Orlando Bloom Now Confirmed to Return as Legolas for 'The Hobbit'

Orlando Bloom - Legolas

Briefly: This was completely expected, but always great to hear confirmation anyway. TheOneRing reports that Peter Jackson has confirmed via his Facebook that actor Orlando Bloom will be returning to play Legolas, the Elf of the Woodland Realm, in The Hobbit movies based on J.R.R. Tolkien's book, which are currently shooting in 3D/48FPS down in New Zealand as we speak. Bloom hasn't actually been appearing in too many movies recently, but with a storyline that "bridges" Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, we naturally assumed Bloom would be one of the actors returning to Middle Earth. Read Jackson's full statement below.

Must Watch: Nostalgic 'Harry Potter - Through the Pensieve' Montage

Harry Potter - Through the Pensieve

"You're a wizard, Harry!" I expect this to only be the first of many Harry Potter tributes we'll see over the next few months before Deathly Hallows: Part 2 hits theaters. Their own intro is best for this: "Over the years, the Harry Potter series has had a very special place in my heart. With the final film coming out in 50 days, I thought it would be a good time to look back at the journey we've taken with the film versions of JK Rowling's unforgettable characters. A retrospective spanning all 8 films, this tells the story of the bravery of children, the folly of the powerful, and the overriding force of love." Watch it below - it's quite emotional!

Watch: Newer, Better UK Trailer for Lone Scherfig's Drama 'One Day'

One Day UK Trailer

"I love you Dexter, I just don't like you any more..." I'm not exactly sure how, but the first trailer Focus Features put out for Lone Scherfig's new drama One Day was pretty awful, it made the film look like nothing more than a cheesy new rom-com. But now, thanks to MSN UK (via Empire) we have a brand new international, or rather UK, trailer for One Day that finally makes this look much better. Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess star as ill-fated lovers Emma and Dexter. It gets a bit cheesy when the voiceover comes in after the second half, but it builds up to a charming and sweet ending, I thought. Still can't wait to see it!

Review: 'Kung Fu Panda 2' is a New Sequel that Delivers in Every Way

Kung Fu Panda 2 Review

Bigger. Funnier. Better action. Faster paced. More prominent heart in the story. By every account imaginable, DreamWorks Animation's new animated movie, Kung Fu Panda 2, is a superior film to its predecessor. What began as a light-hearted, martial arts romp with gloriously crafted CG creatures has turned everything up to their brightest points, and what is delivered is a wonderfully entertaining and heart-warming movie that will make everyone in the audience provide their own hearty "skadoosh". That might be trademarked. Just don't say anything to Jack Black.

Official Trailer for Rachel Weisz Film 'The Whistleblower' Finally Out

The Whistleblower Trailer

"Doesn't matter who I work for, I wouldn't let anybody get away with this." We finally have an official trailer for the political indie drama The Whistleblower starring Rachel Weisz courtesy of its debut on Apple. We first featured a trailer for this a little over a year ago, but it was pulled because it was an early release. This new trailer has definitely amped up the energy and seems way more like a war film than the political drama it supposedly is. The supporting cast includes: Monica Bellucci, Vanessa Redgrave, David Strathairn, Benedict Cumberbatch, David Hewlett and Liam Cunningham. It doesn't actually look half bad.

Zach Braff Now in Talks for Sam Raimi's 'Oz: The Great and Powerful'

Zach Braff

Though some audiences have seen him in the Tribeca Film Festival selected film High Cost of Living, most of us haven't seen Zach Braff on the big screen since 2006 when he was in both The Ex and The Last Kiss. But now it sounds like the actor will return to movies in a big way as Deadline reports Braff is finalizing a deal to star in Sam Raimi's next film Oz: The Great and Powerful, the prequel to the classic Wizard of Oz. Braff will take the role of Frank, the loyal but under-appreciated assistant to Oz (James Franco) a magician who flees his traveling circus in a hot air balloon only to be blown off course into the land of Oz.

