Andrew Currie Directing Eric McCormack in WWE Thriller 'Barricade
Okay, okay, yes I know, this is a WWE Studios production and uh, no one likes those movies (do they?). But there's a reason why I'm writing about this - directing Barricade, the new supernatural thriller (yea) from WWE is Andrew Currie, the Canadian filmmaker behind that great zombie indie Fido that we featured on the site years ago. He's been off-and-on projects for a while since Fido was released in '07, so it's good to see him finally directing something. Barricade will shoot in and around Vancouver starting this month with TV actor Eric McCormack ("Lonesome Dove", "Will & Grace", "Trust Me" - seen above) starring. More below.

Neil Gaiman & James Cameron Join Forces for 'Journey to the West'
Though the project is still in the early stages of development, over in Beijing plans were just announced for an epic $300 million trilogy adaptation of the ancient Chinese folk tale Journey to the West, a story that is considered one of the Four Great Classical Novels in Chinese literature. Variety reports producer Zhang Jizhong has snagged Coraline and Stardust author Neil Gaiman to script the adaptation. In addition to that, James Cameron will advise on the script as well as several sects of technology, including shooting in 3D. If that's not enough, they have their eyes on Guillermo del Toro to direct at least one of the films.

First Green Band Trailer for Cameron Diaz's Comedy 'Bad Teacher'
At this school, one teacher doesn't give an F. I really hate that tagline. Columbia has released the first green band trailer on Yahoo for Jake Kasdan's summer comedy Bad Teacher starring Cameron Diaz as a "bad teacher" as well as Justin Timberlake, Jason Segel and Lucy Punch. This is green band because it's the "MPAA approved" version of the red band trailer we saw a few weeks back, which means this trailer for an R-rated comedy is missing all of the raunchy, filthy humor that actually makes it look good. That said, if you still want to see more J.T. and watch Jason Segel give the best performance out of everyone, then have at it.

Check This Out: Four New 'Kung Fu Panda 2' Characters Revealed
We've already seen an epic new banner, a literally in your face teaser, a pretty cool Super Bowl ad and the official theatrical trailer for Kung Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom of Doom. Now we have a look at four of the new characters in the sequel as DreamWorks Animation has just released a few new banners on the film's official Facebook page (via SlashFilm). The animation style in Kung Fu Panda, especially with all the characters, was really quite unique, and these new characters are no different. You can check out the official images of each character along with a brief introduction below. I honestly can't wait to see them in action!

'Elite Squad' Star Wagner Moura Cast as the Villain in Sci-Fi 'Elysium'
Sounds like the Brazilian film Elite Squad is really helping launch some careers in Hollywood lately. We just recently found out director Jose Padilha was in talks to helm MGM's remake of Robocop, and now another talent from that film has just landed a big gig. Heat Vision and Latino Review both report that Wagner Moura, one of the actor's who has received plenty of praise for his part in the foreign action drama will play the villain in Elysium, the upcoming sci-fil flick from Neill Blomkamp (District 9) Though little is known about the plot, it's apparently set far in the future with social classes playing a prominent role in the story.

Andy Samberg, Donald Glover, Bill Hader & More Want a 'Hand Job'
In case you didn't know, there's a great script called The Hand Job that showed up on the 2009 Black List that has Aubrey Plaza (Funny People, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) attached to star. Though the film doesn't yet have a production company or studio attached, the script had a great reception when a read through was conducted at the Austin Film Festival with Plaza, Bill Hader, Jessica Alba, Alexa Vega and Colin Hanks. Well, now Hader (who recently revealed a couple new projects) told Collider that Andy Samberg, Donald Glover, Connie Britton, Alia Shawkat, Mae Whitman and Johnny Simmons are attached to star.

Video Interview: 'Battle: Los Angeles' Director Jonathan Liebesman
After years of promising a kick ass action flick, its time to finally unleash Battle: Los Angeles, the latest movie from South African director Jonathan Liebesman, who started in horror but has transitioned into pure action. I've known Jonathan since meeting him at Sundance years ago to talk about his film The Killing Room and have kept in touch since, following along as he got attached to and finally shot Battle: LA (down in Baton Rouge, LA). He's already in the UK preparing Clash of the Titans 2, but I caught up with Jonathan while he was in LA recently to talk about (spoiler free!) Battle: LA and making a badass sci-fi action movie.

Confirmed: Guillermo del Toro Directing 'Pacific Rim' Next for 2013!
Although at first it was just a possibility, Guillermo himself has since confirmed and Legendary Pictures has officially announced (via press release on Deadline) that the sci-fi monster action project Pacific Rim will be the next movie directed by Guillermo del Toro. This comes after del Toro revealed that his passion project At the Mountains of Madness was effectively killed by Universal because they wouldn't take a risk on the R-rating. Anyway, Legendary is aiming for summer 2013 release for Pacific Rim, with pre-production underway and shooting starting in September. Looks like this project won't have any delays getting greenlit!

Sylvester Stallone Will Not Write or Direct 'The Expendables' Sequel
Though I found myself underwhelmed by the ensemble action romp that was The Expendables, the prospect of Arnold Schwarzenegger's return to acting and hopefully a bigger role in the sequel is somewhat enticing. And this time around, perhaps what didn't work on the page or screen will can be tweaked a bit. The biggest reason this might happen is 24 Frames has learned that Sylvester Stallone will not write or direct the sequel. Apparently Stallone (who wrote and directed the first film in addition to starring in it) is currently in the process of meeting with directors to tackle the sequel and a script is already done.
