Toronto Review: Spurlock's 'Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope' Doc
I'm a die-hard Comic-Con devotee. Its the convention I've been attending the longest and I unconditionally love it. Premiering at the Toronto Film Fest is Morgan Spurlock's second full documentary of 2011, about the San Diego Comic-Con (aka Comic-Con International), the annual comics/movies/games/pop culture convention in Southern California that attracts upwards of 200,000 people every July. It's a nerd mecca that brings in devoted fans from all over the world. Spurlock's doc was shot at the Con in 2010 and follows five particular people attending, one an exhibitor, one a costume designer, others various comic artists/geeks.

Indie Trailer Sunday: Wim Wenders' 3D Dance Doc 'Pina' First Trailer
"Dance, dance... otherwise we are lost." Today's indie trailer I'm featuring is for an interpretive dance documentary called Pina, shot and shown in 3D (which actually works very well), featuring choreographed dances from legendary German dancer Pina Bausch. The trailer is the official Australian trailer via Awards Daily, and is worth watching for those who might be interested in this. I saw the film at the Telluride Film Fest, but didn't really care for it, there's no context and nothing to it besides these dances, but if that's your thing, you may love it. They don't show my favorite number with chairs being stacked, but it's a good trailer.

Toronto Review: Duplass Brothers' Comedy 'Jeff Who Lives at Home'
Did you see Signs? Good, because if you didn't, you won't get this film at all. That's not entirely true, but it's that context that frames this comedy, and damn is it hilarious. Jeff Who Lives at Home is the latest film from the Duplass Brothers (of The Puffy Chair, Baghead, Cyrus) that, in its simplest description, is a stoner comedy about a 30-something guy who lives in his mom's basement and the adventure he goes when leaving to buy wood glue. But it's actually all about destiny. Does any of this make sense? No? Good, because that's how wacky yet funny this is, especially with Jason Segel leading the way as Jeff, who lives at home.

Toronto Review: Bobcat Goldthwait's Wild, Violent 'God Bless America'
There are lots of black comedies, which are usually quite edgy, then there are really, really black comedies, and Bobcat Goldthwait (of Sleeping Dogs Lie, World's Greatest Dad) is one of the kings of those very black comedies. God Bless America is his newest film and it makes quite a bit of fun of America, as if it were Bobcat's rant against the endless idiocy found there, but it's also hilarious in dark—very dark—ways. My first thought is that it's this year's Super (from James Gunn), in terms of the violence and craziness, and its light, amusing tone throughout, but I laughed quite a bit more during this film that I did in that comedy.

Check Out This Vibrant New Sci-Fi Poster for Andrew Niccol's 'In Time'
Oh how I love sci-fi. One of the films coming up this fall that I'm mildly excited about is Andrew Niccol's semi-sci-fi thriller In Time, starring Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried as fugitives on the run in a world where everyone's life and even currency is measured in time. We've seen trailers and posters for this already, but our friends at IMPAwards have posted a new Thai poster for In Time that's quite gorgeous, even though it's a bit cheesy. I just love how they've put in an expansive sci-fi world in the background and their faces are only seen on the "wanted" signs. Great poster design, I just hope the film lives up to it as well.

Sound Off: Gavin O'Connor's MMA Drama 'Warrior' - Your Thoughts?
Now that you've seen it, what did you think? Ready to go to war?! Arriving in theaters everywhere today is a film that I've loved since I first saw it in early April. It's a sports drama called Warrior about two MMA fighters and brothers who end up in the ring together. Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton, two of the most badass up-and-coming actors, star as the "warriors" we're rooting for, along with Nick Nolte as their estranged father. So is it as great as everyone is saying? Did it leave you in tears at the end? Did you love it? If you've already seen it, leave a comment below and tell us what you thought of Gavin O'Connor's Warrior.

Sound Off: Steven Soderbergh's 'Contagion' - So What Did YOU Think?
Now that you've seen it, what did you think? Arriving in theaters everywhere (*cough*) is the virus thriller from Oscar winning Steven Soderbergh titled Contagion. Similar to the 1995 thriller Outbreak, the film features an ensemble cast and deals with the dilemma of a disease spreading across the entire world, including its origins and how it affects everyone, from CDC executives to regular citizens. The cast includes: Gwyneth Paltrow, Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Laurence Fishburne, Jennifer Ehle and Bryan Cranston. So if you've seen it, leave a comment below and tell us your thoughts on Contagion.

Watch: The Official US Trailer for 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy' Unveiled
"If you're caught... you can't mention me." As promised, Focus Features has unveiled their official US trailer for the upcoming winter release in America for Tomas Alfredson's Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, the UK spy thriller we've been hyping up for most of this year. We've seen quite a few trailers for this, including the first trailer, a UK trailer, and another great international trailer, but this another good one, just in case you haven't seen enough. It does borrow a bit from Inception, but no worries, this still looks awesome. Of course, the cast is stellar: Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, John Hurt and Toby Jones. Enjoy!

Fox Searchlight Acquires Steve McQueen's 'Shame' for US Distribution
Oh hell yes! I had a feeling this might happen! One of our favorite indie distributors, Fox Searchlight, has taken a very bold move and acquired the controversial and provocative new film from Hunger director Steve McQueen titled Shame. I saw the film at the Telluride Film Festival (where the Fox Searchlight execs were too) and absolutely loved it (read my review), even though I didn't like Hunger much, but I felt that it needed a very brave, bold distributor who could actually give this film the push it deserves. So great to see that Fox Searchlight, who put out Black Swan and 127 Hours just last year, is the one picking this up.

Watch: 'Puss in Boots' is Likely The Most Interesting Cat in the World
By now you've hopefully seen the countless commercials for Dos Equis beer touting The Most Interesting Man in the World as one of its loyal customers. Referring to the commercial's star Jonathan Goldstein as the man who can do it all, "Frontline" narrator Will Lyman offers gems like calling him the only man who has aced a Rorschach test. Now the suave swordsman of a cat Puss in Boots gets the same treatment as The Most Interesting Cat in the World, a feline whose hairballs are made from fine Italian wool. It's not exactly as clever as the commercials it's trying to emulate but it's a fun video to check out below.

Watch: First Teaser Trailer for TIFF Action Fave 'The Raid' Hits Already
Well that didn't take long at all. Only a few hours after seeing and immediately reviewing one of the "best action movies in years" at the Toronto Film Festival, an early teaser trailer for Gareth Evans' The Raid has been unveiled online via MTV and it's a must watch. The Raid is an Indonesian action film about an elite SWAT police squad that raids a drug lord's building, which it takes place entirely in, and it's awesome. Sony has also announced that Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda will be creating an "an entirely new musical score for the ultra-intense action picture's" US release. A perfect way to follow-up my immense praise - check it out!

Arnold Schwarzenegger Ready to Be 'Captive' for New Action Thriller
After dealing with some personal issues, Arnold Schwarzenegger is already slated to return to the big screen with The Last Stand, the English language debut of director Jee-woon Kim and also a recently confirmed substantial role in The Expendables 2. Now Deadline says the action star has lined up yet another project in the form Captive, of a new indie action thriller from writer Benjamin van der Veen and a story by Nicolai Fuglsig. Schwarzenegger wouldn't exactly be a big time action hero in this film as the story sees him playing an American real estate magnate living in Brazil who is kidnapped and held for ransom.
