Damon Lindelof Discusses 'Prometheus' & 'Alien' Universe Connection
It looks like someone has finally spilled the beans and revealed that Ridley Scott's new sci-fi Prometheus, currently shooting, is indeed a part of the Alien universe. But how exactly? Well, it's complicated. It was writer Damon Lindelof ("Lost", Cowboys & Aliens), who took over writing duties on the script last year, that revealed the information in an interview he did on the Kevin Pollak Chat Show recently. But it's quite a long answer. You see, Prometheus is still a prequel, but not really connected, as he explains. This is kind of exciting to hear, especially in lieu of Comic-Con coming up, where we've heard there might be a first reveal.

Watch: Quick TV Trailer for 'Warrior' with Tom Hardy & Joel Edgerton
"One fights for his family, the other fights for his country." Lionsgate recently unveiled a new TV trailer, a 60-second long TV spot, for Gavin O'Connor's Warrior, the upcoming MMA drama starring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton as brothers. We saw the first trailer for this back in April and I'm sure we'll see another one before its release in September, but for now this is a pretty damn good little trailer to check out. I still really love this movie (my early review) and although they kind of play up the cheesier elements of the film, it's still a great movie in the end. This also stars Nick Nolte, Jennifer Morrison and Noah Emmerich. Enjoy!

RZA and D.J. Cotrona Are Also Joining the Ranks of 'G.I. Joe' Sequel
Earlier this month we found out Dwayne Johnson was going to lend his muscle to the action figure sequel G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes. The actor would be one of many new talents joining Channing Tatum, one of the few returning cast members from the first film. Now two more names are lining up for some action as Heat Vision reports rapper-turned-actor RZA (above) and "Detroit 1-8-7" star D.J. Cotrona are both negotiating to star in the film. Though we don't know the full story yet, the title suggests an active role for Cobra Commander despite that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will not be reprising his villainous role from the first.

Jeff Bridges Producing and Starring in Adaptation of 'The Giver' Novel
For over a decade now, Jeff Bridges and producer Nikki Silver have been trying to get an adaptation of the young adult novel The Giver into production, but they hit a snag back in 2007 when Warner Bros. ended up picking up the book. But now Variety says the rights have become available again, and now Bridges and Silver are looking to finally get the project off the ground. Vadim Perelman (The House of Sand and Fog) is still attached to pen the script, and while Bridges had initially envisioned the project for his father, the late, great actor Lloyd Bridges, it sounds like he'll end up starring in the film himself. Read on!

Four New Blood-Splattered 'Fright Night' Character Posters Revealed
We've seen a couple trailers for the forthcoming release of the comedy-horror remake Fright Night starring Anton Yelchin and Colin Farrell, and I have to say that I'm pretty interested to see how it turns out. Though it looks a little darker than I anticipated, I feel like this remake could actually land on its feet. With the August release inching closer, the hype machine is turning up a bit with four new character banners for the film. They're not exactly fantastic posters, but they do offer another cool glimpse of David Tennant toting a shotgun, and even Imogen Poots looks like a bad-ass. Check out all four posters below!

Casting Tidbits: David Strathairn, Carey Mulligan, and Nicole Kidman
Casting Tidbits feel real while we're in them. It's only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange. First up, DreamWorks sent over a press release today saying David Strathairn (Good Night and Good Luck) will be playing Secretary of State William Seward in Steven Spielberg's historical biopic Lincoln. Strathairn joins an amazing cast that already includes the amazing Daniel Day-Lewis as our 16th president Abraham Lincoln and Sally Field as his wife Mary Todd Lincoln. Production begins this fall in Virginia and it sounds like the film will hit theaters in late 2012 for an Oscar-qualifying run.

Haley Joel Osment Will 'Wake the Dead' in Frankenstein Themed Tale
After receiving an Oscar nomination for his fantastic turn as a young child in The Sixth Sense, the now 23-year old Haley Joel Osment is set to make a return to acting after taking a hiatus to work on his college degree. Variety reports Osment will star in Wake the Dead, an adaptation of Steven Niles' graphic novel of the same name which takes the classic story of Frankenstein and sets it in modern day. Osment will play a college student named Victor Franklin who is experimenting with reversing death. This will actually be produced through Slasher Films, the horror banner from guitarist Slash we learned about last year.

Ben Affleck Will Now Be Directing Himself + John Goodman in 'Argo'
Back when we heard Ben Affleck was going to direct Argo instead of starring in The Great Gatsby, it was said that the actor-turned-director might also star in the film as well. Since then we haven't heard one way or the other as the only actor to negotiate for a role so far has been Alan Arkin. Now Variety confirms that Affleck will indeed take a role in his own film based on a 2007 Wired article about how the CIA and the Canadian government used a fake sci-fi film to rescue Americans during the Tehran hostage crisis. In addition, another report from the trade has revealed John Goodman has also taken a role in the film.

Leonardo DiCaprio Being Courted for Clint Eastwood's 'A Star is Born'
Towards the beginning of the year, we heard a bit of a wild news story that director Clint Eastwood had boarded the long-gestating remake of the 1954 musical A Star is Born ((which itself was a remake of the 1937 film of the same name). The film would team Eastwood with chart-topping singer Beyoncé in the story of a movie star helps a young singer/actress find fame, even as age and alcoholism send his own career into a downward spiral. We've been waiting to hear who might take the male lead, with Will Smith surfacing at one time, but now Deadline hears Leonardo DiCaprio is being courted for the role.

Check These Out: Amusing Hipster-Themed 'Broship' LOTR Comic Art
"Never did hear of a hipster before." I am a hardcore Lord of the Rings fanatic (yep I'll be seeing Return of the King, all 4.5 hours, tomorrow in theaters) and it couldn't be more perfect timing to feature a fantastic set of illustrations from the internet that pay homage to my favorite movies. As I'm sure everyone knows, the Extended Lord of the Rings finally hit Blu-Ray tomorrow, so it's all-out LOTR around here. I came across a fantastic set of web comics on Tumblr made by Gingerhaze (aka Noelle Stevenson) that are part of a series nicknamed the "Broship of the Ring" as they basically re-imagine LOTR characters as hipsters.

Another Creepy Official Trailer for Darren Lynn Bousman's '11-11-11'
After helming a couple sequels in the Saw franchise, Mother's Day and Repo!, director Darren Lynn Bousman is delivering 11-11-11, a timely thriller coming on that very date later this year. Now Bloody-Disgusting has revealed another new trailer for the horror film which focuses on one man who becomes plagued with the strange happenings and constant sightings of the number 11. Much like Jim Carrey in The Number 23, this first creepy trailer shows Timothy Gibbs as the one becoming obsessed with the number which may not only have a horrific meaning for his own life, but possibly all of religion. Check it out below!

Guillermo del Toro Calling 'Pacific Rim' His Least Modest Film to Date
The cast has been filling out for the return of director Guillermo del Toro with his first film directing gig in nearly four years. Though the loss of The Hobbit and At the Mountains of Madness were surely crushing, del Toro has since rounded up Idris Elba to lead his big budget sci-fi flick Pacific Rim with Charlie Hunnam and Charlie Day taking a couple major roles too. Thankfully, it sounds like this project won't end up getting pulled out from under him, and as with anything del Toro gets his hands on, he sounds extremely passionate and exciting telling Collider, "So far, knock on wood, it’s the greatest experience of my life."
