Check This Out: Impressive New Official Poster for 'Contagion' Arrives
The World Goes Viral September 9. Wow, this is an awesome poster. We just noticed that Warner Bros debuted the official poster for Steven Soderbergh's Contagion, his ensemble virus thriller we just featured the trailer for last week. This was revealed via the Warner Bros twitter tonight and definitely makes up for the unimpressive blood cell imagery used originally. This is such a perfect bit of imagery for this movie and I love that they even went to such detail with the signatures and everything. Reminds me of the 28 Weeks Later Quarantine posters - but even better! This may be one of my favorites of the year. Check it out below!

First Look: Emile Hirsch Ducks for Cover in Sci-Fi 'The Darkest Hour'
The last time we got a look at the forthcoming sci-fi flick The Darkest Hour directed by Chris Gorak and produced by Timur Bekmambetov, it came in the form of an explosive comic poster from a full art book debuting later this year, with artistic interpretations of the film's vision of a world lost to an overwhelming and frightening alien force. Now we have a real first look at the film with Emile Hirsch hiding from the deadly alien force invading Moscow. It's not terribly exciting, but we should have some juicy details on the project after it takes stage at Comic-Con on Thursday this week. Otherwise, check out the first look below!

First Look: Logo-Only Teaser Poster for Marvel's 'The Avengers' Hits!
We're about to kick off Comic-Con down in San Diego this week and although some have said Avengers was going to be a no show this summer, we broke the news that they'd actually have quite a big presence. To start up the hype machine for The Avengers, Marvel has released the first official teaser poster and it's exactly what I expected we'd see - just a logo. Don't worry, we'll get a hell of a first glimpse when the teaser trailer hits, but in the meantime, this should hold us over and start some early buzz. The poster comes from the new official Avengers website (via ComingSoon), so check it out in full below! Everyone getting excited?

Proyas' 'Paradise Lost' with Bradley Cooper Will Be Motion Captured
Last September, it was revealed that The Crow and I, Robot director Alex Proyas would be at the helm of an adaptation of John Milton's epic 17th-century poem Paradise Lost, which follows the epic war in heaven between archangels Michael and Lucifer, including the latter's role in Adam and Eve's fall from grace. Then in May we learned Bradley Cooper would play Lucifer in the Legendary Pictures project (which we'll be covering at their first-ever stand-alone panel at Comic-Con this year). Now we have more details on the project from AusFilm (via The Playlist) who reveals that the film will be motion captured.

Interview: 'Captain America' Writers Chris Markus and Steve McFeely
Meet Chris Markus (L) and Steve McFeely (R), co-writers of the script for Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger, hitting theaters this weekend. If you haven't heard from either our glowing video blog reactions or any of the endless positive praise for the movie, these two deserve to be in the spotlight as they've written one of Marvel Studio's best movies. I had the opportunity to sit down an interview them for a full-on 20 minutes and we really get into Captain America, talking about all the decisions they made, inspirations, and everything else that went into crafting a kick ass—and my new favorite—superhero movie.

James McTeigue Set to Direct New Thriller 'Message from the King'
Though his last film Ninja Assassin may have had some killer action, director James McTeigue didn't exactly deliver a home run. Of course, I still have faith in the V for Vendetta helmer, and now have my sights set on his new project. Deadline reports FimNation Entertainment has set the filmmaker to direct Message from the King, a new thriller from Unknown writers Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell. The film follows Jacob King, an enigmatic outsider who comes to LA to investigate the sudden disappearance of his sister. Sounds pretty generic if you ask me, but at least the action in Unknown made for some decent fun.

First Odd Trailer for Jim Sheridan's 'Dream House' with Daniel Craig
"Some say that all houses have memories. For one man, his home is the place he would kill to forget." Is that the extended tagline? Universal has finally unveiled the first official trailer via Apple for Jim Sheridan's new suspense thriller Dream House, starring Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz as a couple that moves into a house that seems to be haunted, or stalked, or something like that. The trailer gives away quite a bit of the plot, but is still somewhat confusing, regarding multiple families and Craig's character. I can't say I'm particularly interested in seeing this, but you never know, it might be okay. Give it a shot and check this out.

Kevin Lima Boards DreamWorks Animation's 'Monkeys of Mumbai'
Towards the beginning of the year, we learned that Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours composer A.R. Rahman was working with Godspell and Wicked writer Stephen Schwartz for a DreamWorks Animated musical called Monkeys of Bollywood. The film was said to be set in Mumbai and follows two monkeys who try to stop an ancient demon from conquering the world. Well, now Heat Vision says Enchanted helmer Kevin Lima will now be sitting in the director's chair for the project which now has the working title Mumbai. Lima worked in animation before with Disney's Tarzan, so this is a bit of a homecoming for him.

Send Old School 'Cowboys & Aliens' Themed Telegrams via Snail Mail
Telegrams? Sent via snail mail? What a crazy concept! I'm only kidding, this is actually pretty damn cool. Universal has launched a new online campaign for Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens partnered with Telegram Stop, a website that is mailing out customized, Cowboys & Aliens themed telegrams with any message you want. They normally cost $6 to send, but Universal is covering the costs on this, and you can use the promo code CA2011 to get 5 free Cowboys & Aliens telegrams sent out. I think this is pretty damn cool, even though it'll take a few days to arrive in your mailbox (the real one on your street, not your inbox).

Must Watch: Incredible 'The Amazing Spider-Man' Trailer Hits Early!
"Do you have any idea what you really are?" This trailer is arriving online early, but this isn't a bootleg, a clean HD copy of it has already arrived online and there's not much to do at this point besides give you guys a glimpse because it is awesome. I was expecting Marc Webb to do great things, but this is better than I even imagined. The first official trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, has emerged on YouTube (via SlashFilm) and it will leave some of you with your jaw on the floor by the end. That sequence at the end is just incredible, I hope it's in the movie. Cannot wait to see more - enjoy!

Video Blog: Marvel's 'Captain America: The First Avenger' Kicks Ass
When it comes to superhero movies, Marvel Studios has been getting better and better ever since bringing us Iron Man in 2008. I've had the opportunity to see their latest cinematic origin story, Captain America: The First Avenger, the last solo movie before The Avengers, and it may be their best yet. I truly mean it, I loved it. It's an awesome movie, with great writing, great performances, a damn good story, and none of the setbacks that other Marvel films have. I had such a blast watching it (in 3D) and can't wait to watch it again. After the screening, Peter from SlashFilm and I recorded a quick video blog on our reactions to the movie.
