Burning Man

If you haven't noticed, there's been plenty of coverage from the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival from our own Alex Billington. And as the festival progresses, some of the films featured are getting some buzz started. Films like The Raid (watch the trailer here) are getting rave reviews, but now we have the first visually stunning trailer for Burning Man, a drama from Jonathan Teplitzky featuring Matthew Goode (Watchmen) as a man struggling to deal with personal tragedy and reacting wildly and recklessly to six women trying to save his life as he attempts to reconnect with his 8-year old son. J.J. Abrams is Committed to Start Shooting 'Star Trek 2' This Winter

J.J. Abrams Directing Star Trek

Back in July came somewhat of a confirmed update that J.J. Abrams, the director who quite successfully rebooted the Star Trek franchise in 2009, would be returning to direct the sequel, but the proposed summer 2012 release date was being pushed back to allow for a non-rushed completion of the script. Since then Abrams has skirted the issue of confirming his return to the director's chair. But now apparently Vulture has learned Abrams is fully committed to shooting the sequel himself, pre-production is underway, the script will be finished by the end of the month, and the film will begin shooting this winter.

The Original 'Ghostbusters' Will Be Returning to Theaters this October!

Ghostbusters

"Ghosts. They're real. They're mean. They're here!" They're back! Although we've heard that other films like Top Gun and Scarface are returning to theaters, Sony/Columbia has announced via the official Facebook fan page that the original 1984 Ghostbusters will be returning this theaters in October. "It's time to get your cats and dogs together and prepare for mass hysteria: This October, for the first time in over 25 years, the original and unforgettable Ghostbusters makes its triumphant return to theaters!" Can't wait to see this! I'm wondering if this has anything to do with them testing the waters for the upcoming Ghostbusters III sequel?

Gerald McRaney and Samuel L. Jackson Both Join 'Django Unchained'

Samuel L. Jackson / Gerald McRaney

After being a staple, though not always an obvious one, in most of the films from Quentin Tarantino, it looks like Samuel L. Jackson will reunite with the writer/director yet again. Variety reports the actor will re-team with the filmmaker for a fifth time with a role in the spaghetti western Django Unchained. In the film, Jackson will play Stephen, a house slave and the right-hand man of a sadistic slavemaster. He only improves an already fantastic cast including Jamie Foxx as the titular freed slave, Leonardo DiCaprio as a ruthless plantation owner and Kevin Costner as his top henchman. More below!

'Submarine' Director Richard Ayoade Gets 'Neighborhood Watch' Role

Richard Ayoade

In addition to helming the twisted, coming-of-age comedy Submarine (read my glowing review here), British talent Richard Ayoade might be better known for his hilarious role in the comedy series "The IT Crowd" (which also features Bridesmaids star Chris O'Dowd) from across the pond. Now, just like his TV co-star, Ayoade is beginning to hit the big screen in front of the camera as Variety reports the British funnyman has just landed a role in the forthcoming sci-fi comedy Neighborhood Watch. He joins quite an impressive array of comedic talent that already includes Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill.

Second Official Trailer for 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part I'

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part I

Between the first teaser trailer and the teaser posters reminiscent of grocery store romance novels, it's clear that Breaking Dawn: Part I, the first half of the two-part conclusion of The Twilight Saga is going to deliver more of the same to fans who have come to be rabid for the supernatural romance franchise. While I would normally use the amount of melodrama in this new trailer as a point of criticism, it's essentially become the style of the series and works in the same way the camp of movies like Fright Night does. Either way, there's plenty of vampire romance and baby drama to go around in the all-new trailer below!

Eddie Marsan Plans Directorial Debut with Shakespearean ‘Pell Mell’

Eddie Marsan

British character actor Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes, Red Riding Trilogy) will be the latest to retell Shakespeare with his planned directorial debut, Pell Mell. According to Marsan, who spoke to Screen Junkies during while promoting Tyrannosaur at TIFF, said Mell will be “Shakespeare’s Richard III set in 1960's London”. While the film is still in the early stages of financing and casting, Marsan is “very excited” about making the big move behind the camera (though he will likely act in the film as well). In fact, it was one of his fellow British actors turned writer/directors that encouraged him to change hat. Read on!

Watch: In-Depth Analysis of Big Chase Sequence in 'The Dark Knight'

The Dark Knight

Since its release, many film fans and casual movie-goers have claimed The Dark Knight to be one of the best films of the last decade, and several of them would even count it among the best films of all-time. While I'll concede Chris Nolan's sequel is one of the best superhero movies ever put on film, counting it among the best films throughout cinema's short but impressive history may be a bit over zealous. Other minds have also taken it upon themselves to point out that The Dark Knight isn't perfect, and critic Jim Emerson takes it to the next level as he carefully breaks down the big chase sequence in the middle of the film.

Teaser Trailer for Eduardo Sánchez's New Horror Thriller 'Lovely Molly'

Lovely Molly Teaser Trailer

"He's right behind you!" Its been 12 years since The Blair Witch Project thrilled audiences, now co-director Eduardo Sánchez is back with his newest film, a horror thriller called Lovely Molly that's making the rounds premiering at the Toronto Film Festival this month. The film stars Gretchen Lodge and Johnny Lewis as newlyweds who move into Molly's deceased father's house in the countryside. I was also recently given a viral kit with a photo (see it on BD) that links to a page on the official website. It looks like another creepy ghost story with a mix of found footage and conventional footage, so if you love horror, check it out.

Stanley Tucci & Chris Cooper Join Redford's 'The Company You Keep'

Stanley Tucci / Chris Cooper

Though his last directing effort with The Conspirator left something to be desired, Robert Redford will likely overshadow that film with his next effort The Company You Keep. The cast already includes impressive names like Shia LaBeouf, Susan Sarandon, Julie Christie, Nick Nolte on a path back to glory and breakout Sundance actress and writer Brit Marling. Now Screen Daily reports Stanley Tucci (Captain America: The First Avenger) and Chris Cooper (The Town) have also joined the film based on Neil Gordon's novel of the same name which has been adapted by Lem Dobbs, the man behind Haywire and The Limey.
