John Cusack and Nicolas Cage Cast in Alaskan Drama 'Frozen Ground'

Nicolas Cage & John Cusack

The last time we saw these two together was in Con Air, though an ideal team-up would be Cage and John Malkovich, but Cusack will do. Deadline is reporting that Nicolas Cage and John Cusack have both been cast in a film called The Frozen Ground, the directorial debut of Scott Walker, who also wrote the script. The project is based on true events surrounding Alaska's most notorious serial predator, Robert Hansen, who Cusack is in talks to play. Hansen was a "respected family man" who for over 12 years abducted more than 24 women and flew them into the Alaskan wilderness to be hunted. Sounds intense for just a "drama".

George Clooney's 'The Ides of March' First Poster with Ryan Gosling

The Ides of March

One of my most anticipated movies of the fall is George Clooney's adaptation of the stage play The Ides of March, a political drama starring Clooney as a Democratic candidate. Ryan Gosling plays his up-and-coming press secretary and the film takes place during the frantic last days before a heavily contested Ohio presidential primary. The film was just announced for the Toronto Film Festival, but in addition to that, ET Online has debuted the first official poster and it's fantastic. I'm not sure why they cut this as a wide banner, but I love it anyway, it just wouldn't have the same impact without the blurry duplicate sides. Check it out!

Watch: First Official Trailer for Peter Berg's Cheesy 'Battleship' Movie

Battleship Trailer

Universal has finally unveiled the first teaser trailer via the official website for Battleship, their big action movie set on the open water, based on the board game, arriving next summer. The cast for this includes a lot of attractive people, as apparently that's all they need to sell this: Alexander Skarsgard, Taylor Kitsch, Josh Pence, Brooklyn Decker and Rihanna, oh and Liam Neeson too if you think he's a good looking Admiral. This basically looks like Transformers 3 meets Pearl Harbor, but without Michael Bay behind it. Tell me why did this even get made, again? It already looks like it's going to be a huge waste of time. Enjoy!

Emma Stone Aiming to Join Ruben Fleischer's 'Gangster Squad' Movie

Emma Stone

Some quick casting news to kick off the day. Variety is reporting with confirmation from THR that director Ruben Fleischer is looking to pull actress Emma Stone into his next film, Gangster Squad over at Warner Bros. She also starred in Fleischer's first film, Zombieland, but this project is going to be Fleischer's big leap into non-comedic Hollywood. Stone is in negotiations for the lead role of Jean, a sharp-tongued siren caught in a love triangle with Ryan Gosling's character and Sean Penn, who plays mobster Mickey Cohen. The true story chronicles the LAPD's efforts to keep East Coast crime bosses out of '40s Los Angeles.

Watch: First Trailer for Ensemble Romantic Comedy 'New Year's Eve'

New Year's Eve Trailer

"Who are you gunna kiss at midnight?" New Line has debuted the first trailer via MSN for the ensemble romantic comedy New Year's Eve, their follow-up to Valentine's Day. It focuses on Ashton Kutcher and Lea Michele, but stars just about everyone else you can think of: Josh Duhamel, Carla Gugino, Zac Efron, Abigail Breslin, Jessica Biel, Robert De Niro, Katherine Heigl, Sofía Vergara, Alyssa Milano, Hilary Swank, Halle Berry, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sara Paxton, Sienna Miller and of course, Sarah Jessica Parker. As always, they make these films look fun and sweet, but I know it's not my cup o' tea. Watch below if you're interested.

Watch: Second Full Trailer for Warner Bros' 'Happy Feet Two' Arrives

Happy Feet Two Trailer

"A penguin who can fly!" Warner Bros has debuted the second full trailer for the animated Happy Feet Two, their sequel to the animated musical created by Animal Logic back in 2006. We got a teaser trailer for this back in May, and sadly this full trailer looks even worse than that did. The cast isn't too exciting: Elijah Wood returns as Mumble and Robin Williams is back as Ramon, along with Pink, Elizabeth Daily, Sofía Vergara, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Hank Azaria. I was never a fan of this series anyway, but they've taken it too far with the music, I just can't stand it. But that's just me, I'm sure others might enjoy this! Have fun.

