Kevin Costner Drops Out of Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'

Kevin Costner / Django Unchained

With Samuel L. Jackson and Gerald McRaney joining the cast of Quentin Tarantino's spaghetti western Django Unchained, the assembly of talent for the late 2012 release seemed too good to be true. Apparently the universe agreed as a Twitter update from Variety reporter Justin Kroll announced today that, "Kevin Costner has had to pass on Django Unchained due to scheduling conflicts." The actor was to have played Ace Woody, the right-hand man of ruthless plantation/slave-owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). Sad news for those who were anxious to see Dances with Wolves saddled up again.

Apparently Ryan Gosling, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Alexander Skarsgård are on the list.

Watch: First New TV Spot for Universal's 'The Thing' Prequel Revealed

The Thing TV Spot

The Thing Will Become You! Universal has unveiled the first official TV spot for their upcoming prequel The Thing, directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. Starring Joel Edgerton and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, as well as a small group of others including Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, this looks very much like the prequel but with its own spin on it. While I know some are critical of the CGI effects, I'm loving those little teases we get in this, at least with the hand and that guy's face, this looks creepy and awesome, yet not too much of a repeat of John Carpenter's classic. Check out this first TV spot to follow-up the trailer from July.

Premium Rush Trailer

Since his turn in last summer's Inception, many fans of Joseph Gordon-Levitt are looking forward to his role in Chris Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. But between now and then, the child actor turned impressive adult star can be seen in 50/50 (which hits theaters on September 30th) and this new thriller Premium Rush. Plus, you can't go wrong with Michael Shannon as the villain in hot pursuit. Check this out!

Emily Watson and Hugo Weaving in First 'Oranges & Sunshine' Trailer

Oranges and Sunshine

Ripped from a disturbingly true story of a social worker's struggle to expose the scandal of the United Kingdom's forced migration of thousands of abandoned children, some as young as 4-years old, to abusive work homes in Australia, we have Jim Loach's directorial debut Oranges and Sunshine. Actress Emily Watson (Punch-Drunk Love) stars as social worker Margaret Humphreys in what seems like a promising real-life drama if it wasn't for the invasive, cheesy voiceover within this first trailer for the film. At least the performances from Watson and Hugo Weaving seem to make this worth a look. See the trailer below!

Watch: Official Trailer for John Madden's 'Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'

Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

If The Bucket List didn't deliver enough sappy, geriatric drama for your liking, then maybe Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy and Tom Wilkinson can come through in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel from Shakespeare in Love director John Madden. The story follows an entrepreneurial Indian executive who decides to start up a first-rate home for elderly British retirees full of the aforementioned veteran actors. While the film looks like it has charm, the trailer does come off rather cheesy, and it's not exactly thrilling to see Dev Patel in such a caricature type of a role. Anyway, see the trailer below!

James Franco is Now Set to Adapt Cormac McCarthy's 'Child of God'

Child of God / James Franco

Early this year, we learned that James Franco was looking to adapt Cormac McCarthy's novel Blood Meridian as one of a few potential directing gigs to take on sometime in the future. The news was surprising considering the book has been called "unfilmmable" with directors like  Todd Field (Little Children), Michael Haneke (The White Ribbon) and Ridley Scott previously being interested in tackling the material. Now We Got This Covered says Franco has also put the project on the backburner, and will instead adapt Child of God, another novel from McCarthy, the same author behind No Country for Old Men.

Denzel Washington Offered Lead in 'The Secret in Their Eyes' Remake

Denzel Washington

Some big casting news for another Foreign remake, as that's what Hollywood is very into right now. Twitch is reporting (so take this news cautiously for now) that Denzel Washington has been offered the lead role in a remake of the Argentinian Oscar winning film The Secret in Their Eyes. It was announced this year that writer/director Billy Ray (Shattered Glass, Breach) will be directing, with Warner Bros producing. Denzel, last in Unstoppable and Safe House, and also has Robert Zemeckis' new film Flight coming up this fall, has been offered the role of the character Benjamín Esposito, played by Ricardo Darín, in the original.

Rumor: Bill Murray Out, and John Hodgman is NOT in 'Ghostbusters 3'

John Hodgman

With the original film slated to return to theaters next month, and Dan Aykroyd having at least one potential cast member in mind, there's a good chance Columbia Pictures might finally be gearing up to get Ghostbusters 3 off the ground. And while there's been endless talk about Bill Murray holding up the sequel, a new rumor suggests that the film may finally happen without the actor starring in the film. On the latest episode of The Best Show with comedians Tom Scharpling and John Hodgman ("The Daily Show"), an oddly specific question was posed by the latter comedian about a potential role in the sequel. Read on!
