent book, The Carrie Diaries which focuses on the series' character's teenage years in the early 80's. In addition, Blake Lively ("Gossip Girl") may be stepping into Bradshaw's high heels for the new project.

Famke Janssen Joining the Cast of 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters'

Famke Janssen

Our titular characters have already been cast with Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton playing Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, now another actress is apparently joining Paramount's dark take on the classic fairytale siblings. The Playlist has learned Famke Janssen (X-Men, Taken) has landed an unknown role in a story that finds Hansel & Gretel about 15 years after surviving the encounter with a witch in the infamous gingerbread house. The two siblings are now full-time killers whose primary targets are witches like the one who terrorized them at a young age. This is probably the fairytale adaptation I'm most excited to see made.

First Look: Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher from 'The Iron Lady'

Thatcher / Streep

Back in 2009 she transformed herself into the gifted and charming cook Julia Child for the split story of Julie & Julia. Now the amazing Meryl Streep is back as another iconic woman in The Iron Lady, the story of Margaret Thatcher who rose to become the first woman to lead a major Western democracy. She won three successive General Elections and served as British Prime Minister for more than eleven years, a record unmatched in the 20th century. Fox has sent us the first look at Streep in full wardrobe and make-up, and it's clear that this will be yet another role she'll disappears into like a chameleon. See the photo below!

Must Watch: First Fantastic UK Trailer for Fest Favorite 'Submarine'

Submarine Trailer

My name is Oliver Tate. We finally have our first wonderful look at an official trailer for Richard Ayoade's Submarine, the charming Wes Anderson+Noah Baumbach-esque British indie that we totally loved at the Toronto Film Festival. Submarine stars Craig Roberts as 15-year-old Oliver Tate, a quirky young boy who takes you on a self-narrated whimsical adventure through a fascinating time in his adolescence. We've been hyping this up quite a bit, so I hope you enjoy. The trailer is just a UK trailer from Facebook, as a US release date hasn't been set. Give it a shot and let us know what you think. They're really selling this, but it's good!

Check This Out: Great 'Animated History of the Oscars' Infographic

The Animated History of the Oscars

We forget to mention that last week, on February 3rd to be specific, it was Pixar's 25th Anniversary, believe it or not (see Upcoming Pixar). We all know that Pixar's Toy Story 3 is nominated for a Best Picture this year, but did you know that's the third time in Oscar history that an animated film has been nominated for Best Picture? The others were Beauty and the Beast in '92 and Up last year. Border Stylo has whipped up an awesome web graphic called The Animated History of the Oscars: An Infographic that was originally found by our friends at SlashFilm. I thought this was too nifty/informative to pass up, so check it out below!

Watch: Powerful New Trailer for Aussie Film 'Oranges and Sunshine'

Oranges and Sunshine Trailer

Another powerful semi-political story about fighting for what's right. Our friends at RopeofSilicon recently found an official UK trailer at The Guardian for a film by director Ken Loach's son Jim titled Oranges and Sunshine, that's set mostly in Australia. From Variety's review, it's a "deeply moving study of emotionally scarred adults who were illegally deported as children to Australia from Britain in the 1940s and '50s." The cast includes: Emily Watson as the British social worker who brought that shameful secret to the world's attention in the late '80s, as well as Hugo Weaving, David Wenham and Tara Morice. Watch it below.

Review: James Cameron's 'Sanctum' is Flawed, But Still an Adventure

Sanctum Review

Claustrophobia is not an easy sensation to convey on film. Certain directors in the past, the Hitchcocks and the Carpenters of the industry, have been able to pull it off almost effortlessly. More recently, Rodrigo Cortes did an amazing job pulling off the grasping for air one goes through when they find themselves in a closed in area with Buried. So it shouldn't be held too much against director Alister Grierson that his job of transferring Claustrophobia is a little hit and a little miss with Sanctum. After all, this is a Hollywood film with backing from James Cameron, a man not exactly known for the nuance of his execution. There's