Robert Zemeckis in Talks for Legendary's 'Here There Be Monsters'

Sea Monsters

Even more projects for Robert Zemeckis, but what will he actually direct? Who knows. The Wrap is now claiming that Zemeckis is in talks to direct an action film called Here There Be Monsters for Legendary Pictures & Warner Bros. The concept is from Legendary's Thomas Tull and revolves around Revolutionary War naval hero John Paul Jones, who battles sea monsters in this fictional account. They've also drafted writer Brian Helgeland (Cirque du Freak, Green Zone, Robin Hood, Cleopatra) to actually put together a script, with Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni, plus Mandeville's Todd Lieberman & David Hoberman, producing.

First Look: Rachel Weisz & Tom Hiddleston from 'The Deep Blue Sea'

The Deep Blue Sea First Look

One of my favorite actors at the moment is Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki in Thor (and The Avengers), also appeared in Midnight in Paris as F. Scott Fitzgerald, and will be in Steven Spielberg's War Horse, too. Hiddleston also stars in an upcoming indie romantic-drama titled The Deep Blue Sea which will be premiering at the Toronto Film Festival this fall, as was just announced. Rachel Weisz also stars in the period drama as the wife of a British Judge who gets caught up in a self-destructive love affair with a Royal Air Force pilot (Hiddleston) in the 1950s. TIFF.net has a batch of five first look photos as can be seen below.

Watch: First Full Trailer for Cameron Crowe's 'Pearl Jam Twenty' Doc

Pearl Jam Twenty Documentary Trailer

This is a trailer many of you have been waiting for - Cameron Crowe's Pearl Jam Twenty documentary! The film traces the 20-year history of Pearl Jam, packed with rare footage and new interviews. This brand new trailer comes straight from the official Pearl Jam Vimeo (via Vulture) and includes all kinds of stellar footage, like a wacky David Lynch interview, lots of old concerts and much more. It just looks like a great rock doc, thanks of course to Crowe. Pearl Jam Twenty is the definitive portrait of Pearl Jam: part concert film, part intimate insider-hang, and part testimonial to the power of music and uncompromising artists.

First Look: Fassbender & Mulligan Star in Steve McQueen's 'Shame'

Shame First Look

Many cinephiles considered British filmmaker Steve McQueen's 2008 debut film Hunger to be one of the best of that year, so I'm sure a few of you will be excited to talk a look at McQueen's new film called Shame. Thanks yet again to TIFF.net, as Shame is one of the film's in the upcoming Toronto Film Festival, we have five new photos from the sex-driven New York City drama. Michael Fassbender (also from Hunger) stars as Brandon, a man living in New York who is unable to manage his wild sex life. After his self-destructive younger sister (Carey Mulligan) moves into his apartment, his entire world starts to spiral out of control.

Official Trailer for Josh Hartnett's Wacky Martial Arts Indie 'Bunraku'

Bunraku Trailer

"Honorable men... they die hard, but they still die." Give this a shot if something about it interests you, but let me warn you, it's not that good. AICN (via FSR) recently debuted the release trailer for Guy Moshe's Bunraku, a stylized, martial arts, revenge movie starring Josh Hartnett, Woody Harrelson, Gackt, Ron Perlman, Demi Moore and Kevin McKidd. I saw this flick at the Toronto Film Fest last year and can tell you it's just plain awful, as is the general consensus. It's way too long, totally too wacky, and just not that good, but the fights are fun at least. Check out this trailer, but I don't suggest actually seeing the film.

Mimi Leder to Direct New 'All Quiet on the Western Front' Adaptation

Mimi Leder / All Quiet on the Western Front

She's been away from big screen for a while, but now director Mimi Leder (The Peacemaker, Deep Impact, The Code, U.S. Attorney) is making her return. Deadline reports Leder has signed on to direct All Quiet on the Western Front, an adaptation of Enrique Remarque's WWI trench warfare novel. It was adapted once before in 1930 and won Best Picture, but they're taking another crack at it. The script was written by Ian Stokell and Lesley Paterson. If all goes as planned, production will start in late 2012, likely in Europe, depending on financing. "We need a battlefield and an old village so we'll go where the financing takes us."
