Six New Character Banners for Nicolas Winding Refn's Thriller 'Drive'

Albert Brooks in Drive

If you headed out to see the supremely disappointing horror flick Don't Be Afraid of the Dark this past weekend, then you more than likely saw a trailer for another Film District release in the form of Nicolas Winding Refn's thriller Drive starring Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan. If not, you would do well to check out the red band trailer which is even better than the one approved for all audiences in theaters right now. Gosling has already been featured front and center on the official poster for the film, and now six new banners highlight the supporting cast including an intimidating, villainous Albert Brooks and more.

Watch: Thrilling New Trailer for Pedro Almodóvar's 'The Skin I Live In'

The Skin I Live In

Over the summer a peculiar teaser trailer and an equally strange but brilliant second trailer for Pedro Almodovar's The Skin I Live In (or La piel que habito in Spanish) starring Antonio Banderas in a role that seems unlike anything he's done before. The trailer is nearly dialogue-free with some entrancing music accompanying the visuals which don't hint much at the narrative itself. Still it's chilling and really makes me think this will be a special kind of thriller, and something completely new for Almodovar as a director. Alex loved the film at Cannes, but you can judge for yourself by checking out the trailer below.

George Clooney Dropping Soderbergh's 'Man from U.N.C.L.E.' Movie

George Clooney / The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

It was last November when we heard that Steven Soderbergh would re-team with his Out of Sight and Ocean's 11 franchise star George Clooney for a big screen adaptation of the 60s TV series The Man from U.N.C.L.E., which followed the adventures of American and Russian members of a secret agency called the United Network Command for Law & Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E.). Once believed to be Soderbergh's last job as a director (until he decided to direct Magic Mike with Channing Tatum), the project now finds itself without a lead actor as Deadline reports Clooney is now leaving the project for unknown reasons.

Confirmed: Josh Brolin Now Set to Lead Spike Lee's 'Oldboy' Remake

Oldboy / Josh Brolin

Back in July there were rumblings that Josh Brolin was in very early talks to lead the gestating remake of Oldboy which just surprised everyone by getting Spike Lee to direct the film. Now Deadline says the new take on Park Chan-wook's 2003 thriller has officially cast the actor in the lead role of the remake written by Mark Protosevich (the same writer working on a new Jurassic Park with Steven Spielberg who was previously flirting with the Oldboy remake himself). Honestly, as worrisome as this remake might make fans of the original, having Lee and Brolin work on a project like this sounds more than satisfying.

Andrew Garfield Observed Spider Behavior for 'Amazing Spider-Man'

The Amazing Spider-Man

While the reactions were certainly mixed following the first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, after his heartfelt speech at Comic-Con, it would be difficult for anybody to deny the fact that Andrew Garfield has a true passion and love for the character and is genuinely grateful and humbled to become everyone's favorite wall-crawler. The British actor recently sat down to talk about the role that will launch him into super-stardom, and if you need anymore convincing about his dedication to the role, his talk about incorporating spider-like behavior as both Spider-Man and Peter Parker should do the trick. Read on!

Nick Nolte to Run the L.A.P.D. in Ruben Fleischer's 'Gangster Squad'

Nick Nolte

Though most of the 2000's didn't see many memorable roles for actor Nick Nolte, I'd like to think the start of his comeback kicked off with his great supporting turn in the 2008 comedy Tropic Thunder. However, it sounds like his real return to glory takes place in the UFC fighting drama Warrior hitting theaters on September 9th. In what many of called an Oscar-worthy performance, Nolte looks to be back on the rise, and he's just snagged another role to keep his career going the same direction. Deadline says the actor has landed a supporting role in Gangster Squad, the period crime drama from director Ruben Fleischer.

Beyoncé's Pregnancy to Delay Eastwood's Remake of 'A Star is Born'

A Star is Born / Beyonce

Aside from the short but exciting teaser trailer for The Hunger Games premiering last night, MTV's annual Video Music Awards also brought some shocking news from the music world that will in turn affect movie news as well. In case you haven't heard, singer-turned-actress Beyoncé Knowles revealed that she was pregnant. Normally this kind of celebrity news wouldn't be of any interest to us at all, but in this case, Deadline is reporting that the revelation means Warner Bros. will likely end up delaying their production of Clint Eastwood's remake of A Star is Born which was looking to start shooting as early as February 2012.

Ghost House Pictures Developing Another Installment of 'The Grudge'

The Grudge

Frankly, I'm not sure that anyone out there is still paying attention since the last attempt to keep the franchise going in 2009 was a straight-to-video sequel, but apparently Ghost House Pictures and Mandate are currently working on another installment of The Grudge horror series. However, this new film will be actually be series a reboot. This comes after the weird history behind the franchise which originated with two Japanese television movies called Ju-On. Japanese sequels followed, and after The Ring remake hit theaters, the series was prime for the American remake with Sarah Michelle Gellar we know today.

'The Departed' Writer William Monahan Hired to Work on 'Sin City 2'

Sin City

Earlier this month, the impossible seemed to be happening as the long-awaited Sin City 2, the sequel to the 2005 graphic novel adaptation from Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, had landed financing and was waiting for a final script. Now word comes from Heat Vision that the man delivering the new version of the script will be William Monahan, the Oscar-winning screenwriter behind The Departed and the upcoming sci-fi flick Horizons from Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski. The writer will work on a recently completed draft from Miller with shooting hopefully starting before the end of the year.

Watch: First Official Teaser Trailer for 'The Hunger Games' Adaptation

The Hunger Games Teaser Trailer

"You're stronger than they are... you are." Lionsgate has finally unveiled a first glimpse at The Hunger Games, Gary Ross' anticipated adaptation of Suzanne Collins' series of books, in the form of a 60-second teaser trailer shown during MTV's VMAs last night. Of course, MTV now has an online version of it, which includes a brief intro from Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Katniss Everdeen, as well as the all-forest-set Hunger Games footage. This is only just a tease, but shows some bow-and-arrow action that we'll see plenty of as Katniss goes up against the other Panem tributes. It looks fine, but is it enough to get anyone excited?

Indie Trailer Sunday: German Post-Apocalyptic Film 'Hell' First Trailer

Hell Trailer

The Sun Has Burned Everything. This trailer has been making the rounds, but we've been remiss in posting about it until now (thanks to SlashFilm for the tip). If you haven't heard about it before, Hell is a Roland Emmerich-produced German post-apocalyptic film about a couple of survivors in a world where the sun has scorched the Earth and left it too bright to inhabit (Hell in German means Bright). This trailer is obviously playing up the epic-ness of the story with its music but it actually looks quite good, I really want to see this. It does have subtitles, but you must click the "CC" (closed-caption) button on the YouTube player. Enjoy!
