First Look: Gerard Butler as Sam Childers from 'Machine Gun Preacher'

Gerard Butler

Where has Gerard Butler been hiding? Oh right, in terrible romantic comedies. Besides Ralph Fiennes' Shakespeare flick Coriolanus coming up, Butler also stars in a drama called Machine Gun Preacher, which chronicles the real-life story of Sam Childers (as pictured above left), a former drug-dealing biker 'tough guy' who found God and became the scourge of rebel forces who kidnap Sudanese children in Africa. Its been a while since we heard about the film, since it already finished shooting earlier this year, but thanks to USA Today we have a first look at Butler playing Childers and it's not too much, but it is a good first look.

First Look: Lame Concept Art for Lucifer in Alex Proyas 'Paradise Lost'

Lucifer Concept Art Eyes

I'd love to say 'meet the new Lucifer' but this is hardly more than a look at his eyes, so that doesn't really work this time. Legendary.com (via ComingSoon) has unveiled the first concept art image of Lucifer, to be played by Bradley Cooper, in Alex Proyas' upcoming project Paradise Lost, based on John Milton's epic poem. I'm not sure why, of all things, they decided simply to reveal his dark eyes and some weird wispy Photoshopped imagery on top, but suffice it to say, the best word for this art is none other than lame. Legendary's Comic-Con plans seem to have been way overhyped this year, and this is one example of that.

Bob Stencil at Comic-Con 2011: 'Bucky Larson' & Playboy Party Video

Bob Stencil - Playboy Party

What would happen if Bob $tencil got into a Playboy party? Who would he hook up with? We're about to find out. Late on Friday night during Comic-Con 2011, a massive outdoor party was held for NBC's The Playboy Club and Columbia Picture's upcoming comedy Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star starring Nick Swardson. Bob struggles with a recent breakup while drinking and schmoozing at the Playboy Party, but finds more than enough friendly bunnies to help him forget about Sandra and enjoy the evening. There's lots of heavy drinking in this, so this is your warning - it's going be downright hilarious to see. Watch below!

Review: 'Captain America: The First Avenger' is the Best Avenger Yet

Captain America: The First Avenger Review

Captain America: The First Avenger, the final stop on the road to next summer's The Avengers movie, is the best Avengers movie yet. A slick and stylish period piece, it takes us back to the World War II era of steam and metal with explosive results, a solidly told story of one man's physical rise to the greatness found within him, and the beginning of what is sure to be a blockbuster comic book franchise. Directed by Joe Johnston, the film has a look, story, and character all its own but never feels out of sorts with the other pre-Avengers films. In essence, it is the perfect lead-in, the ideal set-up for bringing this character into

Must Watch: Incredible Final Trailer for 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes'

Rise of the Planet of the Apes Trailer

Apes Will Rise! I've heard many people still saying they're not that interested in Rise of the Planet of the Apes yet, but it's time to change that. At Comic-Con on Thursday, the final trailer they showed during the Fox panel was a look at a montage of scenes from the final tumultuous third act (spoilers beware), and it's absolutely incredible. Fox has now released the trailer on YouTube. This right here is exactly why I'm insanely excited for this movie, it has so many incredible, jaw-dropping shots and impeccable Weta CGI, and it doesn't spoil too much. I highly suggest watching this, you may finally be as excited for this as I am.

First Look: Hulk in 'The Avengers' Unveiled on Final Concept Art Poster

Hulk in The Avengers

While many have seen the teaser trailer for Marvel's The Avengers at the end of the credits of Captain America this weekend, the Hulk was nowhere to be found. However, it's time to change that, as Marvel has unveiled it's last collectible poster of Comic-Con 2011 to reveal a full-on concept art poster collecting all six of the Avengers together in what looks to be their first group photo. It's a fantastic reveal and is indeed our first look at Mark Ruffalo's Hulk in Avengers, plus an early look at what we can expect (look for the Helicarrier the background). Such an awesome concept art tease! Click on either image for higher res below.

Must Watch: Badass Trailer for LARP Comedy 'Knights of Badassdom'

Knights of Badassdom

"Thou has been recruited to fight at the epic battle!" One of our favorite Comic-Con panels yesterday was for an upcoming indie comedy called Knights of Badassdom about a group of LARPers (Live Action Role Players) who inadvertently summon a deadly succubus during the middle of a big fantasy battle and must fight her for real. The cast includes Ryan Kwanten, Game of Thrones' Peter Dinklage, Summer Glau, Steve Zahn, Community's Danny Pudi and Margarita Levieva. Even if you think LARPing is lame, I'm sure you'll think this looks awesome, it just looks funny as hell and entertaining as—well—hell, too. Enjoy!

First Look: Character Costume Design in 'Snow White & the Huntsman'

Snow White and the Huntsman

Time to meet the other big screen Snow White. Another presentation at Comic-Con was for Universal's very early presentation for Snow White and the Huntsman - early because, well, they haven't shot a single frame (starts in the next few weeks), yet brought up the entire cast to talk about it. They showed us an early glimpse at concept art and character designs for this version that made me think Lord of the Rings meets Tim Burton. Instead of having to continue to describe this myself, they've released all the character shots of Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron and Sam Claflin officially - view them below!

Bob Stencil at Comic-Con 2011: First Thursday & Friday Recap Video

Bob Stencil

Bob $tencil is back with his second official video of Comic-Con 2011, with a recap of his showfloor and Hall H experiences on Thursday and Friday. True to form, Stencil bumps into weirdos, celebrities, costumed superheroes, and some booth babes. As many may have heard from the rumors coming from inside Hall H, Bob made quite a show asking a question to John Cusack, and if you want to see what it is all about, this is the video to watch. We posted his first Wednesday night Twilight preview video earlier this week, and he's got a Playboy party recap coming tonight (don't miss that one). For now, enjoy his Thursday/Friday recap!

Comic-Con 2011: 'Knights of Badassdom' Wields Action and Laughs

Knights of Badassdom

Though the comedy Role Models dabbled in the world of live-action role playing (or LARPing), a new comedic action adventure invaded Comic-Con this year that puts these medieval pretenders front and center in a bloody, heavy metal driven romp. The appropriately titled Knights of Badassdom crashed into Hall H this weekend, and while we haven't heard much about this film, the unveiling of the first trailer and a clip from the film proves our waiting will not be in vain. With a cast that includes Peter Dinklage, Ryan Kwanten and Summer Glau, this is one of those comedies that geeks will love, but everyone will enjoy.

Comic-Con Video Blog: 'The Amazing Spider-Man' Footage Astounds

The Amazing Spider-Man

Our friendly neighborhood Spidey is returning to theaters next year, but will it be any good? Yesterday the most highly anticipated panel of the day was for Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man, directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. It was only a few days ago that we finally got the first teaser trailer, but they showed a new block of never-before-seen footage and revealed our first look at Rhys Ifans as the villain The Lizard. Following the panel, our own die-hard Spider-Man fan Brandon and blogger Ethan recorded a video blog talking about how all of the new footage impressed and amazed them.

Check This Out: Daniel Danger's Fantastic 'Cowboys & Aliens' Poster

Cowboys & Aliens

We're now just a few hours away from the world premiere of Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens, starring Daniel Craig as Jake Lonergan, down in San Diego at Comic-Con, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it fares. In the meantime, as one final tease, Ain't It Cool News debuted one more Mondo poster (that they're selling here) for the movie designed by Daniel Danger - view his website. We've already seen one great custom poster for this, designed by Janée Meadows, but this is another fantastically unique design that I just love. I love the dark blue hue and the imagery, I really hope this flick is as good as I'm expecting it to be.
