Simple, But Nostalgic, Teaser Poster for 'American Reunion' Surfaces

American Reunion

Back in June we got our first look at a scene from the sequel American Reunion which flashed back to a scene from the very first American Pie back in 1999. Now we have another official tease in the form of a nostalgic poster that also calls back to the original film and a certain encounter with baked good. It's amazing and a little strange to think that the image of a penetrated pie can now evoke fond memories of the raunchy sex comedy, and likely a time when some teenage viewers had to sneak behind their parents back to even watch the film. Honestly I can't wait for this reunion next year. Check out the full poster below!

Kevin Smith Says 'Hit Somebody' Becoming a Two-Part Hockey Saga

Kevin Smith

While the filmmaker has been touting that his big screen adaptation of Warren Zevon's hockey song Hit Somebody would be his last film as a director, it turns out that isn't technically true. Hour Community posted a story (via SlashFilm), which Kevin Smith confirmed with a retweet on Twitter, that reveals the hockey film will actually be a story split into two films like Kill Bill. During a Q&A at a Canadian screenings of Red State, Smith said the first film will follow the main character Buddy as he grows up in Canada and learns to play hockey while the second half will chronicle his life as a professional hockey player.

Time Out NY's Fifty 'Most Special Effects' of All-Time List of Movies

50 Most Special Effects in Films List

Now this is quite an intriguing list. Time Out NY recently published (via RopeofSilicon) what they dubbed the "50 most special effects of all time," which, I think, just means they've ranked the 50 movies that had the best special effects. Their only description is that it's a ranking of "the most awe-inducing moments of our dreams and nightmares." Okay, bring it on. These include all special effects, not just visual effects, so that means it has everything from King Kong to Them! to 2001: A Space Odyssey to Matrix and everything inbetween. As I said, it's quite a list, so check out the article. We've posted the full list below for discussion.

Must Watch: 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' Official UK Trailer Lands

We Need to Talk About Kevin Trailer

"Just because you're used to something doesn't mean you like it." Finally, a good trailer for a movie that's going to get a lot of awards season acclaim. The Guardian (via The Film Stage) has debuted the official UK trailer for Lynne Ramsay's We Need to Talk About Kevin, the indie drama starring Tilda Swinton, John C. Reilly and Ezra Miller. If you haven't heard about this yet, just dive in anyway, this film is so vivid and oddly dark that it's hard to explain. It's adapted from Lionel Shriver's novel about the mother of a very disturbed teen, that's about easiest to explain. It's hard to tell, but she uses red as a motif. Take a look!

Billy Crystal Talks Up Pixar's 'Monsters University' Being 'Hilarious'

Billy Crystal / Mike Wazowski

Mike & Sulley are back! Pixar is already in production on Monsters University, a prequel to Monsters Inc, being directed by Dan Scanlon. The lovable duo of Mike Wazowski and James P. 'Sulley' Sullivan are back at the University of Fear, as it tells the story of how they became scarers, and friends, in college. Billy Crystal, who voices Mike, was at a Q&A for a Hero Complex screening of City Slickers recently and spoke briefly about the movie, saying encouraging things - for anyone that's worried. But there's nothing to worried about, this will turn out amazing, right? "It's really a great script, it's really funny." More below!

Check This Out: Colorful New French Poster for Polanski's 'Carnage'

John C. Reilly & Kate Winslet in Carnage

Presenting Le Dieu du Carnage, in all its colorful forms. When I first pointed out this poster for Roman Polanski's comedy Carnage, short for God of Carnage, on twitter, the responses included that it was "an acquired taste", even though I thought it was unique and quite wonderful. It comes from IMPAwards and is a French poster for Carnage, starring John C. Reilly, Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet & Christoph Waltz, all colorfully featured in an Andy Warhol-like presentation. We've featured some photos for this recently. I also have a knack for credit blocks as borders, and it really makes this one stand out as a whole. See below!

Disney Stops Production on Verbinski's 'The Lone Ranger' with Depp

The Lone Ranger Cancelled

Hi-yo, Disney? Big news as Deadline reports Disney has shut down production on Gore Verbinski's The Lone Ranger, the period western set to star Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as the Ranger. The report says the budget was getting out of hand, pushing upwards of $250 million, though Disney didn't want to go above $200M. I'm guessing the lackluster performance of Cowboys & Aliens didn't help either. This is a very interesting development in the future of Disney, as the project was announced years ago with Bruckheimer producing, and was finally casting and gearing to shoot, but there's a chance it could survive.

Sound Off: Steven Quale's 'Final Destination 5' - What Did You Think?

Final Destination 5 Sound Off

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? You Can't Cheat Death. Haven't we all learned that by now? New Line's franchise that just won't die is back again with Final Destination 5, in 3D, directed this time by Cameron trainee Steven Quale from a script by Eric Heisserer. The cast includes Nicholas D'Agosto, Emma Bell and Miles Fisher. How is it after five movies, does this series still have the same disturbingly violent magic as the first four? Are the kills as creative and disgusting as they should for the fifth one? How are the actors? If you've seen it, write a comment below and tell us what you thought of Final Destination 5.

Sound Off: Ruben Fleischer's '30 Minutes or Less' - Your Thoughts?

30 Minutes or Less Sound Off

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? "We'll deliver anywhere in 30 minutes or less or it's free!" Hitting theaters this weekend is 30 Minutes or Less, the latest wild comedic creation from director Ruben Fleischer (of Zombieland), starring Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari as the "good" guys, and Danny McBride and Nick Swardson as the bad guys, who strap a bomb to Eisenberg and force him to rob a bank. So is it actually good? Is it as funny as the trailers make it out to be? How are the jokes and who steals the show? If you've seen it, post a comment below and tell us what you thought of 30 Minutes or Less.

Mike Myers is Returning for Yet Another New 'Austin Powers' Sequel?

Mike Myers as Austin Powers

Shall we shag now, or shall we shag later? Comedian/actor Mike Myers hasn't had too much success with any of his characters recently. The Love Guru was a huge flop, The Cat in the Hat was terrible, all he's got is Shrek and Austin Powers. After exhausting one franchise he's back to the other. HitFix is reporting, and this is all they say, that Myers has signed the deal to return as Austin Powers again in a third sequel. "Austin Powers 4 is coming, officially." I'm not surprised. Hollywood seems to be stuck on rebooting/restarting older franchises again (e.g. American Pie), so why not Austin Powers? Everyone loved Goldmember, right?

Check This Out: Official US Poster for Ryan Gosling's 'Drive' Arrives

Drive Poster

There are no clean getaways. Earlier today we featured that awesome new UK quad poster for Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive, starring Ryan Gosling, in the post for the new TV spot that's airing. Thanks to a tip from The Film Stage, we can now check out the theatrical US poster for Drive from IMPAwards, where they've got it in high res. If you're not excited for this movie yet, this is another reminder that you should be, as it's one of the best films this year (my review) and the marketing for it has been pitch perfect. I liked the posters they had at Comic-Con, but I wanted more and here we go. Can't wait until this finally hits theaters!

More First Looks: 'J. Edgar', 'Dragon Tattoo' & 'My Week With Marilyn'

DiCaprio in J. Edgar Photo

Entertainment Weekly is hosting their big fall preview, unveiling lots of first looks at the rather impressive line-up this fall/winter movie season. Though we just featured the first J. Edgar photo last night, EW has published three more as part of an entire article about the film. So not only do we have three more photos of Leonardo DiCaprio in Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar, but our friends at The Film Stage scanned shots from the EW pages of David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, starring Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig, as well as Simon Curtis' My Week with Marilyn, starring Michelle Williams. See them below!
