Watch: Goofy Theatrical Trailer for Kevin James' Comedy 'Zookeeper'
"Never let a rival dictate the outcome of a situation!" Sony has debuted the full theatrical trailer on Yahoo for Zookeeper, the talking animals summer comedy starring Kevin James and Leslie Bibb. I'm not even really sure of the plot besides that animals in a zoo can talk to the zookeeper. We got a very quick tease of this late last year, but this trailer just confirms it looks just plain stupid. The monkey sounds like an old school Adam Sandler voice, which it may actually be, but it just doesn't work for me. In fact, I don't think half of the voices work on the animals, they sound so odd, but maybe that's me. Watch it at your own risk!

Phillip Noyce Set to Remake Jean Claude Van Damme's 'Bloodsport'
After helming the 2010 summer action flick Salt, director Phillip Noyce has been linked to several different projects. There's Our Wild Life with Nicole Kidman circling the lead role, an adaptation of an unpublished Navy SEALs thriller Firing Point, the time travel drama Timeless, and the spy flick Wenceslas Square. Now the filmmaker finds himself linked to another project as Screen Daily has heard news out of Cannes that Noyce is set to direct a remake of the 1988 Jean Claude Van Damme action flick Bloodsport with Robert Mark Kamen, writer behind Fifth Element, Taken and The Transporter franchise, scripting it.

Cannes 2011 Review: Justin Kurzel's Aussie Crime Drama 'Snowtown'
There are occasionally films I watch where I appreciate the filmmaking, but due to the subject matter, can't reasonably say I enjoyed (I would put Precious in that category, as I haven't ever wanted to watch it again). The Australian film I saw today from the Cannes Critics' Week (Semaine de la Critique), titled Snowtown, is another one of those films. It's a gritty, realistic Aussie crime drama in the same vein as David Michôd's Animal Kingdom (a fantastic film itself, highly recommended) but the story is so disturbing, unnerving, and just sick at times, that in no way could I say I enjoyed it. But it is actually a damn good film, that's for sure.

Ridley Scott is Producing and Directing Cold War Drama 'Reykjavik'
Though he's currently busy shooting his Alien prequel Prometheus, filmmaker Ridley Scott has apparently been confirmed to produce and direct another project sometime later. Screen Daily has word from Headline Pictures and Participant Media that Scott has boarded the Cold War drama Reykjavik as producer and director. Written by Kevin Hood (Becoming Jane) the film focuses on the meeting between US president Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in the mid-1980s which helped bring about the end of the Cold War. This sounds like a project in the same vein as Ron Howard's historical drama Frost/Nixon.

Must Watch: First Exciting 'The Adventures of Tintin' Teaser Trailer
"The Unicorn... what secrets do you hold?" Paramount/Sony has debuted the first official teaser trailer via Apple for Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson's The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, the CGI animated adventure starring the beloved characters created by Hergé. Voicing Tintin (as you'll hear briefly) is Jamie Bell and I think there's a brief moment of Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock or Daniel Craig as Red Rackham. This actually looks quite epic, adventuresome, and fun, I can't wait to see more. This is only an early teaser with a bit of footage, so don't expect too much but it is a great first intro. Enjoy!

Warner Bros. to Keep Conjuring Magic with 'The Lost Years of Merlin'
With the studio nearing the end of this international franchise with Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows: Part II hitting theaters on July 15th Warner Bros. is anxious to fill the void left by the conclusion of the fantasy series. Well, they may find it in yet another wizarding tale as the studio has decided make a big budget adaptation of The Lost Years of Merlin, the first book in a series of fantasy novels by T.A. Barron. Apparently the project had previously been set up at Paramount with Mr. and Mrs. Smith director Simon Kinberg attached, but their option on the property ran out, and now the project has new life at Warner Bros.

Cannes 2011: Group Discussion About Terrence Malick's 'Tree of Life'
It has finally arrived. After years of waiting, Terrence Malick's highly anticipated new film The Tree of Life officially premiered today at the Cannes Film Festival, to quite a bit of acclaim and discussion. Most have probably already heard that the film is considerably abstract and very cosmic, focusing not only on a family in Texas in the 50s, but also showing the creation of the universe and life as we know on it Earth. It's such an interpretive film, that I felt I really needed to watch it a second time before writing a formal review, so instead I decided to have a quick discussion about the film with a few friends, shot on location in Cannes.

Tim Burton No Longer Directing Angelina Jolie in Disney's 'Maleficent'
Since as far back as January of 2010, director Tim Burton has been loosely attached to direct Maleficent, a live-action take on Sleeping Beauty that would tell the fairytale story from the point of view of the evil witch who threatens the princess' life. Writer Linda Woolverton, who collaborated with Burton on Disney's new live-action take on Alice in Wonderland was also brought on board to write the script with Angelina Jolie lined up to play the titular evil queen. However, Heat Vision reports that Burton has decided that he will not sit in the director's chair for the movie, and the search is on for someone else to direct it now.

Chris Pine Throwing His Name in the 'Mud' for Director Jeff Nichols
Though most audiences have only seen him on screen as Captain Kirk in 2009's Star Trek franchise reboot or in the Speed on a train action flick Unstoppable, actor Chris Pine has some dramatic chops that he's been stretching on the stage. He's starred in Farragut North, the political play being adapted into a film called The Ides of March by George Clooney, and now Pine is looking to team-up with Shotgun Stories and Take Shelter director Jeff Nichols for a new drama called Mud. The story follows two 14-year old boys who come across a fugitive named Mud (Pine) and must help him escape an island in the Mississippi.

First Official Teaser Poster for Disney's 'The Muppets' Movie Unveiled
They're Closer Than You Think. Many fans are getting excited to see The Muppets movie when it finally returns to the big screen this fall, but Disney hasn't officially started up any direct marketing yet. However, Ain't It Cool News posted a photo snapped of the first official teaser poster we've seen for The Muppets that was apparently found on display at a theater in Montreal. It shows Kermit and Miss Piggy and even Fozzie Bear and Gonzo. I'm not sure why some are calling this so strange, as I think it just looks like a fun twist on normal Hollywood posters but with the Muppets. Check out the low res photo of The Muppets poster below.

Competition Between Rival 'Snow White' Projects Starts Heating Up
You would've thought that one of the two actively developing Snow White projects would've given up by now, but both Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman from director Rupert Sanders and Relativity Media's The Brothers Grimm: Snow White (which may get a new title) from director Tarsem Singh have been moving forward with casting and development with eyes towards their respective 2012 release dates. While Universal was slated to release their Snow White film months after Relativity, the studio has just given the film the original June 1st, 2012 release date given to Judd Apatow's next comedy. Uh-oh!

First Photo of Firth and Diaz in 'Gambit' and Two More Join the Cast
Last November we got word that director Michael Hoffman would be at the helm of the gestating Coen Brothers scripted remake of the 1966 caper Gambit and then Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz eventually signed on to star. Now we have a first look at the duo on set in the story of British art curator Harry Deane (Firth), who devises a finely-crafted scheme to con England's richest man and avid art collector, Lionel Shabandar, (Alan Rickman) into purchasing a fake Monet painting. To bait his buyer, he recruits a Texas rodeo queen (Diaz) to pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.
