Louis Leterrier Set to Direct Secret Sci-Fi Tentpole 'G' for Universal
After bring the sword and sandals remake Clash of the Titans to the big screen, it looks like director Louis Leterrier is ready to head in the opposite direction for some sci-fi. Heat Vision reports the director has signed on to direct and produce a secretive sci-fi tentpole project simply titled G. Universal is behind the project whose plot is under wraps, but apparently the film is said to be a disaster film with hints of Day After Tomorrow and Taken. The project is still very much in the early stages of development as the project has been built out of an idea from producer Guymond Casady and is currently being sent out to writers.

Zack Snyder's 'Sucker Punch' Gets a Final Badass Music Video/Trailer
Kick ass! One of the few movies I still can't wait to see this spring is Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch, which we've been anxiously waiting to see since visiting the set last year. Although we've seen multiple trailers, TV spots and countless posters for this female-led fantasy-action-extravaganza, Warner Bros has debuted one more official trailer via Yahoo. This one is actually much more like a music video or sizzle reel, basically a bunch of footage cut to music. It isn't anything we haven't seen before in the other trailers, but it is a kick ass reminder that this movie is coming up in a few weeks. I'll be there opening night! What about you guys?

Sony and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes Making 'Zombies vs. Robots'
Apparently Hollywood just wants to take all the most popular elements of genre films, throw them into a hat and spit out some semblance of a story that pits them against each other. That seems to be the driving force behind Sony Pictures picking up the Chris Ryall's comic book Zombies vs. Robots for a co-production with Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production banner. Deadline says writer J.T. Petty used the comic as the basis for a spec script which he as titled Inherit the Earth. The story follows a young girl who is the last survivor on Earth, protected by a group of robots as a pack of zombies that are intelligent and evolved aim to kill her.

Hans Zimmer and Rodrigo y Gabriela Will Score 'On Stranger Tides'
With musicians like Daft Punk scoring Tron Legacy and Chemical Brothers composing music for Hanna, today's most talented names in music are moving into the realm of motion picture scores. Now we can add another to the list as Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films have just revealed that composer Hans Zimmer (Inception, The Dark Knight) will work with Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela to compose the score for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth installment in the blockbuster franchise. As a huge fan of this amazing duo, this is some of the best news I've heard in a long time.

Gabriele Muccino in Talks to Direct Supernatural Romance 'Adaline'
Last year there was news in a Casting Tidbits that Katherine Heigl was going to lead a whimsical romance in the form of The Age of Adaline. At the time Andy Tennant (Hitch) was slated to helm the feature, but now someone else is stepping into the director's chair. Variety reports Gabrielle Muccino, who last worked with Will Smith on The Pursuit of Happyness and Seven Pounds, is now in talks to direct the film which is now simply titled Adaline. The story follows a young woman, born at the turn of 20th century, who is rendered ageless after an accident. After years of a solitary life, she meets a man who might be worth losing her immortality.

Must Watch: First Trailer for Aaron Burns' Indie Comedy 'blacktino'
"Whoooaaa nerd alert!" Perhaps the new Napoleon Dynamite, or perhaps something else entirely, the first official trailer for the indie comedy blacktino (yes it's titled lowercase) from Texan filmmaker Aaron Burns recently debuted on Vimeo (via /Film). You may remember hearing about this before, as it was part of some odd viral campaign with Michelle Rodriguez at Fantastic Fest last year, but now we know what it is. Austin Marshall stars as an "overweight half-black, half-hispanic nerd" named Stefan who's struggling to fit in at his high school. This looks like it has a lot of charm and whit, I'm very much looking forward to it. Enjoy!

Gael Garcia Bernal & Benicio del Toro Now Up for 'Pancho Villa' Film
At the end of 2009, we heard that Johnny Depp might be re-teaming with his Arizona Dream director Emir Kusturica for the long-titled film Seven Friends of Pancho Villa and the Woman With Six Fingers. an adaptation of James Carlos Blake's novel The Friends of Pancho Villa. Watch: Franco & Roberts in MEAN's Video for 'Go Outside' by Cults
The masterminds behind MEAN Supervideo, who brought us that rad Anna Kendrick-LCD Soundsystem collab last year, are back again with another custom music video. This one is for Cults' song "Go Outside" and stars Emma Roberts and Dave Franco. Not the older Franco? No, the same brother we saw in that Franco Family Christmas Greeting. Guess he can act, too! Here is the pitch: In the video, a man (Franco) obsessed with classic French films lives out his greatest cinematic fantasy when he embarks on a night of passion and thrills with the actress (Roberts) of his dreams. Yea, but not that far. Check it out below!

D.J. Caruso Signed to Direct Adaptation of Vertigo's Comic 'Preacher'
We haven't heard anything about the adaptation of Vertigo's comic book Preacher since 2009. At the time Sam Mendes was still lined up to direct the project, but he's since fallen away from the adaptation and now has the next James Bond installment lined up. But lately rumors have been circling that another director is looking to take over the project, and while we've held off on reporting them until something official came up, the time is now for a substantial update. Updating on his Twitter account (via TFS), director D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye, I Am Number Four) confirmed that he just closed his deal to direct the comic book adaptation.

Rutger Hauer Cast as Van Helsing in Dario Argento's 'Dracula 3D'
We're catching up on some stories since it's fairly slow this week. First up, both Twitch and ComingSoon.it are reporting that badass Dutch actor Rutger Hauer is going to play Van Helsing, the legendary vampire hunter, in Italian director Dario Argento's Dracula 3D. The project was first announced last summer as a "faithful translation of the Bram Stoker novel" the Italian horror master would shoot in 3D. I don't know about everyone else, but my interest in this just quadrupled knowing Hauer's going to be huntin' vamps in an Argento flick. He kicked ass as the Hobo With a Shotgun and I'm sure he'll be great to see in this, too.

Christopher McQuarrie to Adapt 'Star Blazers' TV Show for New Film
He's turned in great work for director Bryan Singer in the form of screenplays for The Usual Suspects and Valkyrie, but he also had a hand in the mess that was The Tourist. With the anticipated Wolverine sequel and Jack the Giant Killer already on their way into production, writer Christopher McQuarrie is ready for his next project. Deadline reports the writer will pen the script for an adaptation of the 1970's animated sci-fi series Star Blazers for David Ellison's Skydance Productions. The series is actually an adaptation of the Japanese anime series Space Battleship Yamato which was turned into its own live-action film recently.
