It was officially confirmed last summer that Cube and Splice director Vincenzo Natali was attached to direct the adaptation of William Gibson's seminal sci-fi novel Neuromancer. This is a project that has been in the works for a long time, but it's now officially coming sometime soon. A press release was put out (via AICN) announcing that Seven Arts Pictures and GFM Films have secured early sales from distributors during Cannes. Territories sold include: South Korea and Thailand, Taiwan, China, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Poland and the Middle East. Not in the US yet, but at least they have some financing so far.

Lars von Trier Banned from Cannes Film Festival for Nazi Statements

Lars von Trier

Oh boy, this is very big news. After the premiere of his latest film Melancholia at the Cannes Film Festival just yesterday (read my review), controversial Danish director Lars von Trier settled in to a room full of international press for a press conference. He's always been known to give wild answers and say crazy things, but von Trier made a statement this time that went a little too far. Answering a question, he said that he found out he was a Nazi and sympathized with Hitler. At first, Cannes retaliated by issuing an official apology on behalf of von Trier. But pressure has caused them to officially ban him, effective immediately.

Exclusive: Spectacular New Japanese Poster for J.J. Abrams' 'Super 8'

Super 8 Movie

It's Close Encounters of the J.J. Kind. We are very excited to debut the official Japanese poster for J.J. Abrams' upcoming sci-fi movie Super 8 tonight, as you'll see below. Paramount has asked us to unveil this spectacular new poster to the world and I'm more than happy to do so, as this is the movie I am most excited to see this summer! The imagery, which has never been seen before, has a very Close Encounters of the Third Kind vibe to it, which makes sense considering the film is an homage to Spielberg's sci-fi classics of the 1970s, but I know Abrams' has crafted his own exciting, original story for the movie. Check this out!

Jay Baruchel Stars in Campy Canadian Thriller 'Good Neighbors' Trailer

Good Neighbors Trailer

"Should I be concerned for my safety?" Magnolia has debuted a trailer on Apple (embed via B-D) for the dramatic chiller/thriller Good Neighbors, set in Montreal, Canada about a "serial killer on the loose." The story focuses on neighbors in an apartment, played by Canadians Jay Baruchel, Emily Hampshire and Brit Scott Speedman, who don't know who's the killer or if they're being stalked or what. This wouldn't look that bad if it wasn't for the extremely cheesy voiceover and that terrible song at the end. Can anyone predict who the killer is just from watching this? I doubt I'll see it, but I still thought it was worth featuring.

The director revealed on his Facebook page that famed British comedian Stephen Fry would be joining the cast as The Master of Laketown. Described as being greedy, but not undeserving of his position in terms of intelligence and charisma, The Master of Laketown is in charge when Bilbo Baggins and and his companions roll into town. In addition, Jackson also revealed Ryan Gage and Conan Stevens had landed roles in the adaptation.

Todd Phillips Says Another 'Hangover' Sequel Would End Franchise

The Hangover Part II

Though we'll be waiting over a week for The Hangover Part II to hit theaters on May 27th, some brief snippets about news of a third film in the series have come out of today's press junket for the summer sequel. Collider was around to catch director Todd Phillips speak vaguely about the potential of another sequel, and while some might be rolling their eyes, Phillips seems to be taking the stance of the Christopher Nolan of comedy, if you will, by saying that another sequel would be the end of the franchise. Phillips says, "Obviously we always envisioned it as a trilogy. The third would be very much a finale and an ending.
