Marc Webb Discusses His New Take with 'The Amazing Spider-Man'

The Amazing Spider-Man / Marc Webb

Ever since 500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb got attached to direct Sony's reboot of Spider-Man back in early 2010, he hasn't been able to talk much at all about the project. But now that he's finished shooting and they're poised to make quite a splash at Comic-Con this weekend, he's finally able to speak and it's Hero Complex who has the first interview with Webb on all things The Amazing Spider-Man. He doesn't talk about the villains much, but does explain how he tried to differentiate this film from the others, as well as his biggest comic book inspirations for his Spider-Man, played this time by Andrew Garfield.

Worth Watching: First Trailer for Wong Kar Wai's 'The Grandmasters'

The Grandmasters

In Martial Arts there is no right or wrong, only the last man standing. Oh yes, Wong Kar Wai making a martial arts film? Bring it on. The Playlist has found the first official teaser trailer for Wong Kar Wai's The Grandmasters, his upcoming martial arts project about Ip Man, the legendary martial arts grand master who trained Bruce Lee, played in this film by Tony Leung Chiu Wai. Not that we haven't seen similar to this before, it's just beautiful fight choreography. Even at barely over a minute it's exhilarating to watch, I can't wait to see more. The cast also includes Zhang Ziyi somewhere in there. Martial arts fans need to catch this!

Watch: First Teaser Trailer for Chris Nolan's 'The Dark Knight Rises'!

The Dark Knight Rises Teaser Trailer

Every journey has an end... It's finally here, the first teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, the end of his epic Batman trilogy! This debuted in front of Deathly Hallows: Part 2 over the weekend, but Warner Bros waited to unveil it online until today via Facebook. As expected, it doesn't show much, but it is a great early tease for a movie that I know everyone is already ecstatic to watch, even though we've got a year to go and they're still shooting. Christian Bale returns as Bruce Wayne, with Gary Oldman as Gordon, plus Gotham newcomers Tom Hardy, Anne Hathway & Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

First Look Photo: Elle Fanning in Coppola's Weird New Horror 'Twixt'

Twixt

So Francis Ford Coppola is coming to Comic-Con to introduce his new film Twixt. But no one knows what it's about. Well, sort of. We know it's "one part Gothic romance, one part personal film, and one part the kind of horror film that began my career" that was inspired by "a vivid dream [Coppola] had while on a trip to Istanbul." But that doesn't really help, besides leave me more bewildered. One of the stars is Elle Fanning, who plays a character named V, and in this photo looks even odder than I expected. This brand new first look at Twixt comes from Entertainment Weekly. Though I still have no idea what this is about.

Universal Passes on Ambitious Film & TV Adaptation of 'Dark Tower'

The Dark Tower

Back in September of 2010, an ambitious film and television adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower series was confirmed to be set up at Universal with Ron Howard directing/producing alongside Imagine Entertainment partner Brian Grazer with a script from Akiva Goldsman. However, when Universal wanted to scale back the budget of the project, its future became uncertain and some script work was being done to make it a little bit cheaper so it could stay at the studio. Now Deadline reports Universal has officially passed on the project leaving Howard and co. to find a new home for the unprecedented project.

Joe Johnston Directing a Boba Fett Movie Just Might Save 'Star Wars'

Boba Fett

As we wait for Captain America: The First Avenger to hit theaters Friday (with lots of early screenings for Comic-Con audiences on Thursday), director Joe Johnston may have an even bigger project in mind. Since the filmmaker previously worked as a concept artist and effects technician on Star Wars and earned an Oscar nomination for Best Visual Effects on Raiders of the Lost Ark, the folks at ScreenRant asked if he had shown the film to George Lucas. Johnston's response sparks interest elsewhere, as he says, "You know if he wants to see it, I would show it to him. I’m trying to get George to make a feature based on Boba Fett."

Kevin Costner is Next to Join Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'

Kevin Costner

More big names for Quentin Tarantino's new spaghetti Western. Deadline is reporting that Oscar winning engineer/environmentalist/inventor and actor Kevin Costner has joined the cast of Tarantino's Django Unchained, which is already set to star Jamie Foxx as Django, as well as Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel Jackson and potentially Kerry Washington. Costner is currently "in negotiations" to play Ace Woody, the right-hand man of plantation/slave-owner Calvin Candie, DiCaprio's character. A bit odd to see Costner appearing as DiCaprio's henchman, but that's why I love Tarantino's unique casting for this movie.

'Captain America' Opening in San Diego on Thursday for Comic-Con

Captain America

Every once in a while I see incredibly smart decisions that really show that some studios do care about fans. This is one of those times. Marvel/Paramount have announced that they'll be releasing Captain America: The First Avenger early, on Thursday, in San Diego only, giving the Comic-Con attendees a chance to see it before the weekend rolls in (and they camp out in Hall H all day for Spider-Man footage). The film will be playing exclusively in downtown San Diego at the UA Horton Plaza with showtimes all day starting at 12-Noon until 11:45PM. I'm pretty sure The Avengers teaser will play at the end of the credits all day, too.

Check This Out: First Eerie Poster for Michael Shannon's 'Take Shelter'

Take Shelter

Time for a break from all the superheroes for a bit of Michael Shannon. Our friends at Movieline have debuted the first official poster for Jeff Nichols' Take Shelter, the indie drama starring Michael Shannon and Tree of Life's Jessica Chastain about a small town family dealing with an impending apocalypse. It's a bit hard to describe (just go see it). This poster has a perfectly eerie feeling to it that captures the film's tone, even though the birds aren't a big part (they are important). It's a great indie poster design, eye-catching yet still inspired by the film itself. I hope this gets a few more people interested in seeing (trailer here) this film!

Mondo's New Set of Tyler Stout & Eric Tan 'Captain America' Posters

Captain America

Avenge! It's going to be an exciting week with Comic-Con just on the horizon, but don't forget that Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger hits theaters everywhere right in the middle of the madness this weekend. To spice things up, Mondo is coming to Comic-Con with a booth this year (#433) and they're also debuting/selling a series of prints made for Captain America. Four of the five posters are Hydra propaganda posters, like this one by Olly Moss, one was made by Tyler Stout (via SlashFilm) also seen below. These aren't so much propaganda as they are just badass posters for an awesome superhero movie, and I love 'em!

New Take on 'Beauty and the Beast' is Developing with Emma Watson

Emma Watson

Currently the filmmaker is busy prepping his big budget sci-fi venture Pacific Rim, but Guillermo del Toro is always busy with a plethora of other projects in development, and one more has just surfaced. ComingSoon recently spoke to Denise Di Novi, producer of Crazy, Stupid, Love, and she revealed that she's been working with del Toro on developing a new adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. Even more intriguing is that this new take on the classic take would have Harry Potter franchise star Emma Watson (who plays Hermione Granger in the box office record breaking series) stepping up to star in the project.
