Check This Out: Eye-Catching Poster for 'The Secret World of Arrietty'

The Secret World of Arrietty

This deserves a "whoa!" Disney has unveiled their first official poster for The Secret World of Arrietty, the recent Studio Ghibli movie (released in Japan in 2010) that's finally getting a theatrical release in the US next February. Yahoo put up the poster, which is certainly stunning, as it features the miniature Arrietty, a four-inch tall "little person" who lives under the house where the other guy looking down at her, Sho, also lives with his family. We ran a UK trailer back in July with different voices, but Disney has its own cast and we have yet to see that. I think it's a very creative and eye-catching poster that makes me want to see this.

Nicolas Cage Set to Lead Germany-Set English Thriller 'Black Butterfly'

Nicolas Cage

Let's be honest for a second. Nicolas Cage might be one of the better known actors in the industry, but over the past few years, his penchant for making four or five films a year has resulted in some serious disasters like Season of the Witch, and Trespass doesn't look like the most promising thriller. Thankfully Kick-Ass delivered in 2010 and Cage shined as Big Daddy. Now Cage will be heading to Germany for Black Butterfly the first English-language film from the European based production banner Bavariapool. The film follows a reclusive author named Paul (Cage) who befriends a drifter with fatal consequences. Read on!

Scott Derrickson Will Direct Charlize Theron in 'Zwart Water' Remake

Scott Derrickson

Before the filmmaker scared audiences the wrong way with a remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, director Scott Derrickson wrote and directed real horror in the form of The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Now Summit Entertainment is hiring Derrickson to helm Zwart Water, a remake of the Dutch horror film which went by the title Two Eyes Staring here in the United States, and even played at Fantastic Fest. In addition, Charlize Theron is not only attached to star in the film but produce it as well since she picked up the remake rights last year through her Denver and Delilah Films production banner. More below!

Confirmed: Anne Hathaway Joining Hugh Jackman in 'Les Miserables'

Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway

At the end of August, a rumor came about that Anne Hathaway might be joining Hugh Jackman in the new big screen adaptation of Les Miserables from The King's Speech director Tom Hooper. It was said she would take the lead female role of Fantine in this new version of the beloved, classic musical, beating out actresses like Rebecca Hall and Amy Adams, now Deadline has confirmed that the Alice in Wonderland and Rachel Getting Married star has finally closed her deal to star in the film. Even Jackman himself was pushing for Hathaway to snag the role, and that may have been what brought about the final decision.

Shia LaBeouf to Become 'A Giant' in Quirky Love Story from Gil Kenan

Shia LaBeouf

Since yesterday brought the news that franchise star Shia LaBeouf would not be returning for what looks to be back-to-back Transformers sequels with Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay returning in their respective roles and executive producer and director, that means a different project will have his talents instead. Variety has word that LaBeouf is attached to a quirky love story tentatively titled A Giant. The film, which will be written and directed by Monster House helmer Gil Kenan, will see the Eagle Eye actor playing a 20-foot-tall man-child who forms a relationship with the pretty girl who lives next door. Must Watch: Full US Trailer for William Monahan's 'London Boulevard'

London Boulevard Trailer

"You're a gangster, a part of my firm." FilmDistrict has revealed their official trailer for William Monahan's London Boulevard, the British gangster drama starring Colin Farrell as a thug recently released from prison who is hired to watch over a movie star and, of course, falls in love with her. Keira Knightley plays the starlet, but the real scene-stealer in this one is Ray Winstone, who looks like he tears up every scene he's in. We actually featured a trailer for this last year, but since it's just getting a US release, we finally have the official US one as well, and it looks damn good. Also stars David Thewlis, Anna Friel and Eddie Marsan.

Back-to-Back 'Transformers' Sequels Coming Without Shia LaBeouf?

Transformers

Well, that was fast! After learning this morning that Hasbro was already in talks with Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay for yet another Transformers sequel, some more details have already come to the surface. In fact, Variety's report says Paramount Pictures is actually thinking of shooting two back-to-back sequels for the action franchise, and that star Shia LaBeouf will not be reprising his role again as our hero Sam Witwicky. Apparently this would make production cheaper so that visual effects, toy design/deals and contract negotiations don't need to be rushed for a quick follow-up to the fourth film. More details below!

Watch: Second Official Shorter, Sweeter Trailer for 'The Descendants'

The Descendants Trailer

"My friends think that because I live in Hawaii, we live in paradise..." Fox Searchlight has put up a second official trailer for Alexandre Payne's The Descendants, starring George Clooney as a Hawaiian lawyer and land owner who tries to take care of his two daughters when his wife ends up in a coma. The first trailer hit back in May. This one is shorter, but does the perfect job of capturing the tone of the film, and how it balances emotion and comedy, as our friend Peter Sciretta's quote says. Shailene Woodley and Amara Miller star as his daughters, along with Nick Krause as the "'sup bro" kid. I highly suggest checking it out.

Watch: New Theatrical US Trailer for 'The Adventures of Tintin' Arrives

The Adventures of Tintin Trailer

"This isn't just a ship... he wants vengeance!" Paramount has debuted the second US trailer via Apple for The Adventures of Tintin, co-directed by Steven Spielberg & Peter Jackson. Not that we haven't seen plenty of trailers for this already, but each one is a bit different, and this one spends more time on the bigger story, about the missing ship and Cpt. Haddock's connection with it. Jamie Bell plays Tintin, Andy Serkis plays Haddock, Daniel Craig plays Sakharine, also featuring Simon Pegg & Nick Frost, Toby Jones and Gad Elmaleh. It looks like an Indiana Jones adventure, only animated, I can't wait to see it. Have fun!

Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick Writing 'Micronauts' Movie for Bad Robot

Micronauts

Another Hasbro toyline is getting a movie and it's not more Transformers thankfully. Deadline reports that Paramount recently made a deal with Hasbro to adapt the Micronauts toys into a feature film, and J.J. Abrams at Bad Robot is going to produce. Additionally, they've hired Zombieland writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick, who have been moving up quickly in Hollywood with screenwriting work like Deadpool, Cowboy Ninja Viking and G.I. Joe 2, to pen the screenplay. We first heard about this in 2009, but this is the only update since. The people involved make this sound much too interesting to just shrug off, I'm curious.

Nifty New Website for Alexander Payne's 'The Descendants' Launches

The Descendants

Meet the King Family. Fox Searchlight has just unveiled a fantastic new website for their upcoming film The Descendants, directed by Alexander Payne, starring George Clooney as a father of two daughters living on Hawaii caring for a wife who's in a coma. The website was unveiled today (via THR) and is actually a virtual/literal "family tree" for Matt King (Clooney's character) and his relatives, both those very old, and his brothers/cousins still alive, to his kids and other people related to the family all over Hawaii. You can navigate around the tree and click each profile for a video on them - very cool. Great way to explore the film.

Forest Whitaker & Johnny Knoxville Join Schwarzenegger's 'Last Stand'

Johnny Knoxville / Forest Whitaker

Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to make his return to feature film (and possibly comeback role) with The Last Stand, the first English-language film from director Kim Jee-Woon (I Saw the Devil, The Good, the Bad, the Weird). The film, co-starring Harry Dean Stanton, Rodrigo Santoro, Eduardo Noriega, Luis Guzman, Zach Gilford, Peter Stormare, and Jaimie Alexander, has built up quite the impressive cast for itself thus far. But that doesn't seem to have stopped, as the production, which began shooting today, has added two more interesting names to its eclectic cast; one you might expect and one you likely never would.
