Ryan Gosling & Nicolas Winding Refn Reunite for 'Only God Forgives'
Their first collaboration in the form of the action thriller Drive hit Cannes Film Festival last month (Alex seemed to thoroughly enjoy it), and director Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling are already set to reunite for a remake of Logan's Run. However, it sounds like before the sci-fi revamp gets off the ground, Gosling and Refn will team-up again for Only God Forgives, the filmmaker's gestating Bangkok-set modern western (East meets West) about a Thai police lieutenant and a gangster settling their differences in a Thai-boxing match. Gosling is replacing Luke Evans who previously was lined up to star in the film.

'King of Kong's' Seth Gordon Rebooting MGM's 'WarGames' Remake
Interesting news on the remake front tonight. Deadline says that MGM is planning a "reboot" of the 1983 Matthew Broderick classic WarGames and they've brought in none other than The King of Kong director Seth Gordon to develop and direct. Since directing that fan favorite documentary about arcade games, Gordon has been off directing comedies for Warner Bros like Four Christmases and Horrible Bosses, but now he's got quite a bit of cred and it sounds like this is another project he's setting up to work on. It doesn't make sense for this to be a sequel, but a reboot/update might work out, if they go all out with the right idea.

"Just a kid from Brooklyn!" Marvel and Paramount have unveiled the second official trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger, starring Chris Evans and directed by Joe Johnston, and it's frickin' awesome! This is the second full theatrical trailer following the initial teaser debuted back in March, so this has certainly been a long time coming, but it's definitely making the end of this summer look like it'll go out with a bang. The cast includes Hugo Weaving as Red Skull, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci, Dominic Cooper, Sebastian Stan and Toby Jones. I cannot wait, this looks so amazing!

Review: Pixar's Latest Sequel 'Cars 2' Proves That Giants Can Stumble
With Cars 2, Pixar has done the unthinkable. They've released a film that isn't funny, is never engaging, and falls to pieces under its particularly hulking attempt at being an easy money grab. It isn't like them. Pixar, animation giant that it is, has a completely spotless record, but even films that slightly miss their respective mark like A Bug's Life and the first Cars have the notable credit of heart and humor fitted into them to a point. Those two films were good but not great, mind you, and it seemed unlikely Pixar would have an out-and-out bomb in their immediate arsenal. Even with apprehension stemming from Cars, hopes

Warren Beatty and Phenomenal Cast Line Up for Howard Hughes Film
Earlier this week we learned that Warren Beatty would be in front of and behind the camera for a new untitled comedy set up at Paramount Pictures. At the time casting was said to be underway, but no names or story details were available. But yesterday, Deadline had a whole slew of big names that Beatty had been meeting with for the film and also uncovered that the project is in fact a film about legendary aviator Howard Hughes, though it's not exactly a biopic. Now EW has confirmed that Alec Baldwin, Shia LaBeouf and Rooney Mara are all in talks to co-star in the film which will have Beatty playing Hughes.

James McAvoy Taking Fassbender's Place in Danny Boyle's 'Trance'
Charles and Erik switching places. Damn, Variety is on a roll recently, and they scored another big casting scoop. Showblitz is reporting that Scottish actor James McAvoy (Atonement, Wanted, The Conspirator, X-Men: First Class) has been cast, or rather is now "in early discussions", as the lead in Danny Boyle's upcoming art heist thriller project Trance. Just last month we heard that Michael Fassbender had scored the lead, but they're saying he has since dropped out, "making room for his superhero rival." After seeing these two "friends" kick ass in X-Men, it's a bit sad that we don't get to see them together in another movie.

'Super 8' Star Joel Courtney Cast in 'Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn'
It's great to hear that one of the lead youngsters from J.J. Abrams' Super 8, 15-year-old Joel Courtney (who we interviewed), has started moving along in his acting career. Variety is reporting that Courtney has "entered negotiations" to join the cast of two independent movies, the first an adaptation of Mark Twain's classic adventures of Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn, the other a supernatural adventure called The Healer, from writer/director Giorgio Serafini (Game of Death). Jo Kastner is writing and directing the Sawyer/Finn film, in which Joel will play Tom Sawyer. That one will start shooting this August in Bulgaria.

Check These Out: Pixar Animation Style Characters for 'Ghostbusters'
There are some truly great graphic artists out there online who turn in work that rivals those of the professionals who get paid the big bucks. Evidence such another great talent has just manifested itself over at SlashFilm in the form of some great computer animated character designs for one of my favorite films of all-time: Ghostsbusters. The man behind the work in question is Fabrizio Fioretti who merely worked on these designs in his free time on evenings and weekends. These are truly breathtaking and make our proton-packing heroes look like they just came straight out of Pixar Animation Studios. See them below!

'Temple Grandin' Star Julia Ormond Playing Mother to 'Man of Steel'
Last week we found out that Gladiator and Robin Hood star Russell Crowe had landed the role of Jor-El for Zack Snyder's take on DC Comics' iconic superhero with Man of Steel. While we still don't know if he'll be as bloated as Marlon Brando was when he took the fatherly role in the 70's, today brings news of who will play Superman's mother in the anticipated franchise reboot. Deadline has word that Julia Ormond, who was most recently seen in the Emmy winning TV movie Temple Grandin and the Sundance selected The Music Never Stopped, has snagged the role of the Big Blue Boy Scout's Kryptonian mother Lara Lor-Van.

Now Showbiz 411 has word that veteran comic and actor Robin Williams is also looking to join the cast of Gently Down the Stream (which might end up being called The Wedding). The Bucket List writer Justin Zackham is directing the film which tells the story of a long-divorced couple who, for the sake of their adopted son's wedding and his biological mother, pretend they are still married. They quickly learn it's not easy, especially when their past, present and future unravel for all to see.