Casting Tidbits: Elijah Wood, Kenan Thompson, Colin Hanks and More

Wood / Thompson / Hanks

Casting Tidbits feel real while we're in them. It's only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange. First up, after hearing about Emma Roberts, Ari Graynor and Chris Messina joining the cast of Celeste & Jesse Forever starring Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg as the titular divorced couple., we now have word on another cast member joining the project as THR reports Elijah Wood has signed on to star as well. In the story of Celeste & Jesse trying to stay friends while being divorced and pursuing new relationships, Wood will be playing Celeste's business partner who tries to be her "saucy gay friend."

John Cho Also Joins the Cast of Len Wiseman's 'Total Recall' Remake

John Cho

We just recently got confirmation that Kate Beckinsale would again be working with her husband, Underworld director Len Wiseman for his remake of the 1990 sci-fi action hit Total Recall. In addition Jessica Biel and Bill Nighy had also joined the cast in two pivotal roles in the story. Now an actor who made waves in another sci-fi tentpole has signed on for the remake as EW reports Star Trek star John Cho will play McClane, the smooth-talking rep for the mind-messing company that tempts Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell) to implant fantastic memories into his brain but ends up inadvertently making him think he's a spy.

First Smarmy Trailer for Fall Comedy 'I Don't Know How She Does It'

I Don't Know How She Does It Trailer

"You're allowed to miss your children." The Weinstein Company has debuted the first trailer for Doug McGrath's comedy I Don't Know How She Does It, headlined by Sarah Jessica Parker but starring a boatload of other actors. This starts out kind of like Sex and the City but becomes something a bit different, as it's adapted from a novel. The cast includes: Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear, Olivia Munn, Seth Meyers, Kelsey Grammer, Christina Hendricks and Jessica Szohr. Obviously this isn't going to appeal to everyone, so stay away if you know you won't like it, otherwise dive in to another kitschy comedy.

Michael Mann Might Be Ready to 'Go Like Hell' for New Racing Drama

Go Like Hell / Michael Mann

Back in October of 2009, we heard that Josh Brolin and Brad Pitt were interested in a new project called Go Like Hell, a fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled racing drama set up at Fox. Based on A.J. Baime's non-fiction book Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari, and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans, which tells the remarkable story of how Henry Ford II, with the help of a young visionary named Lee Iacocca and former racing champ turned engineer, Carroll Shelby, concocted a scheme to reinvent the Ford company. Now Variety says Collateral and Public Enemies director Michael Mann is in early talks to direct the film.

Review: 'Attack the Block' Delivers Funny, Fresh and Fantastic Sci-Fi

Attack the Block Review

Straight out of the United Kingdom came Shaun of the Dead, a film that simultaneously made light of and paid homage to zombie movies with spectacular results. Now the film's director Edgar Wright has thrown his producing support behind another spectacular film that drops some Brits and comedy into sci-fi with Attack the Block. This stellar film from Joe Cornish feels like it could've come straight out of the 80's as it feels like a darker, scarier combination of The Goonies and Gremlins with great respect paid to alien invasion/monster movies of decades past that moves swiftly and delivers great laughs and action. Directorless: Albert Hughes Off 'Akira', David O Russell Off 'Uncharted'

Hughes Brothers - Akira

Briefly: Bad news. Two big Hollywood projects, two adaptations, have hit a big snag. Deadline reports that Albert Hughes, one half of the Hughes Brothers (Dead Presidents, From Hell, The Book of Eli), is walking away from directing Warner Bros' live-action Akira, based on the manga/anime. He'd been attached since last February, but is leaving due to "amicable creative differences" not long after Keanu Reeves passed on the lead; the project is still on a fast track. Deadline/ShowBlitz also reports that David O. Russell has left the Uncharted: Drake's Fortune video game adaptation at Sony, which he was writing/directing, also because of "creative differences." Maybe he saw IGN's video game movies chart and realized it was hopeless.
