Wolfgang Petersen Set to Helm Adaptation of 'Old Man's War' Novel

Old Man's War / Wolfgang Petersen

Though he hasn't directed a film since 2006's Poseidon (a film disastrous in both plot and execution), director Wolfgang Petersen has still been linked to projects like Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots as recently as last summer.  Now the filmmaker has another one in his future as Deadline reports Paramount Pictures has bought the screen rights to John Scalzi's sci-fi novel Old Man's War, the first in a four book series. All of the books were included in the deal with Petersen attached to direct from a script by David Self (Road to Perdition). Though unlike most big sci-fi projects, this one features a 75-year old man who enlists in the Colonial Defense Force.

First Look: Terrence Malick's Next Film Starring Affleck & McAdams

Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams

Last December we got a look at the first beautiful trailer for the anticipated film Tree of Life from Terrence Malick, and while the film doesn't hit theaters until May 27th, apparently the reclusive filmmaker already has his next project in the can. While reports have said the film may or may not be called The Burial, that's about the only solid details that have been revealed about his next project. Well, that and the cast includes Ben Affleck & Rachel McAdams, who are featured in the first still from the film revealed today by THR. The cinematic shot features the two leads sharing a romantic moment near a wheatfield. It's quite beautiful.

Watch: Second Full Official Trailer for Duncan Jones' 'Source Code'

Source Code Trailer

"What is my mission?" To watch this trailer. Summit has debuted a second, shorter trailer for Moon director Duncan Jones' new film Source Code, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga and Jeffrey Wright. The first trailer launched back in November and showed quite a bit of the movie, this new one comes from Moviefone and still explains quite a bit, but in a more concise package, only 60 seconds long. I still think this looks like it might be a great movie with some fascinating sci-fi time-travel elements, and a crazy story involving Gyllenhaal running through trains and time. Watch and tell us what you think?

While most of us are hoping we don't have to endure a sequel to Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, that doesn't mean director Christopher Columbus won't be bringing another film to the big screen. Deadline reports the filmmaker who launched the Harry Potter franchise is now set to direct a remake of the 2010 Korean film Hello Ghost. The story follows a young man who fails to kill himself, and then finds himself haunted by four ghosts. Uma Thurman and Jessica Biel 'Playing the Field' with Gerard Butler

Uma Thurman / Jessica Biel

Yesterday we found out about a new project from director Gabriele Muccino (The Pursuit of Happyness) in the form of Adaline, a supernatural sort of romance. But today we have some casting additions to one of his more immediate projects. Variety reports Uma Thurman (Kill Bill) and Jessica Biel (Valentine's Day) have joined the cast of Playing the Field. The story follows a former pro soccer player (Gerard Butler) who finds himself dodging romantic advances from soccer moms after he agrees to coach his son's youth team in an attempt to bond with the boy. Leave it to someone like Butler to score the hot soccer moms and be a good father.

Watch: First Filthy Red Band Trailer for Jake Kasdan's 'Bad Teacher'

Bad Teacher Trailer

Columbia has debuted a very R-rated red band trailer via MySpace for their summer comedy Bad Teacher, about the hot "foul-mouthed, junior high teacher" who gets into some raunchy relationship mayhem at her high school. It stars the likes of Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake, Jason Segel, Lucy Punch, Phyllis Smith and John Michael Higgins. Yea this has some foul language, but it's fun, it's actually a well-cut trailer. The problem is, I still hate Cameron Diaz, and she just looks like she's trying to play someone fifteen years younger and not at all who she is, which annoys the heck out of me. Anyway, watch it below, and have fun.

Check These Out: Two Different 'Arthur' Posters For Your Approval

Arthur Poster

Meet the world's only lovable billionaire. If there's one thing I've learned looking at these two posters - it's that Russell Brand really likes sitting with his legs up in chairs. For a while I was wondering when they'd start promoting Brand's Arthur remake, since it hits theaters in early April, but now that we have a trailer out, the marketing has begun. Two official posters were recently released, the first one a few weeks ago (via IMPAwards) and another one yesterday over on JoBlo. Since there's not much else to talk about this week, I submit for your opinion and approval the two official posters for Arthur. Watch out for that bold red font!

Steve Carell Producing and Starring in Adaptation of 'Dogs of Babel'

Steve Carell / Dogs of Babel

Last week we learned that Meryl Streep would get some marriage counseling from Steve Carell as "The Office" actor signed to star in Great Hope Springs. Now the actor is continuing his film scheduling frenzy to follow his last season on NBC's comedy series by taking on yet another project. THR reports Carell will star in and produce an adaptation of Dogs of Babel, the Carolyn Parkhurst novel of the same name. David Heyman (producer of the Harry Potter franchise) is also behind the story of a linguistics professor (Carell) who discovers his wife dead in the backyard. Though the police rule the woman's death an accident, the professor is not convinced.

Mitch Hurwitz

While fans are waiting for an "Arrested Development" film to manifest itself, series creator Mitch Hurwitz will likely make his feature directorial debut with a different comedy. The Wrap reports Hurwitz is working with Imagine Entertainment to develop The Boss of It All, a remake of the Norwegian comedy Direktoren For Det Hele. Directed by Lars von Trier, the original story follows the owner of a small IT company who pretends there's another boss above him in order to more easily break bad news to his employees. However, the plan runs into problems when he sells the company and the new owner wants to meet the made-up boss.
