'The Muppets' Take Aim at 'Captain America' with Great New Poster

FILL

Before the real trailer for The Muppets was released, everyone's favorite puppets parodied the DC Comics superhero Green Lantern with a fake trailer for the forthcoming November return of Jim Henson's most iconic characters. Now the Disney production has shifted the fun to Marvel with this awesome new poster featuring Sam the Eagle suited up as Captain America, just in time for this weekend's release of Captain America: The First Avenger (make sure you see it, because the film is absolutely fantastic). Honestly, all of the marketing for The Muppets has been just spectacular, and this poster is no exception. See it below!

Clint Mansell Composing the Score for Meryl Streep's 'The Iron Lady'

Clint Mansell

For those of you who didn't notice, when the first trailer for the Margaret Thatcher film The Iron Lady starring Meryl Streep debuted, the fantastic sounds of the score from Duncan Jones' stunning film Moon could be heard throughout. Well, it turns out it wasn't just a fantastic music choice by the editor of the trailer. In Contention (via The Playlist) has learned that the indie sci-fi film's composer Clint Mansell will also be providing his score talents to director Phyllida Lloyd's (Mamma Mia!) historical film which follows the British Prime Minster as she tries to save her career in the 17 days before the 1982 Falklands War.

Robert Rodriguez Apparently Has the Rights to Remake 'Heavy Metal'

Heavy Metal

Back in March of 2010, we heard that David Fincher's gestating update of the animated anthology feature Heavy Metal had some big names contributing to the film with James Cameron and Zack Snyder directing segments and Guillermo del Toro and Gore Verbinski in talks to take on their own installments of the film. At the time TMNT co-creator and Heavy Metal magazine publisher Kevin Eastman was not confirmed to be involved in the project, but during Robert Rodriguez's panel for his new Quick Draw Productions banner, the film was confirmed to be the first of the filmmaker's new action-oriented production company.

New Teaser Poster for Steven Soderbergh's 'Haywire' with Gina Carano

Haywire

A few of you may remember we featured a set of stylish, artistic posters for Steven Soderbergh's action flick Haywire back in May, but had to pull them down. We finally have the first official teaser poster and it's definitely artistic, but not as good as the others. This is apparently just a Comic-Con-specific teaser poster in connection with their big presentation later today. Gina Carano stars in the movie as a "black ops super soldier" and she's going to kick some serious ass. Early word on the Haywire action is great, just look at Edgar Wright's tweet: "[Saw] an extended fight scene from Haywire... I'll call it. Best Fight Scene of 2012."

Comic-Con Video Blog: First Footage from 'Prometheus' is Impressive

Prometheus Video Blog

In Hall H, Everyone Can Hear You Scream! Just a few hours ago, we were lucky enough to be in Hall H at Comic-Con 2011 for the very first premiere of any footage from Ridley Scott's new sci-fi Prometheus, which he is still currently shooting. It was an exciting reveal as everyone has been holding their breath to see if this is really going to be as great as his classics like Alien and Blade Runner, and our first impression from this glimpse is that he definitely has. I recorded a quick video blog with Golden Briefcase's Tim Buel right after the panel discussing our reactions to the footage they showed. Suffice it to say, we're both very excited.

Must Watch: Awesome Red Band Trailer for 'Drive' with Ryan Gosling

Drive Trailer

"What do you do?" "I drive." Here it is, the trailer everyone must watch for one of the year's best films. IGN has posted the first official red band trailer for the new Ryan Gosling film Drive, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (of Pusher, Bronson), that also stars Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Ron Perlman, Oscar Isaac, Christina Hendricks and Albert Brooks. If you recall, this was my favorite film of the Cannes Film Festival (read my glowing review) and will definitely be one of my favorites of the year. It's just awesome and I'm so glad we finally have a trailer to show everyone how great this is. Stop and check it out!

Watch: First 4 Minute Sizzle Reel for Andrew Niccol's 'In Time' Thriller

In Time Trailer

We've been waiting to finally see something—posters, photos—from the new thriller by Andrew Niccol (Gattaca, Lord of War) that's now officially titled In Time, formerly known as Now. The semi-sci-fi thriller stars Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried and is set in a future where no one can live past the age of 25. Everyone has digital clocks on the arms and must purchase/steal/acquire "time" to keep on living and use as currency. The introductory four-minute sizzle reel of footage that they debuted at the Fox panel at Comic-Con today has hit the web via IGN. It looks good, but honestly seems a bit generic. I hope I'm wrong!

Great Minimalistic Poster for 'Moneyball' is One of the Best of the Year

Moneyball

What are you really worth? I love this poster, totally love it. This is a week for posters, we've been seeing a lot of them, and they seem to be some of the best of the year (find all of our poster debuts here). Columbia Pictures has released the first official poster (found via RopeofSilicon) for Bennett Miller's Moneyball, the baseball drama starring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and Philip Seymour Hoffman. We've already seen the first trailer and even posted a TV spot recently, so we know what this is about and how good it looks, but this is the cherry on top that really does it for me. Such a minimalistic but completely fantastic poster. See it below!

First New Poster for James McTeigue's 'The Raven' Spills Onto the Web

The Raven

A gorgeous new poster for James McTeigue's new thriller The Raven has just hit the web in anticipation of their upcoming panel for the film on Friday at Comic-Con. We've seen a first look photo of John Cusack, who stars as Edgar Allen Poe in this, but this is a fantastic first poster and great early look at some of the imagery/atmosphere we might get with this. The Playlist was the place we first found this poster, and it's something you must see, even though it doesn't have too much (and Cusack isn't even on it). But I still love the imagery and the design, it's a great poster for a movie I'm already excited for. Hope we see a trailer soon!

Robert Rodriguez

Another panel at Comic-Con that has no info released early, but is teasing some big surprises. We're covering Robert Rodriguez's new Comic-Con 2011 panel, this year in Hall H, titled simply Quick Draw Productions, which is his new "action-oriented" production company. The description for the panel says: "Be the first to get a sneak peek at Robert Rodriguez's upcoming films. Robert presents Quick Draw's new slate featuring special guest collaborators. He will also show exclusive material from his latest top-secret project." We've heard rumors there might be a Sin City 2 announcement, but no guarantees. Follow below!

Comic-Con 2011 Live: Coverage of 20th Century Fox Big Hall H Panel

20th Century Fox

It's about time to kick off the first big live blog of Comic-Con 2011, the 20th Century Fox panel in Hall H. The schedule has never been update to say more than: "You won't want to miss the excitement this year, as Fox presents first-looks at some of its most-anticipated pictures of 2011 and 2012." But we're predicting Ridley Scott's Prometheus is going to be the big one this time (we just posted a first look photo), as well as appearances for Rupert Wyatt's Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Andrew Niccol's In Time, plus potentially some surprises, hopefully. We'll be updating live with quotes, info and more, so follow it below!
