Luke Wilson, Ryan Phillippe & Anna Paquin All Earning 'Straight A's'
In an announcement that comes out of nowhere, Variety is reporting that indie film production company Nu Image/Millennium Films has quietly assembled a new comedy called Straight A's that started production today. In a film that will likely end up on the festival circuit next year, Ryan Phillippe stars as a man who's been in and out of rehab for 10 years and is haunted by the ghost of his dead mother pressing him to return home to the family he turned his back. Outfitted with only a bag of pills and a sack of weed, he returnsĀ to Shreveport, only to deal with his brother's wife, who's still pining for him, her first love.

Fantastic 'Man of Steel' & 'Dark Knight Rises' Fan Art Poster Diptych
We've featured plenty of fantastic fan art and posters before, but what I came across today is particularly awesome because it pertains to two highly anticipated upcoming DC Comics projects - Zack Snyder's Man of Steel and Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. As we know, Chris Nolan is actually the link between the two, serving as producer on Man of Steel. Artist Al Pennyworth on deviantArt (via FYMP Tumblr) created two posters that hint at that link as side-by-side they form a spectacular diptych, one for Metropolis in Man of Steel, one for Gotham in The Dark Knight Rises. I just love this, check it out below!

Watch: TIFF Trailer for Tanya Wexler's 'Hysteria' with Hugh Dancy
"Must be difficult pleasuring half the women in the city." Despite that rather dainty photo, this flick is about the origins of the vibrator. It actually looks pretty good, too. Another new trailer for a recently announced TIFF film - Tanya Wexler's Hysteria, starring Hugh Dancy and Maggie Gyllenhaal, a cheeky romantic comedy set in Victorian London about the invention of the world's first vibrator. Also stars Jonathan Pryce, Rupert Everett, Gemma Jones and Felicity Jones, who is barely in the trailer at all. This actually looks fun, I think that's the best way to describe it. Just fire up the trailer below, you'll see exactly what I mean. Enjoy!

Watch: TIFF Trailer for UK Spy Drama 'Page Eight' with Rachel Weisz
"I want to share a source." With the big TIFF announcement this morning, a number of a new trailers for Toronto Film Fest-bound films are hitting the web. One of them I want to feature is for David Hare's contemporary spy film made for the BBC called Page Eight, starring Rachel Weisz and Bill Nighy. I didn't even know this existed, but it doesn't look half bad. Awards Daily had a longer trailer, but it was removed, then TIFF put up their own shorter promo trailer, but it's a good first look anyway, so check it out. The cast also includes Michael Gambon, Ralph Fiennes, Felicity Jones, Judy Davis and Ewen Bremner, too.

How Did Marty and Doc Become Friends Before 'Back to the Future'?
Watching the film hundreds of times throughout my life, I've been one of those viewers who's come to wonder about an unknown detail concerning our two protagonists in the Back to the Future trilogy. Obviously Dr. Emmett L. Brown and Marty McFly are good friends when we begin our story, but it's never really explained how a young, awkward and somewhat rebellious high school kid hooked up with a wacky, scientist which many find to be nothing more than a crackpot around town. Thankfully co-writer Bob Gale noticed this question at Mental Floss and came through with info on Marty and Doc's friendship.

Steve McQueen to Have Chiwetel Ejiofor Spend 'Twelve Years a Slave'
While the forthcoming spaghetti western Django Unchained from Quentin Tarantino will deal with the despicable slavery of the past in fictional form, a new film from Brad Pitt's Plan B production company will also delve into slavery by way of an adaptation of Twelve Years a Slave, an Solomon Northup's 1853 autobiography. Solomon was a free black man who found himself kidnapped and turned into a slave for twelve, long, grueling years under numerous owners. THR says Salt and Inside Man star Chiwetel Ejiofor will star as Northrup, while Hunger co-writer and director Steve McQueen will be directing. More below!

New Photo from 'The Rum Diary' with Johnny Depp and Amber Heard
We've already seen a couple first look photos of Johnny Depp, but since they debuted last summer, we've yet to see much more from the adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's novel The Rum Diary, his very first book as a matter of fact. With the film slated to hit theaters in limited release on October 28th, it's surprising that we've yet to see a trailer for the film, and that may not be a good sign, even with a name like Depp involved. While I'm still hoping for a trailer soon, in the meantime GK Films (via ComingSoon) released a new photo of Depp playing journalist Paul Kemp and Amber Heard as Chenault. See it below!

New 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' Posters Put Firth and Hardy in Code
Aside from the tense first trailer and impressive second trailer from the United Kingdom, the promotion of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy has a very sleek vibe with the two coded posters that have been released featuring Gary Oldman. However, two new posters have surfaced taking the same coded, mosaic-style design and applying it to two more of the film's stars: Colin Firth and Tom Hardy. At first the posters are a bit confusing with Gary Oldman's name front and center under each photo, but if you look carefully in the code, you'll see the featured actor's name in red within the jumble of numbers and letters. See them below!

'Logan's Run' Success May Get Nicolas Winding Refn 'Wonder Woman'
Back in June of 2010, director Nicolas Winding Refn surprisingly mentioned his genuine desire to direct a feature film adaptation of DC Comics female superhero Wonder Woman. At the time, Refn said, "Well, I would say that Wonder Woman is probably something that, to me, would be not just a satisfaction, but almost a [catharsis], and I was born to make it." There hasn't been any real development on that front at all (as far as we know at least), but with Drive seemingly getting more attention than his previous films, and a high profile remake of Logan's Run on the way, it sounds like there's a chance it could happen. Read on!

More Gala, Visionary & World Cinema Films Announced for TIFF 2011
Something for everyone as love stories, psychological chillers, political thrillers, comedies and more join the festival's line-up. The Toronto International Film Festival has announced another huge batch of titles for TIFF 2011 this year, putting their total well over 100. While there was plenty in the original line-ups announced, there's even more in these selections of films that I'm very excited to see this year, including Nacho Vigalondo's new sci-fi film Extraterrestrial, which we've teased before (though I'm surprised it's not a Midnight Madness film). You can check out a full list of the latest TIFF films announced just below.

First Look: Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock from 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation'
Just last night "Justified" and Cowboys & Aliens star Walton Goggins joined the cast of G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation, and that comes after last week's cool announcement of Bruce Willis being in talks to play the original G.I. Joe in next summer's action figure sequel. Well, now we have our first look at another of the new cast members from the flick as Dwayne Johnson posted a picture of himself as Roadblock from the set on his own Twitter page. Johnson said: "1st day of shooting. 110 degrees. Bring it." This looks like it could just as easily be from Fast Five, but Johnson still looks like he's ready to kick some ass. Photo below!

Watch: Third Trailer for Tarsem Singh's 'Immortals' with Henry Cavill
"I have faith in you... Prove. Me. Right." Relativity has released a third official full-length trailer for Tarsem Singh's Immortals, his new stylized Greek gods epic starring Henry Cavill as Theseus. We've seen many trailers, lots of footage, posters and so much more from Immortals already, but this time they're trying to actually show that the story and characters are just as interesting as the visuals. The cast includes Mickey Rourke as King Hyperion, Luke Evans, Freida Pinto, Kellan Lutz, Isabel Lucas, Stephen Dorff and John Hurt. I still think this looks awesome based on the the visuals alone. Check out the trailer below!
