Kiefer Sutherland Says '24' Movie Will Likely Hit Big Screens in 2012
Though the use of a real-time story on the hit Fox series has been warmly received, the slow real-time development of a feature film adaptation of 24 has been a thorn in the side of many fans. Though Billy Ray was tapped in February of 2010 to finally write the feature film script for the adaptation, Fox apparently wasn't a big fan and development seemed to be at a standstill. However, series star Kiefer Sutherland (who plays bad-ass counter-terrorist agent Jack Bauer) appeared on "The View" (via EW) who said that the film will see release in 2012. Though he might just be optimistic, as series producer and star, he would know better than us.

Jodie Foster's Next Directing Gig Could Possibly Be a Sci-Fi Thriller?
Though she hadn't directed a film since the 1995 Christmas comedy Home for the Holidays, the buzz from South by Southwest has Jodie Foster and her most recent directorial endeavor, the anticipated comedic drama The Beaver, getting plenty of praise (read Jeremy's review right here). She previously tackled drama with Little Man Tate and comedy with the aforementioned Christmas comedy, and combined the two rather well with a supposedly fantastic, comeback worthy performance from Mel Gibson. Now it sounds like Foster might next be in the director's chair for a sci-fi thriller that is in the early stages of development.

Team Behind Sundance's 'Like Crazy' Now Adapting 'Through to You'
Though I was unable to catch the hard-hitting romance Like Crazy (a film that has been called Blue Valentine for a younger crowd), the Sundance selected feature did get picked up by Paramount, so we'll all get a chance to see it eventually. Now the team behind that film has set up their next project at Paramount as well as 24 Frames reports director Drake Doremus (above) will be at the helm of an adaptation of Emily Hainsworth's novel Through to You which will be written by Ben York Jones and produced by Jonathan Schwartz. Sticking within youth territory, the story is easily described as a teen-centric sci-fi romance.

An Awesome Poster for Buzzed About SXSW Film 'Attack the Block'
Though the sci-fi comedy Paul just hit theaters featuring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, another comedy with an alien focus featuring one-half of the British duo has been gaining some buzz since it's premiere at the South by Southwest film festival last week (see all of our coverage here). Director Joe Cornish's Attack the Block featuring Nick Frost in the story of a group of British hoodies fighting off an alien invasion on their block has had plenty of praise across the board. Jeremy had some good things to say about it (see the trailer here), and now SlashFilm has revealed a great quad poster for the film which you can see below.

Director Doug Liman to Helm Period Drama About Two-Gun Cohen
Since that other adaptation of The Three Musketeers fell to the wayside with Paul W. S. Anderon's version getting off the ground first, director Doug Liman has had a couple different projects with his name involved. There's an adaptation of The Last of the Tribe and there may still be active development on his gestating untitled moon project. Now the filmmaker seems to have his next project locked as THR reports Liman is set to develop a period drama about Morris Abraham "Two-Gun" Cohen, the famous British bodyguard of revolutionary and political leader Sun Yat-sen, who led the overthrowing of China's last imperial dynasty.

Julianne Moore Joins 'Seventh Son' But Pettyfer and Lawrence Pass
Though we've heard that Jeff Bridges has been confirmed to star in The Seventh Son, an adaptation of The Last Apprentice (or The Wardstone Chronicles) book series, there hasn't been any word on whether pursued young talents Jennifer Lawrence and Alex Pettyfer would end up joining. Now Bloody Disgusting has word that the two talents have passed on the project, but they've also learned of a new cast member. Apparently Julianne Moore has landed the role of Mother Markin, the most sinister of witches who uses blood magic. If you haven't been paying attention we've got plenty more details below.

Indie Actress Brit Marling Joining 'Arbitrage' and 'Breaking the Girl'
After making quite an impression on myself and some other Sundance attendees, actress and writer Brit Marling is on the verge of a huge career boost. At the aforementioned film festival in January, Marling charmed plenty of audiences with her work in front of and behind the camera as a writer and actress in both Another Earth (which has already been picked up for distribution) and Sound of My Voice (a film that I didn't review, but loved immensely). Now the actress has revealed to she has a pretty big role coming up in Nicholas Jarecki's next film Arbitrage, and she's attached to a project called Breaking the Girl as well.

Second Epic Trailer for 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'
"It is not the destination so much as the journey." Disney has debuted an extremely exciting (you'll see what I mean when you watch it) new trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, director Rob Marshall's latest installment in the epic series starring Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow. We've already seen a teaser that was basically a trailer and an awesome SuperBowl spot, but this my friends, ohhhh this is quite a wonderful trailer to behold. I don't know how anyone could't be excited to see this after that! No Orlando Bloom, but Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane and Gemma Ward instead and damn does it look quite fun.

Jeremy's SXSW Video Interview: 'Source Code' Actress Vera Farmiga
It's difficult enough for an actor to work off of another highly animated actor. It is another thing entirely to have to act the majority of a film off of a camera alone. That is where actress Vera Farmiga (The Departed, Up in the Air) found herself in Duncan Jones' Source Code. She plays Goodwin - Jake Gyllenhaal's guide and connection to the "outside" as he attempts to uncover first-hand who bombed a train. I had the honor of sitting down with Farmiga at SXSW to discuss working with Duncan, her character, not wanting to look into the camera, and the straight-man approach she took working against Jeffrey Wright's crazy eccentricities.

SXSW Review: 'Hobo With a Shotgun' is a Gore-Covered Love Letter
There's a subset of fans who will definitely have the time of their life watching Jason Eisener's Hobo With a Shotgun. They're the people who watched the violent films of the ‘80s, whose parents allowed them to stay up late and watch the likes of Dolph Lundgren and Rutger Hauer blasting enemies with vicious, juicy delight. Eisener's film, based on his trailer originally a part of Tarantino/Rodriguez's Grindhouse project, bottles that sensibility, shakes it up, and splatters it all over the screen. What's more, he's brought Hauer himself along for the gory ride, and the resulting cinematic feat is a bloody good time. Quite literally so.

Two Official Photos Revealed of Peter Jackson on 'The Hobbit' Set!
There and Back Again... Peter Jackson's Tale! Oh is it great to see Jackson back in Middle Earth again. With filming on the epic two-part adaptation of The Hobbit underway down in New Zealand, two new photos of Jackson himself on The Hobbit set, specifically inside of Bilbo's house in Hobbiton, have been revealed on his Facebook (via SlashFilm). Combined with that "first photo" of the cast not in costume, these are the only photos we've seen and while they are just "behind-the-scenes", they're still so great to see! Warner Bros has also announced the start of production and an official blog has also launched. Check out the photos below!
