Carey Mulligan Gets Busy in 2012 with Coen Brothers and Spike Jonze
Just last week we learned that Drive and Sucker Punch star Oscar Isaac had been chosen to lead the new Coen Brothers film Inside Llewyn Davis, which is said to focus on the early folk music scene in Greenwich Village in the 60's. Now Variety has word that another Drive star is also entering the mix. Carey Mulligan has landed the female lead in the film about the struggles of the titular fictional musician as he attempts to make a name for himself in the genre's heyday. It's not clear if Mulligan is a folk singer herself or maybe just a love interest for the main character. Details on another promising role for the actress below.

Watch: Spike Jonze's Stop-Motion Animated Short 'To Die By Your Side'
We've featured several short films from director Spike Jonze before like his love story I'm Here, and Scenes from the Suburbs, a collaboration with the band Arcade Fire. Now we have yet another spectacular short film from the filmmaker who brought us such films as Adaptation and Being John Malkovich. Titled Mourir Auprès de Toi (To Die By Your Side), the lovely stop-motion animated short was co-directed with Simon Cahn and is based partly on the work of fashion designer Olympia Le-Tan complete with cut-felt characters that come to life from book covers from the Shakespeare & Company bookshop in Paris.

George Romero Continues Undead Obsession with 'Zombie Autopsies'
After crafting the classic horror film Night of the Living Dead, filmmaker George A. Romero has made a living (pun unintended) with several films about the walking dead. His obsession with zombies stemmed from the sequels Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead to more recent films like Survival of the Dead and Diary of the Dead. Now there's word that Romero is set to tackle yet another zombie-centric film in the form of an adaptation of Steven C. Schlozman's book The Zombie Autopsies: Secret Notebooks from the Apocalypse. Thankfully it doesn't sounds like the same old zombie schtick we're used to seeing.

Check This Out: First Stellar Teaser Poster for 'Chronicle' Discovered
What are you capable of? One film that has instantly shot to the top of my most anticipated is Chronicle, the found footage superpowers indie flick that we just saw the first trailer for yesterday. Our friends at IMPAwards have discovered the first teaser poster which features some fantastic lo-fi imagery of Seattle and the three kids flying around in the air, hinting at their powers growing beyond just strength and telekinesis. I totally love this imagery, it's the same bit from their Facebook, but it adds even more mystery and intrigue, with just a touch of Hollywood excitement, which is also why I'm so anxious to see this. Check it out below!

Watch Harrison Ford Play 'Uncharted: Drake's Deception' Video Game
There's a video that's been making the rounds over the past couple days, and one of our loyal readers was kind enough to send it our way yesterday. It's an Inception-like model or something Charlie Kaufman might write as Harrison Ford, the man who brought life to adventurer Indiana Jones, sits down to play a little bit of the forthcoming video game Uncharted: Drake's Deception, featuring Nathan Drake, a character very much inspired by Doctor Jones. The Pixel Pulse posted the video which is some kind of promotion for the game's release on November 1st, and it really looks like Ford knows his way around video games.

Watch: New 'Dragon Tattoo' Crash Viral Video Hiding Something Else?
Well, what do we have here? Over on the viral site mouth-taped-shut.com for David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, an update has just hit featuring a vintage video of the original bridge car crash that "started it all." If you've seen the Swedish movies or know the story from the books, you'll know the importance of this crash, as it occurred 40 years ago. It's just a silent drive-by video from a car, but I noticed something else peculiar in the tags for the video from YouTube. One of the tags listed there is "look closer" along with "WIHIS" and "slash". Is there something more hidden in this video that we're supposed to find?

First International Trailer for Jean-Jacques Annaud's 'Black Gold' Epic
"You were born to rule." Wow, this looks good. Our friends at Vlicious found the first French trailer for Jean-Jacques Annaud's Saharan desert oil epic Black Gold, but don't worry, the film is entirely in English. In brief, I could describe this as Lawrence of Arabia meets There Will Be Blood, it has that kind of feel to it, and an incredible cast to go with that. Antonio Banderas leads with Mark Strong (who is in so deep a character he's hardly recognizable), featuring Freida Pinto, Tahar Rahim from Un Prophete and Corey Johnson. This really does look outstanding, I can't wait to see more. This trailer is definitely a must watch!

Wachowskis Planning Sci-Fi 'Jupiter Ascending', May Shoot Next Year
The Wachowskis are back. They've given themselves some time since Speed Racer, they're already deep into production on the ambitious adaptation of Cloud Atlas with Tom Tykwer, now they've got another big sci-fi in the works. Deadline reports that a secret new project called Jupiter Ascending has started showing up on internal info sheets for Warner Bros, where it's in development. It's said to be an original creation by the two, Andy & Lana Wachowski, and will indeed be their next movie, their "first major science fiction action franchise play since The Matrix." Alas, that's all we know, since this is also the first anyone's heard about it.

First Trailer for Zhang Yimou's 'The Flowers of War' with Christian Bale
"Stop! This is the house of the Lord!" An official trailer has just debuted for Zhang Yimou's The Flowers of War, the Chinese war drama starring Christian Bale about the events that occurred in the city of Nanking during the Japanese invasion in 1937. The trailer, found via WildGrounds, is mostly in English anyway, but includes subtitles for Mandarin and English. This also seems to have a rather epic Spielberg-esque war tinge to it, with all the gritty and massive WWII action scenes, which take up the last half of the trailer. I wasn't expecting it to look this big, but some are even calling it "Yimou's Saving [Private] Ryan?" You must watch!

DreamWorks Animation Set to Adapt 'Captain Underpants' Book Series
After what was apparently quite a bidding war, Deadline says DreamWorks Animation has come out on top with the film rights to the 8-volume book series Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey. Considering the goofy illustrations, an animated film is certainly the best route for this type of adaptation which follows a couple of precocious fourth graders named George Beard and Harold Hutchins. Looking to get back at nasty, student-hating principal Mr. Benny Krupp, the boys hypnotize the principal and cause him to become Captain Underpants. Sounds like the start of a strange lawsuit to me, but this is a children's tale after all.

First Look at the Once-ler and Truffula Trees in Universal's 'The Lorax'
When it comes to Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment's adaptation of Dr. Seuss' classic children's book The Lorax, we've only seen our mustached environmentalist voiced by Danny DeVito in a first look photo and a very orange teaser poster. Now Entertainment Weekly has unveiled a few more photos that give us a first look at Dr. Seuss' world with the Truffula trees, and the misguided Once-ler who wants to turn them all into thneeds (a Fine-Something-That-All-People-Need) which is a strange pair of longjohns that can become a shirt, sock, glove, hat, pillow case, and bicycle-seat-cover. See the new photos below!
