MTV's Lego 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' Trailer Redo
The pirate all pirates fear - Blackbeard! Well ain't this just fun. MTV has debuted their own Lego recreation of the trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which is hitting theaters in just a few more weeks. I thought they were doing a shot-for-shot version of the latest trailer, but this just seems to be a combination of clips they hand-picked. Either way, it's actually just as entertaining watching Johnny Depp in Lego form as Captain Jack Sparrow as it is watching him on screen in real life. At least for two minutes online. Ian McShane, who plays Blackbeard, introduces the video. Check it out and tell us what you think?

Brett Ratner Lined Up to Direct Adaptation of '39 Clues' Book Series
Though the project was once said to be a potentiel directing gig for Steven Spielberg, it looks like the adaptation of the young adult book series The 39 Clues will have another filmmaker in the director's chair. Deadline reports Brett Ratner (Rush Hour, X-Men: The Last Stand) will direct the adaptation of the book series which follows two siblings of the Cahill Family who have to choose between inheriting $1 million or taking on a perilous treasure hunt for 39 clues which will make them the most powerful and influential people on the planet. So far 11 books in the series have been published, but it's bigger than the books.

Charlie Hunnam to Lead Guillermo del Toro's Sci-Fi Film 'Pacific Rim'
Though he may not be a household name, British actor Charlie Hunnam is on the rise to stardom. Not only does the actor star on the FX series "Sons of Anarchy" but he'll also appear in the Sundance selected thriller The Ledge when it hits theaters this year. But now Deadline reports Hunnam has just landed a huge role as the lead in Pacific Rim, the next film from Guillermo del Toro. The story sees extraterrestrial creatures hellbent on destroying the Earth as humanity must band together to develop highly advanced, and weapon-ready robots to fight face the creatures. It's like an epic playtime from my childhood coming to life!

Jason Momoa Splatters Blood on a New 'Conan the Barbarian' Poster
Born on the Battlefield. Lionsgate has debuted the newest official poster for Conan the Barbarian 3D, which is hitting theaters late this summer, obviously in 3D. We finally featured the badass theatrical trailer with actual footage for this new Conan, starring Jason Momoa, just a few weeks ago and I still think it looks quite awesome. IGN debuted this new poster seen below, which reminds me of the posters for other epic action movies, like Centurion (this one looks quite similar, doesn't it?). I just hope this movie actually delivers all the brutal, bloody action it promises. Check out the new Conan the Barbarian 3D poster below!

Watch: First New Trailer for Miranda July's Quirky Indie 'The Future'
"Well the thing is, you're just in the middle of the beginning right now." Roadside Attractions has debuted an official trailer for Miranda July's The Future, the quirky indie about a couple who decide to get a cat that premiered at Sundance to quite a bit of acclaim, including a glowing review from Ethan. The film has a very Charlie Kaufman feel to it and I'm sure anyone who watches this trailer will be saying "what the...?" half of the time. Yea, there's a talking cat, some weird meta interpersonal ideas and plenty more. Miranda July also stars as Sophie along with Hamish Linklater as her husband and it's quite a ride. Have fun with this!

Darren Aronofsky to Direct Sci-Fi 'Human Nature' Starring Clooney?!
Another new project for Darren Aronofsky following his departure from The Wolverine earlier this year, and perhaps a chance for him to finally work with George Clooney. Vulture is reporting that Aronofsky is now attached to a project called Human Nature, a 15-year-old spec script from writer Jeff Welch about a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species. And this isn't Planet of the Apes? Vulture says Clooney is "attaching himself to star" and that big producer Akiva Goldsman is developing and budgeting. Word is this may be next for Aronofsky.

Watch: Kermit-Cam at Disney's 'Pirates of the Caribbean 4' Premiere
This is genius. Disney is promoting two movies in one by releasing this fun new video where Kermit the Frog heads to the big premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides at Disneyland this past weekend (embed via YouTube). You see, Disney also has Jason Segel's The Muppets coming out at Thanksgiving, and as we've mentioned before, they've been re-introducing the beloved Muppets back into the world by way of viral videos on YouTube. Kermit hits the red carpet, talks with the stars and much more. Even if you're not normally interested in videos from movie premieres like this, it's still a fun one to watch.

Hoffman and Phoenix Confirmed for P.T. Anderson's Religious Drama
That's right folks. Not only have Joaquin Phoenix (revealed to be joining the project last month) and Philip Seymour Hoffman been confirmed to star in the religious drama from Paul Thomas Anderson formerly known as The Master, but Deadline says the film has distribution and will shoot this June. After being delayed indefinitely last year, good news came in February that funding may finally have been rounded up. This will be Anderson's first film since There Will Be Blood in 2007 and The Weinstein Company will be distributing after winning a "quiet but fevered bidding battle" for worldwide rights.

Alex is Heading Back to the 2011 Cannes Film Festival Once Again!
Round Three! I'm currently at the airport waiting to board my flights to Nice, France where I'll then catch a bus down to the very south of France to attend my third Cannes Film Festival in a row. It's a particularly exciting year thanks to The Tree of Life and Melancholia, but after a mediocre reaction to the films from last year, the line-up for 2011 looks like it might be a truly amazing year. Only time will tell, but as always, I wanted to let you guys know that for the next two weeks I'll be covering the fest and running this website from France. The fest runs from May 11th to 22nd and I'll be there the entire time. We'll see you in France!

Director Marcus Nispel Will Next Be at the Helm of 'Backmask' Horror
We just recently saw the trailer for his epic remake of Conan the Barbarian, but now director Marcus Nispel is returning to the horror genre. After directing the remakes of both The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th, the filmmaker will next direct Backmask, a new horror film from Steven Schneider, the producer of Paranormal Activity and Insidious. Deadline just recently reported on the project, but their reports was seemingly lacking in details other than saying the story involves paranoia, possession and the paranormal. Sounds like any number of horror films, but fortunately details were available elsewhere.

First Look: Timur Bekmambetov's 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'
Production is already underway on the adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's alternate history novel Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and while we normally don't get our first look at a film until closer to the release date, The New York Times was allowed a very early visit on set, and a snapshot from the production has just been unveiled. It's nothing special, but it does show Benjamin Walker as our 16th president delivering some sort of speech in this strange story that reimagines our nation's iconic historical leader as a vampire hunter due to the blood thirsty creatures' involvement in the slave trade from the past.

Watch: Death Back for More in First Trailer for 'Final Destination 5'
It's kill or be killed. Nobody is safe. Though the last installment of the franchise may have bee touted as The Final Destination, Hollywood just can't resist another sequel. And so here we are with the first trailer for Final Destination 5. It seems to have everything that fans have come to love and expect from the franchise complete with tension-filled, unique deaths, and a tease of that one big disaster that the characters will soon come to regret surviving as Death comes looking for them. The good news is, in addition to the young, lesser known victims, franchise star Tony Todd seems to have a more significant role in it. Enjoy!
