Bryan Singer's 'Battlestar Galactica' Getting Life After 'Excalibur' Dies

Battlestar Galactica

It's been over two years since we last heard that X-Men director Bryan Singer would be at the helm of a new take on the 1981 epic Excalibur, but now we know why. Speaking with SFX (via The Playlist), the director says the film just isn't happening despite his enthusiasm for the project. The filmmaker hoped to take on the project following Jack the Giant Killer, but Warner Bros. has opted to go with Arthur & Lancelot instead. But Singer's loss might be to the advantage of certain sci-fi fans out there as this means the director has been working on his Battlestar Galactica movie that also happened to surface a couple years back.

Watch: First Full Trailer for Found Footage Horror 'The Devil Inside'

The Devil Inside Trailer

"If you really want to help your mother, you need a better understanding of exorcism." Paramount's low budget horror label Insurge Pictures has debuted the first trailer on Apple for The Devil Inside, another exorcism horror movie following up the likes of The Last Exorcism. In this one, Fernanda Andrade stars as Isabella Rossi, a woman who travels to Italy to uncover the truth about her mother, who apparently killed three people during her own exorcism, which is where that 911 call viral video came from. I actually like the concept and I'm glad they don't oversell the found footage aspect (it's more of a faux-doc). Check this out!

IMAX Unveils Kodak Partnership to Bring Laser Projection to Theaters

IMAX / Kodak / Laser

I feel a bit like Dr. Evil saying this, but is the future of projection technology in lasers? The big news today is that IMAX has announced a partnership with Eastman Kodak that includes exclusive rights to use their proprietary, patented laser projection technologies. So what is laser projection? We don't know much about it yet, but according to the press release it sounds like this is the future of projection because with any screen, at any size, it delivers "the deepest blacks, and the brightest 3D of any system demonstrated to date." Sounds great, especially in a huge IMAX dome theater where brightness is already a growing issue anyway.

Michael Bay & Steven Spielberg in Talks to Return for 'Transformers 4'

Transformers

Though it sounded like his turn in the director's chair for Transformers: Dark of the Moon might be his last for the multi-billion dollar franchise, apparently director Michael Bay and executive producer Steven Spielberg are already in talks with Hasbro about a fourth installment in the series. THR has word from Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner that the toy company is already in talks with the high profile filmmakers about getting yet another Transformers sequel off the ground with hopes to officially announce the project sometime next year. Clearly Hasbro isn't ready to simply let go of their transforming cash cow so easily.

Gillian Jacobs in Let Go Trailer

A comedy about love, loss and other felonies. How about a double-dose of unique indie trailers to watch today? Newly debuted by The Wrap is an official trailer for the indie dramedy Let Go, written & directed by Brian Jett, and starring an intriguing ensemble cast of comedic actors including the stunning and talented "Community" star Gillian Jacobs, "Traffic Light's" David Denman, comedian Kevin Hart, old-timer Ed Asner, with Simon Helberg, Kali Hawk and Garrett Morris. Denman plays a parole officer and Jacobs one of the eccentric ex-cons he's watching. It looks quite dramatic, and funny in darker ways, but still good.

The Adventures of Tintin

Time for something fun! Thanks to numerous updates on Awards Daily, there's lots to talk about regarding Tintin. First up, we have a fantastic new fan-made opening credit sequence for Steven Spielberg & Peter Jackson's The Adventures of Tintin that is fully graphic animated and totally awesome. It's made by James Curran (via Vimeo) and is an "unofficial" title sequence that features elements from each of the 24 books, using music from the TV series by Ray Parker & Tom Szczesniak. If you didn't already hear, Tintin is also getting some rave reviews out of the UK, including one from Empire and a few others from the trades.

Feige Says 'Iron Man 3' Leads the Next Round of Sequels to 'Avengers 2'

Iron Man

If it hasn't been obvious already, starting with Iron Man 2, the latest round of Marvel Studios movies have mostly been setups designed to lead us into The Avengers, which is finally arriving in theaters next May. While we just saw the first official trailer last week, Marvel made a stop at the New York Comic-Con this past weekend, and studio head Kevin Feige spoke about a few details regarding the future of the Marvel franchises. Bleeding Cool was the first to mention them, quoting that Feige said Iron Man 3 would be the first film "in the second phase of the Avengers initiative." Other sequels would follow from there.

Indie Trailer Sunday: Gaby Dellal's 'Angels Crest' with Thomas Dekker

Angels Crest Trailer

Today's indie trailer may not be the happiest, but at least it looks okay. Apple recently debuted a trailer for Angels Crest, the indie drama that recently hit the Tribeca Film Fest and landed a distributor for a winter release. It's directed by Gaby Dellal, based on Leslie Schwartz' novel, about a father who carelessly leaves his young son alone while he was out in the mountains. It's another small town, snowy tragedy kind of story, reminiscent of Snow Angels, starring Thomas Dekker as the father and Lynn Collins as the mother. The cast includes Jeremy Piven as the DA after Dekker, as well as Mira Sorvino, Kate Walsh and Joseph Morgan.

Watch: New 'Immortals' Featurette Video on Henry Cavill as Theseus

Henry Cavill as Theseus

"He fights against all odds." Relativity recently released this new featurette via MTV for Tarsem Singh's Immortals, the Greek gods epic that we've been teasing with many trailers for quite a while. The featurette takes a closer look at the story behind Theseus, played by Henry Cavill, our demigod hero and the badass main character we follow in this. There's a few interview snippets with Cavill and Tarsem, and even Luke Evans, as well as some new footage of his fights and early scenes with John Hurt that define his character. It actually makes the character of Theseus look very well-rounded. I still can't wait to see this movie! Enjoy.

Matt Reeves Lands 'The Twilight Zone' Directing Job with Warner Bros

Matt Reeves / Twilight Zone

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. Deadline (and Variety) reports that Warner Bros has chosen Matt Reeves, director of genre faves Cloverfield and Let Me In, to take on their new Twilight Zone movie. The news is brief, only confirming that Reeves is their choice and "negotiations will get underway early next week." We teased a few weeks ago that WB was considering a few very high profile directors, like Nolan, CuarĂ³n or Michael Bay, but it looks like Reeves got the job in the end. Awesome! I think Matt Reeves really is the perfect choice for this.
