Alex Winter Directing a Documentary About Napster's Rise and Fall
We knew it was coming. With the success of The Social Network, more tech dramas had to be on their way, but this one is unique. Deadline reports that Alex Winter, better known as Bill from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure who's now a filmmaker, is ready to direct a movie about infamous file-sharing service Napster. However, instead of making a narrative feature out of the story, Winter is now just going to make this as a documentary with the support of VH1. He did 10 years of research for a script but Deadline says "Winter is going back to all the sources for his script, armed with a camera." Okay, this sounds like it could be great.

Ben Affleck Aiming Direct POV Thriller 'Line of Sight' for Warner Bros
Go, go, go! Ben Affleck is diving head first into directing. He's just about to start shooting his other film, Argo, the hostage crisis thriller starring John Goodman, Alan Arkin and himself, but THR reports he's already in negotiations to direct another film following that one. This project is called Line of Sight and is being produced by Joel Silver and Andrew Rona at Warner Bros. The big catch on this is it's another point-of-view (POV) movie, meaning it's first-person shooter view the entire time. We've already got that Gray Man project with Brad Pitt in the works that's entirely POV, now another one from and starring Ben Affleck.

Worth Watching: Full Festival Trailer for Aki Kaurismäki's 'Le Havre'
If you're going to the Toronto Film Fest next month or want to check out a wonderful French film coming up, then check out this early festival trailer for Aki Kaurismäki's Le Havre, as posted on YouTube by TIFF (via The Playlist). This charming drama, with a fairly comedic tone, stars André Wilms as Marcel Marx, a shoe-shiner living in the port city of Le Havre who befriends a young African illegal immigrant trying to get to England. There's a local police inspector right out of the 70's in the flick and it's quite a heartwarming story, which is why I suggest seeing it. I saw this in Cannes and enjoyed it quite a bit, highly recommended.

Cute New Motion Poster for DreamWorks Animation's 'Puss in Boots'
If you love cats and browsing YouTube all day long for funny cat videos, then this motion poster was made for you. DreamWorks Animation has posted a new motion poster via Fandango for their upcoming movie Puss in Boots, which tells the origin story of the swashbuckling feline, where he came from, and his boots, as voiced by Antonio Banderas. We've already seen the theatrical trailer for this upcoming comedy, and it's surprisingly on my radar because it actually looks like DWA has made another entertaining movie. This is a cute little motion poster that I hope will keep this movie on everyone's mind, especially if you love cats.

Enthralling Teaser Trailer for Luc Besson's 'The Lady' Unveiled Online
Whoa. That was my first thought watching this new teaser trailer. You wouldn't expect a biopic about the oppressed leader of Burma, known as The Lady, to be so intense/epic, but that's definitely the feeling they're going for with this. Yahoo has unveiled a teaser trailer for Luc Besson's The Lady, a film about Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi, played by Michelle Yeoh, who has been kept under house arrest by her own country for years even though she won an election. This has received a lot of attention recently, as Besson had to shoot it quietly, since there's still a real opposition to Suu Kyi in the world. But this looks fantastic!

Roger Ebert's Book 'Life Itself: A Memoir' Arrives on September 13th
Easily one of the most celebrated film critics of his time, Roger Ebert truly is a connoisseur of cinema, and plenty of cinephiles pay attention whenever he has something substantial to say. While Ebert has released several books about films, both good and bad, his newest piece of work takes a slight step back from merely talking about cinema as Life Itself: A Memoir has the film critic looking back on his whole life and career. From his early days as a child in Urbana, Illinois, to becoming a local newspaper reporter, to his high profile days at The Chicago Sun-Times, Ebert fondly and candidly guides through all his years. Read on!

Watch: Latest Trailer for Emilio Estevez's 'The Way' with Martin Sheen
"You don't choose a life, Dad, you live one." An official trailer for the latest feature from filmmaker Emilio Estevez called The Way has arrived online in high def thanks to Apple. This indie drama stars Martin Sheen, and his son Emilio Estevez, and follows Sheen as he travels to the El Camino de Santiago path in Spain. Their cast includes Deborah Kara Unger, James Nesbitt and Yorick van Wageningen. This looks surprisingly very good, not only heartfelt but amusing and entertaining, I didn't know what to expect, but I'm definitely curious. Nesbitt looks great, too. This is worth watching, even if you've never heard of it!

A Whole Bunch of Akira Kurosawa Remakes Could Be Coming Soon
If you were upset about the Weinstein Company's forthcoming remake of the classic film Seven Samurai from legendary filmmaker Akira Kurosawa, well, you may want to sit down for this. A company called Splendent Media has just picked up the remake rights to no less than 69 titles from the director. The properties include 26 of the films Kurosawa directed such as Rashomon, Yojimbo, Dreams, Kagemusha and plenty more. The deal also includes 24 films he wrote but did not direct, and 19 screenplays that never made it in front of a camera. Honestly, the latter portion of this news doesn't sound bad. More info below.

Alexander Skarsgard Will Be Heading to 'The East' with Brit Marling
While many are used to seeing him steam up the small screen on HBO's "True Blood," audiences will see Alexander Skarsgard on the big screen again soon enough with his role in Straw Dogs, hitting theaters in September. Now Heat Vision has word that Skarsgard is in talks to join The East, a new thriller from breakout Sundance Film Festival talent Brit Marling (Another Earth, Sound of My Voice) who co-wrote the script with Zat Batmangli, who will also be directing the film. Marling is pulling double duty again as she will also star in the story about a female agent who infiltrates an eco-terrorist group called The East.

Another Dark, Iconic Teaser Poster for James McTeigue's 'The Raven'
Since they can't show blood, how about a dark red poster with a dripping raven? That'll do! I use the word "iconic" because how many other movies are marketing with imagery alone? (Oh right.) A second teaser poster for James McTeigue's The Raven has hit the web via Latino Review and it's a brand new design, but still sleek and visually striking. The first teaser poster for The Raven, starring John Cusack as Edgar Allen Poe, was revealed at Comic-Con, along with some early footage, but Relativity still hasn't put out a trailer yet. I'm looking forward to this and hopefully this is a sign we may finally see something soon. Take a look!

Writer Damien Chazelle Set to Script a Sequel to 'The Last Exorcism'
After the film came together with a modest budget of just $1.6 million, Lionsgate was surely pleased to see their found-footage horror thriller The Last Exorcism turn quite a profit by raking in over $67 million at the worldwide box office. That kind of bank makes a sequel pretty much inevitable, so it's no surprise that Heat Vision the producers are moving forward with a follow-up to the film with up-and-coming writer Damien Chazelle writing the script. No director is currently attached to the sequel, but financing has already been rounded up from Studio Canal and production is already slated to being this fall.
