Joaquin Phoenix Cast in P.T. Anderson's Upcoming Religious Project
Is his religious project actually back from the dead? Variety is reporting that Joaquin Phoenix is currently "in talks" to join the latest Paul Thomas Anderson project, not Inherent Vice with Robert Downey Jr, but rather his new religious project originally called The Master, a Scientology-inspired story that focuses on a charismatic intellectual who creates a "faith-based organization" in America. Although Phoenix has been considering a number of roles since releasing his faux-documentary I'm Still Here, Variety is saying this will be his next role since that big stunt, and Entertainment Weekly has even confirmed his involvement as well.

Tom Hanks Confirmed for The Wachowskis' 'Cloud Atlas' Adaptation
As we learned earlier this year, The Wachowskis are teaming up with German filmmaker Tom Tykwer to direct adaptation of David Mitchell's novel Cloud Atlas. We've known for a while that the cast might include Natalie Portman, Halle Berry, maybe even James McAvoy, but one big name that's now officially confirmed is Tom Hanks. Deadline reports that Hanks is officially attached to star in Cloud Atlas; shooting begins in September. The film will be produced by Five Drops' Grant Hill and Stefan Arndt. This sounds like it should turn out quite interesting, especially with someone as talented as Tom Hanks leading them along.

Michael Clarke Duncan Will Be Voicing Kilowog in 'Green Lantern'!
Briefly: It has been officially confirmed by Heat Vision that actor Michael Clarke Duncan will be voicing the alien Kilowog in DC Comics' Green Lantern movie. The news was originally revealed by Latino Review a few weeks back and THR says Duncan is now "in negotiations" for the voice role. Kilowog (seen above) from the planet Bolovax Vik in Sector 674 is a drill sergeant trainer of new recruits for the Green Lantern Corps and, despite that rather menacing look, is a beloved fan favorite character. Glad to see them putting care and concern into every last detail of Green Lantern. If you haven't yet, watch the WonderCon footage!

Universal Picks Up Joe Kosinski's Sci-Fi 'Horizons' with Tom Cruise
Looks like some bad news for Joseph Kosinski today. While normally it should be a momentous occasion to hear a project get picked up, THR reports that it's Universal, of all places, that ended up winning the fight to distribute Tron Legacy director Joe Kosinski's next epic sci-fi movie. The project was originally known as Oblivion, now known as Horizons, and was being pitched by Kosinski as a comic book, which is where most of the imagery above comes from. Disney then dumped the project a few weeks ago because it's too gritty of a PG-13 action flick for the them. But the best news of all - Tom Cruise is already attached to star!

Bradley Cooper in Talks to Star in Relativity's Reboot of 'The Crow'
Wow. It's no Wally West, but Eric Draven is just as big. It was just announced last week that Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) would take over directing duties in the remake of The Crow, but now THR says that apparently Bradley Cooper is already in early negotiations to star. Obviously Relativity is happy with Cooper as he helped make Limitless quite a bit hit for them and it seems like he was in the loop before Fresnadillo was anyway. Production is targeted to start in the fall and THR doesn't have any other new info, so we'll just have to wait to see how the rest of the project comes together around Fresnadillo and Cooper.

Fantastic Mondo Posters for 'Scream' and 'Nightmare on Elm Street'
We've seen his work previously for special posters commemorating Inglourious Basterds as well as an awesome Sucker Punch shirt at Comic-Con in 2009, now artist Alex Pardee has teamed with Mondo to deliver two new fantastic movie posters for Scream and A Nightmare on Elm Street. One could argue that these two Wes Craven movies have influenced two different generations of horror and helped the changing face of the genre in their own ways. These cool posters capture the spirit of the horror and gore of each film. With Scream 4 hitting theaters this Friday, it sounds like these posters hit the web just in time.

Blake Lively Considering 'Oz: The Great and Powerful' and 'Savages'
We recently heard that "Gossip Girl" star Blake Lively might be leading a Sex and the City prequel, but that rumor seems to have been false. However, the actress does have two promising roles that she's circling. Variety reports the actress is the frontrunner to take the female lead in Oliver Stone's adaptation of Don Winslow's novel Savages. After Jennifer Lawrence took the lead role in Hunger Games, the role in Stone's project was left vacant. Though Lively is the favorite to take the role, she's also currently considering Oz: The Great and Powerful, a project that would see her playing Glinda the Good Witch of the East.

Joe Pesci and Lindsay Lohan Joining John Travolta for 'Gotti' Biopic

Then in January we found out John Travolta would probably be stepping up to play the famous criminal and the news has since been confirmed. Now two more cast members have been added into the mix as ComingSoon attended a press conference this morning where it was revealed that Joe Pesci and Lindsay Lohan have landed parts in the biopic which has been titled Gotti: Three Generations. Pesci's deal is closed, but Lohan is still in the midst of working out details to finalize hers.

Must Read: Our Interview with '13 Assassins' Director Takashi Miike
With over 75 films under his belt, more than a few of them that have sparked a nice amount of controversy, Japanese director Takashi Miike is becoming notorious in the film community. Whether you love, like, or despise his films, there is no questioning the talent he holds in his craft and the drive with which churns them out. Miike's latest film is 13 Assassins, about a band of Japanese warriors who must come together to hunt down and kill an evil ruler. I was lucky enough to speak with Miike, via translator, about what drives him, what themes he looks for, and what he really thinks about remakes, particularly those of his own films.

Alec Baldwin, Maybe Jesse Eisenberg, Are Cast in Woody Allen's Next
As has become the standard process of learning about a new project from Woody Allen, we don't have a story or a title, but a couple cast members have been revealed. Deadline has learned Alec Baldwin will star in the filmmaker's next project, and while details are scarce, this one will still keep him working across the pond with the story set in Rome. Though he's more famously known for his work in New York, the director has enjoyed international locations like Paris as of late. In addition, it looks like he might be banking on some young talent this time as well with Jesse Eisenberg the likely choice for another unknown lead role.

The country music centric film Crazy Heart had a homegrown, western feeling to the story and now director Scott Cooper (seen above) is keeping things rural.
