Zack Snyder Says 'Man of Steel' Disregards Other Superman Movies

Superman / Zack Snyder

Perhaps the biggest problem with Superman Returns was that it was simultaneously a sequel to the first couple Superman films, but its plot was almost indiscernible from the first film with Lex Luthor attempting another real estate scheme to ridiculous proportions. Well, director Zack Snyder, the man behind the Warner Bros. new take on the Big Blue Boy Scout says the franchise reboot, which is simply titled Man of Steel will exist on its own without regard for any of the previous Superman films. With Batman Begins producer Christopher Nolan on board, this approach is not really surprising, and completely welcome.

Watch: Tom Hanks Acts, Writes & Directs 'Larry Crowne' First Trailer

Larry Crowne Trailer

"You are way cooler than you appear." That's the first thought that comes to mind when I see Tom Hanks! Universal has debuted the first trailer on Yahoo for Larry Crowne, the new dramedy written by, directed by, producer by and stars the one-and-only Tom Hanks. I hate to make the comparison, but it's kind of like Billy Madison for the "older" crowd (e.g. your parents). What I mean is that basically, it's a comedy about an older guy who goes back to school, falls in love with his teacher and reinvents himself. That even sounds the same, doesn't it? Anyway, because Hanks is such a charmer, this does look great, I'm looking forward to it!

Otherwise his voice has also been heard in The Simpsons Movie and he'll also appear in Drive with Ryan Gosling.

Watch: Awesome New 'Sucker Punch' Animated Short 'The Trenches'

The Trenches Animated Short

Thought you wouldn't see anything else from Sucker Punch in these last few weeks, didn't you? Although we've seen more than enough trailers and TV spots to last a lifetime for Zack Snyder's epicly stylized action flick, hitting theaters in just a few weeks, this is still worth watching. Apple has debuted an animated short film by Ben Hibon, the same animator behind that amazing animated sequence from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I. The short is called The Trenches and is a short story told about the WWI zombie soldier fairytale that Baby Doll (Emily Browning) and her girls end up in in the movie. Check this out below!

MGM's 'Red Dawn' Remake Will Have North Korea as Revised Villain

Red Dawn

MGM stirring up more trouble? The LA Times reports very candidly on MGM's recent decision to revise the villain in their already-completed remake of the 1980's classic Red Dawn, directed by Dan Bradley. They report that the original villain of the Chinese invading America, already updated from Russia/U.S.S.R. in the 1984 film with Patrick Swayze, will be revised to North Korea, because of concern for the Chinese box office. Go figure, it's all about business. "The filmmakers now are digitally erasing Chinese flags and military symbols from Red Dawn, substituting dialogue and altering the film." Let's hope it doesn't cause a backlash.

Shia LaBeouf Attached to Lead Adaptation of Joe Hill's 'Horns' Novel

Horns / Shia LaBeouf

Way back in October of 2009 we heard that Mandalay Pictures had picked up Horns, a novel from Joe Hill (son of Stephen King), for a big screen adaptation. Now the project finally has some legs as Variety reports Shia LaBeouf (Transformers) is not only attached to star in the film, but will also be heavily involved in the project's development. "In Treatment" writer Keith Bunin will adapt the story which follows a 26-year-old man who wakes up one morning from a blackout hangover and finds horns sprouting out of his head. As the horns grow bigger by the day, the reason why seems to lie in the unsolved murder of his girlfriend. How twisted!

Updated: Liam Neeson Will NOT Leave Behind the 'Taken' Sequel

Liam Neeson

After the surprising box office success of Taken in 2009, a sequel seemed pretty much inevitable and Robert Mark Kamen was brought on to script the follow-up in March of 2009. Flash forward to the present and now it seems like there may be trouble for the action sequel as Deadline says Liam Neeson is in danger of being replaced on the production. Why? Well, Neeson wants to take some time off, but producer Luc Besson is ready to have Transporter 3 helmer Oliver Megaton direct the film this year. Apparently things have gone so sour that Besson has even assembled a series of potential replacements for the film. Find out who below!

SXSW Review: Joe Cornish's 'Attack the Block' is Exciting, Fun, Deep

Joe Cornish's Attack the Block

Believe. Joe Cornish's feature debut as writer and director, the sci-fi flick Attack the Block, is a riot, an alien creatures vs South London gang feature film that revs up with excitement, grounds with realistic characters, eases the tone with a bit of well-placed comedy, and still never loses sight of its subtext. With a highly inventive yet understandable screenplay, the kind that makes you think "I can't believe they've never done this before", backing it along the way, the film plays to both the '50s-style monster movies and inner city dramas alike. But it's also a whole lot of fun, quite possibly the most fun this year's SXSW has to offer.

SXSW: Harsh Nukes of Love and Loss Craft the Sensational 'Bellfower'

Bellfower Review

The phrase "apocalypted my mind" is one that comes to your senses while watching, studying, and mulling over Bellflower, the first film written and directed by Evan Glodell. There's not much sense to be made out of the phrase. The red dotted line underneath the word "apocalypted" as it is being written indicates it's not even an acceptable word. That doesn't mean it's not apropos for this film that blasts its way into your memory banks, slaps you silly, and doesn't even both to clean up afterwards. To put it frankly, Bellflower is a monster of a success. A film about friendship, love, loss, and the power we place on the moments that

'Real Steel' Viral Site Updated with Robot Boxing League Backstory

Real Steel Robot Boxing

I consider it our mission to always keep everyone updated on virals, so here we go. Just yesterday we wrote about a new viral site for Shawn Levy's Real Steel, the upcoming action movie starring Hugh Jackman as the trainer of a giant robot boxing unit. The site is located at WRB.com and is the HQ of the World Robot Boxing League, the not-so-cheesy robot version of the WWE in this. After entering in codes and unlocking the site, its been updated with a series of 5 Rounds, each of which provides copious amounts of backstory to give us a history of how robot boxing first started way back in 2014. There's some very cool stuff to see here!

'American Reunion' Brings Back Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy and More

American Pie

Back in February of 2010 we learned that Universal Pictures, desperate for a hit, was looking to bake another batch of the raunchy, sex-filled American Pie comedy series. Then in April of 2010 we heard that Harold & Kumar franchise writers and directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg would bring their comedic sensibilities to the series. Now The Wrap has word that the film has finally been dubbed American Reunion and franchise stars Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy, and Seann William Scott have all signed on to reprise their roles for the sequel. And even more of the original cast is negotiating to return.
