Interview: Bad Robot's J.J. Abrams - Writer and Director of 'Super 8'
Arriving in theaters everywhere this weekend is Super 8, the latest movie from the mastermind behind the TV show "Lost", Bad Robot, the Star Trek reboot, Mission: Impossible 3 and so much more - visionary filmmaker J.J. Abrams. I'm admittedly a very big Abrams' fan, but it's for good reason, as I love his movies and his sensibilities, both as a filmmaker and as a businessman in Hollywood using classic methods and "mystery" to sell his movies. I was lucky enough to sit down for a one-on-one chat with J.J. Abrams a few weeks back after first seeing Super 8 and you can find my full interview with him, transcribed in text, below.

Adam Scott Gets Roles in Both 'My Mother's Curse' and 'See Girl Run'
The actor has had some great supporting roles in films like Step Brothers and a fantastic dramatic turn in the indie The Vicious Kind, but Adam Scott may best be known for his work on the TV shows "Party Down" and "Parks and Recreation." Well, the actor has just booked a couple film roles which he'll likely shoot while on hiatus from the latter comedy series as Risky Biz reports Scott will star in both the comedy My Mother's Curse with Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand and a romantic comedy called See Girl Run which has Pineapple Express director David Gordon Green executive producing. Info on both films below!

Awesome New TV Spot for 'Conan the Barbarian' with Jason Momoa
"I do not want your kingdom... I want your head!" Gotta love the one-liners coming from of this movie. A brand new, 30-second long TV spot for Marcus Nispel's Conan the Barbarian reboot, starring Jason Momoa, has hit the web thanks to a debut on GodoftheArena's YouTube (via MarketSaw). This comes as a follow-up to the theatrical trailer that debuted a month ago and features lots of shots of epic action and sets and all kinds of crazy stuff. The song, for those that don't know, is by Hollywood Undead. I still think this looks awesome, like it will be action-filled extravaganza that should be a fun way to end this summer. Enjoy!

Watch: New Web Only Trailer for Tom Hanks' Comedy 'Larry Crowne'
"Spectacular!" Actor Tom Hanks took to Twitter today to unveil a new trailer for Larry Crowne, the film that he wrote and directed and stars in, along with the always delightful Julia Roberts as the "teacher" he falls in love with. This summer comedy hits theaters on July 1st this summer, in just a few weeks, but we've only seen one trailer before this one. It doesn't look as much like Billy Madison this time, but I wouldn't say it sells Larry Crowne any better, but I'm going to see it just for Hanks and Roberts anyway. The best part about this - George Takei has the funniest moment in the whole thing. Check out this latest trailer below!

Review: J.J. Abrams' 'Super 8' is a Love Letter For Better or For Worse
There's a moment about midway through J.J. Abrams' latest films, Super 8, that gets right to the heart of what the writer/director/mystery box filler was going for. Lillian, Ohio Deputy Jackson Lamb, played by Kyle Chandler, is addressing a smattering of townsfolk about strange disturbances in the 1979 town. Pets have run away. Odd things are happening with the electricity. Even a few people have up and disappeared. Lamb, walking to his squad car, is approached by people of the town one right after another. He addresses their concerns, and Abrams' camera glides around the actors and the town setting with continuous

Warren Beatty is Apparently Still Developing a Sequel to 'Dick Tracy'
Last night, the LA Times opened the Hero Complex Film Festival with a special screening of the 1990 comic strip adaptation Dick Tracy complete with a special Q&A with the film's star, director and all-around Hollywood legend Warren Beatty. The film was quite an innovation over two decades ago, and while influences from Tim Burton's Batman can certainly be seen in the film, it really is a fun comic-inspired film all on its own. Well, for years a sequel has been rumored, and the big news from last night (via SlashFilm) was that Beatty is still planning on making a sequel. However, it's not clear how soon that might happen.

Chris Columbus Gets Remake Rights to Norwegian Film 'Troll Hunter'
Last November we learned that Universal Pictures had already snagged the remake rights to director André Øvredal's faux documentary The Troll Hunter. In April, not much progress had been made, but the director said an announcement would be coming soon. Well, now is the time for an update as Deadline says filmmaker Chris Columbus and his 1492 Pictures banner has partnered with CJ Entertainment & Media to remake the Norwegian film (currently available OnDemand) which follows a group of students whose investigation into a series of mysterious bear killings leads to something sinister. Read on!

Worth Watching: A Few of the Best Cinematic Trailers from E3 2011
With video game convention E3 coming to a close today in Los Angeles, I asked my friend Kent Lundblad of gaming blog The 72 Pins to drop by FS.net today with a brief commentary and good selection of cinematic game trailers that would be the best to feature on a movie blog like this. So to compliment that Star Trek 2012 game trailer we featured earlier in the week, here's a few more cinematics from E3 2011 to check out.
Ubisoft has been making a lot of headlines lately when they revealed that they wish to pursue making their own films based on their AAA gaming titles. I've always said that the best people to adapt a story from one

Columbia Wants to Roll the Dice with John Hlavin to Pen 'Risk' Movie
While we're waiting for Peter Berg's big budget adaptation of the board game Battleship to set sail in 2012, another board game adaptation is just gearing up for battle. Over a year and a half ago we learned Columbia Pictures had bought into the board game adaptation craze by making moves to turn Hasbro's strategy game Risk into a feature film. Now Risky Biz reports that writer John Hlavin, who penned the upcoming sequel Underworld: New Dawn and Donkey Punch, and was story editor on "The Shield", will be behind the script that will attempt to capture the classic game of world domination into a narrative story for the big screen.

Check This Out: Shepard Fairey's New Mondo Poster for 'They Live'!
Obey! Mondo Tees and the Alamo Drafthouse have debuted the latest fantastic poster for their screening event of John Carpenter's They Live tonight. Mondo somehow snagged the famous street artist Shepard Fairey, known for the iconic "Obey" street art and the "Hope" Obama poster, to design this recreation and it's frickin' awesome. I wouldn't expect anything less from Shepard Fairey, especially when he's mashing up his own "Obey" imagery with all the They Live imagery. For those who want a copy of this poster, good news is that it's on sale tomorrow (follow @MondoNews for a link) for $50 in a limited edition of 500. I want one!

Viral Update: 'Real Steel' WRB Trading Cards Being Handed Out at E3
I've been receiving a couple emails from readers out at E3 this week saying they've been picking up trading cards from girls handing them out in WRB shirts. If you remember, WRB stands for World Robot Boxing, and it's part of the on-going viral for DreamWorks' Real Steel. Earlier this year during PAX East, another gaming convention, controller cards were given out that lead to a viral website. And apparently these new trading cards for the robot boxing movie also link to a new viral site located at WRB.com/workshop called Design For Chaos where you can customize/create your own robot fighter - it's pretty cool. Photos below.
