Ryan Gosling Saddling Up to Join Johnny Depp in 'The Lone Ranger'
Last November we got official word from Disney that Pirates of the Caribbean franchise director Gore Verbinski would be at the helm of a big screen adaptation of The Lone Ranger featuring Johnny Depp as the titular hero's sidekick Tonto. Since then we've been wondering who would saddle up to play the western protagonist, and now The Wrap reports Ryan Gosling (Blue Valentine, The Notebook) is currently in talks to take the role. It's yet another move for Gosling to become more of a mainstream star with his taking roles in films like Nicholas Winding Refn's Drive, and the remake of Logan's Run from Refn coming up, too.

Don't Look: Taylor Lautner Rips Off Bourne on the 'Abduction' Poster
What if your entire life was a lie?! I wasn't even going to post this, but with Coachella it's dead this weekend and more than anything, I need to make fun of it. JustJared debuted the first official poster for Abduction, the Taylor Lautner action movie that we just saw the first trailer for a few days ago. I referenced Jason Bourne in that headline, but they've really taken the marketing almost too far with that. This poster seems suspiciously a rip off of inspired by some Bourne-like designs of past, referenced beneath the poster, plus Star Trek, too! Besides, who really wants to look at a humongous B&W photo of Taylor Lautner? Oh... right.

First Look: 'Shark Night 3D' Delivers Terror Underwater Yet Again
If the cheesy antics of Snakes on a Plane wasn't enough of an over-the-top story of man vs. nature, then you've probably been giddy with anticipation for director David R. Ellis' return to the pseudo creature feature with Shark Night 3D. The cheesy story features mostly a cast of relatively unknown actors (with the exception of Avatar star Joel David Moore) in the cheesy story of seven people who spend a weekend at a lake house in Louisiana's Gulf area where their vacation quickly becomes a nightmare of hellish shark attacks. Now we have our first look at the underwater horror flick, and yes, there's a hungry shark involved.

Nestor Carbonell Back as Gotham Mayor for 'The Dark Knight Rises'
Joining Christian Bale as our Caped Crusader, as well as Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman, another cast member from The Dark Knight will return for Christopher Nolan's anticipated sequel The Dark Knight Rises. Variety reports Nestor Carbonell ("Lost") will reprise his role as the Mayor of Gotham City. The character didn't have a huge role in the previous sequel, but shared a couple pivotal scenes with Harvey Dent and Jim Gordon, so it will be interesting to see what he ends up doing this time. Also, to catch up on other minor casting from earlier this week, three others have also joined TDKR's cast.

Watch: Roger Ebert's Fantastic 'Remaking My Voice' TEDTalk Video
When film critic Roger Ebert lost his lower jaw to cancer, he lost the ability to eat and speak. But he did not lose his voice. In a moving talk from TED 2011, Ebert and his wife, Chaz, with friends Dean Ornish and John Hunter, come together to tell his remarkable story. That's the introduction to this new 20 minute TED video with Ebert and it's unquestionably a must watch if you've ever read one of his reviews (that means everyone). Not only is it fascinating to hear him "tell" his story, but it's inspirational to hear about how courageous and charming of a person he really is, no matter how many scathing reviews he's given. Enjoy!

Check This Out: Tyler Stout's Gorgeous Mondo Movie 'Akira' Poster
"He's not your friend, he's ours! If somebody's gonna kill him, it should be us!" We've featured a lot of Mondo posters recently, but they keep debuting kick ass posters! Another one just hit the web, but this one is special. HitFix reports that at a highly anticipated, sold out Mondo Mystery Movie screening tonight, which was held in honor of poster artist Tyler Stout's birthday, they screened the iconic anime Akira at his request and gave out limited copies of this poster, created by Stout. Boy is it filled with love because it's, in a word, epic. Yea it's kinda "busy" as some could say, but if you love this movie and the story, all of these

Worth Skipping: Megan Fox & Mickey Rourke in 'Passion Play' Trailer
"How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?" We're bound to have some fun with this trailer. Apple has posted a trailer for Mitch Glazer's Passion Play, the half fantasy, half indie noir drama starring Megan Fox and Mickey Rourke. Its also got Bill Murray, Kelly Lynch, Jerry Sawyers and Rhys Ifans. As interested as you may be in this, let me point you towards many of the scathing reviews of the film from Toronto, like this one calling it "a 90 minute mess" with "downright stupid situations and terrible green screen work." And to be honest, this trailer really isn't that great anyway. Yea, it's definitely a big skip, sadly.

Zemeckis Producing 'How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack' Movie
Yep, you read that right. Apparently none other than former Yellow Submarine helmer and the iconic director of Back to the Future - Robert Zemeckis - is producing an adaptation of a book called How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack. Bloody-Disgusting, who was the first to report before THR, says that Sony Pictures Animation has optioned that book, which will be developed "as an R-rated live-action/CG hybrid budgeted in the $20 million-30 million range." This suddenly got awesome. But no screenwriter is even attached. So it's kinda Small Soldiers but redone with gnomes and Zemeckis producing? I'm totally in.

Must Watch: Theatrical Trailer for Jon Favreau's 'Cowboys & Aliens'
"You go get our people back!" Universal has debuted the full theatrical trailer on Apple for Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens, based on the Platinum comic books, starring Daniel Craig and a whole host of other awesome actors, including Olivia Wilde, Harrison Ford, Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano and even Clancy Brown. Given we've already seen a badass teaser trailer and plenty of posters, we all know what this is about, so let's just get right into it because this looks awesome. Can the line-up of this summer's movies get any better? Everything really looks great so far, and this in particular looks so damn fun! Bring on the summer season!

Watch: 'Casa de mi Padre' Trailer with Will Ferrell Only in Spanish
Wait what? Yep, you read that right, this is that (awesome) new film starring Will Ferrell where he actually only speaks Spanish the entire film. It's not as much of a gimmick as you think, because it's actually just a comedy about a guy who has lived and worked on his father's ranch in Mexico for his entire life but ends up getting into a war with Mexico's most feared drug lord. It's titled Casa de mi Padre, which translates to House of My Father, and the trailer was found on YouTube via GATW. Whoa does this looks crazy yet potentially brilliant. This is exactly what I wanted out of Nacho Libre. I'm in, this is hilarious!

Patton Oswalt & Willem Dafoe Are Joining the Cast of 'Odd Thomas'
Almost a week ago there was a minor casting update for Stephen Sommers' adaptation of Dean Koontz's Odd Thomas series of novels. It was THR that had word that Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) was in talks to join the cast as a local police chief. While we love Dafoe as the next movie fan, we passed on the news until a favorite of mine was also added to the project today. Variety reports comedian Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille, Blade Trinity) has signed on to play an eccentric artist who designs sculptures, including a steel pendant that the titular clairvoyant hero (played by the talented Anton Yelchin) wears around his neck.

A 'Real Steel' Sequel with Hugh Jackman is Already Being Developed
We've only seen a teaser trailer and some early viral marketing material online, but DreamWorks robot boxing flick Real Steel doesn't hit theaters until October 7th. However, DreamWorks has so much faith in the metal smashing romp that Deadline reports the studio is already developing a sequel. John Gatins, who wrote the first film, has already been commissioned to write the sequel and star Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy are expected to return as well. Apparently the internal screenings of the movie and CinemaCon footage got a huge response, and the film is slowly, but surely, generating some serious buzz.
